i remember his comment on Micccchael it was more about him claiming to to be more masculine and domineering but it was for show cause im sure he knows never never never he sexy but nothing copared to Michael cause Mike was humble and we love humble so terrance love you you both married white you both cute but Michael is ours
It's true. Back when T.T.D. was at the pinnacle of his commercial success he was being interviewed for a radio broadcast and made the statement. This would have been in early 1988 perhaps.
While I liked his music I had to raise an eyebrow when Terrence once proclaimed he would be bigger than the late Michael Jackson. I was never a huge M.J. fan, but I certainly admired his stunning and diverse talents. I think even the most opposed M. J. critics would agree that Terrence while talented in his own right, would ever come close to Michael.
@herbie1derbie How are you sure of this "ego overcame talent" proclamation? From what I've learnt of him, he turned away from the oppresive nature of the mainstream music world after a series of spiritual awakenings during dark periods in his life. I'm no expert on spirituality, or the man himself, but I do know he is very spiritual and it sounds to me like he was actually freed from his ego by experiencing a moment of enlightenment :)
Damn oh hell yea moveit boy... i hate when ppl say hes tryna copy Michael Jackson cuz number 1 anybody whose ever or is plannin on it has and will FAIL, number 2 he aint tryna put any hehe's in it cuz only Michael can do dat PERFECTLY. and Number 3 cuz hes more smooth RnB, hense Michael Jacksons the King of Pop, so if he was rlly tryna copy Michael, wouldnt he be doin more pop stuff... think bout dat ppl that think hes tryna copy MJ.
The Original Milli Vanilli look. remember guys he is the one who's loss to frank Farian business prompted the creation of Milli Vanilli and the whole fiasco that followed.
This guy is so good. The voice is momentous. i am supprised he did not go further in his career than he did. He should still be top billing. Where is he, now?
Sade was mia for a while then she showed back up BigTime! maybe the same will be true of D'Arby.
Vocal wise many artists don't sound as good live as they do on the radio. It's nothing short of miraculous skill & brilliant tonality that he sings so well. Yet even the brightest of talents can be undone by hubris.
its amazing how a song can change your life

Serious vocal talent. Massively unrealised potential. Saw him live, I loved him by the end of the gig. Sadly, ego overcame talent.

When I first heard this on the radio I thought he was singing "Syon Lane across my heart."
For those that don't know Syon Lane is a road and railway in SW London.
