I have a 1987 porsche 944S that has a 2.5 liter 4 cyl. It makes 180 hp. more than the solstice/sky and it doesnt have variable valve timing. It also has 4 wheel disc. I know for a fact it handles better. its been 24 years and america STILL hasnt totally caught up to germany.

@MangoSmoothie16 America caught up decades ago and Germany still hasn't caught up. You are comparing a $50K car (adjusted for inflation) to a $20K car. Nowadays, you can get a 415 hp Mustang for $30K, while BMW can only give you a 230 hp 1-series for that price. That is the same Mustang that lapped Laguna Seca faster than an M3 and Audi R8 V10 (German cars which cost 2x and 5x as much respectively).

@marshknute Just because its "faster" doesnt mean its better. Youre also talking about the Mustang Boss Leguna Seca. The GT is slower than the M3... Plus the M3 is a sport luxary car. Mustang is a pony car. The only American car I'm impressed by is the CTS-V

@MangoSmoothie16 Actually, the regular M3 is just as fast as the M3. Check out MotorTrend's review, in which the Mustang GT and M3 posted identical times (less than a tenth of a second difference). Anyway, the Boss LS still costs less than an M3, and it's performance is so groundbreaking, that you'd have to be completely ignorant to call it a pony car; it pulls 0.01 g more than a Ferrari 458 Italia on a skidpad. Also, BMW's model range scores "below average" in quality, while Ford is #1.

@marshknute Maybe Ford has caught up. That was one track though. Do you know how they stack up on the nurburgring? I'd still like an E46 M3 over anything. I also bet that in the quality score, its based on price. BMW's are WAY overpriced. I still think they are better quality than a Mustang though.

@MangoSmoothie16 The quality score was based on reliability, not price. BMW scored in the 40th percentile for reliability (Merc and Audi = 30th %). Modern German luxury cars are characterized by their common electrical failures. Ford and Hyundai got top scores. Times have changed: remember in the 70's when Japanese cars were called "Jap-crap?" Now they are exceptionally well built. Since 2008, the Big 3, Hyundai and Kia have done the same, while "German reliability" is a thing of the past.

@marshknute German cars require more maintenance more often than ohter cars and the process is often more difficult. My mom's 2006 Sonata is truly a piece of shit. The trim on the windows didnt line up from the factory, one of the headlights is already fogging up, it's had to go into the shop for mechanical issues twice. My dads 2006 Tundra is a great. Japanese make good stuff bit it's starting to rust already. My dad also has a Porsche 944S. Great car if you maintain it. I have a 2011 mazda 3i

THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS CAR. The convertable top takes all the space in your trunk. NO TRUNK SPACE. The two flaps the rise and close are made very cheap. A spring and plastic holds them...will break. No traction control. You will slip on turns. LOTS OF NOISE INSIDE THE CAR from the windows not being sealed from the top. YOU CAN'T UPGRADE your audio system..NO ROOM. SATURN IMAGES and REP is very poor in the minds of Americans

15 minutes to put the top up? You can BUILD a top faster than that. Shows you are full of crap about owning one of these. It takes 30 seconds to put up. I have no idea why tools like Edmunds make such a big deal about the freaking top. Go to your local Pontiac dealer and put the top up and down twice, and you will see these people are full of crap. Oh, I forgot, it sucks because it is not a Toyota. I forgot. But, since I don't like driving a boring as hell toaster, I go look at cars myself.

I also drive a new sky I love the way it handles and it takes me about 7 mins to put the top up. Over all no complaints , I just love taking her out for rides. You will certainly get the looks, and compliments. I love my red sky.

7 minutes???? Is it any different then the solstice?? if it isnt then it should not take longer then a minute!!! press the button, trunk opens, pull the top up, twist the latch inside, snap on the two buttons in the back of the car and enjoy.

excellent video. I drive a Sky. handling is above average,245 18" wheels factory.(traction control,Rwd) conv. top does take extra effort to open and close.if its about to rain,you gotta pull over fast because it takes 10-15 min to put up.its a hot car though, compliments nearly every day on how it looks.
