When Ozzy left the group my interest for Black Sabbath vanished. Till the album with Ronnie James Dio 'Heaven and Hell' with great guitarplaying. Thanks for uploading

if you listen carefully to the original .... you can hear them rewind a tape. In the back ground.
I am not a conspiracy type. This recording has features that can only be heard/noticed, upon close inspection. If you can hear it .... the rewind feature can be heard at around.. the Verse starting at 4:15 .
@intraining01 There are all kinds of legends surrounding the early Black Sabbath albums. According to some, many of the recordings from the third and fourth albums were initially made at much faster or slower speeds, then manipulated.
I gotta give this one up to my old man, who shaped my musical taste from age 4 to about age 14. I was lucky to grow up in a cool household where my parents weren't prudes who shyed me away from great music. Earlier days were spent finding his old cassettes like AC/DC Back In Black /Highway to Hell, Deep Purple's Greatest Hits, Black Sabbath Paranoid and so on. But when I was around 9 he began buying up CDs of his favorite old bands, he came home with Volume 4 and I was never the same again lol
What a song. I'm 57 years old now, but when I first heard this song in USAF basic training in 1973 I fell in love with it. When I went home on leave in April 1973, I played it on the record player. My mom, who turned 76 this month, went thropugh the living room where the stereo was and said, "Who's that? That music makes you feel good!" Ya know what, my mom, who is a devout Christian, is still a rock-and-roller today. I love her so very much.
I can remember my Auntie Phyllis giving me this album for my birthday many long years ago. She figured I was turning 14 and had already blown my mind, so this was merely the dessert after the main course.
So sadly Auntie Phyllis passed away this past summer, almost 81. She maintained an interest in alternative music and other aspects of culture right up until the end. She may very well have been the only woman in her age category who knew who The Dayglo Abortions were. Cheers, Auntie Phyllis!
@jannyrcobs YO MAN! HERES TO AUNTIE PHYLLIS! IM GONNA DO 1 FOR HER ,THEN 1 FOR ME MAN. SHE SOUNDS LIKE THE AUNT EVERY KID NEEDS!!!! OLD DONT MEAN USELESS,IT MEAN FUCKIN WISE!!!!!!!!!!!
@IRONWORKERFROMHELL1 Right on! How times have changed! I'm old enough to remember the days when young people were still allowed to grow up--at their own pace. The governments and teachers wonder how come teens today don't even know who Sir Winston Churchill was. Is it any wonder, when young people are told what they can and cannot eat on school property, and aren't allowed to camp out even in the backyard? I can actually remember when teens could smoke on the school buses! Cheers, Auntie!
@jannyrcobs Auntie Phyllis sounds like she was a righteous aunt! My late stepmother once got me a copy of the Pistols LP,and even tho i already had it,she remarked "I know this isnt the really sick shit you listen to but this was the best i could do around here"..still have that LP and wont part with it.
I just gotta give a shout out to Bill Ward. He kicked ass in this song, so energetic, playful, and powerful was his drum playing. He got soul brotha lol
@jaganjacfan huuuh? its totally related to wheels of confusion. See, wheels of confusion is about inner turmoil, crookedness, and difficulty finding one's way in life, while the straightener provides the solution to the problems: accepting reality, the universe working itself out, straightenening- bing, bing, bing, bing...bing bing- so hypnotic
This music needs no video. I mean... is anyone gonna watch the screen when this helps us escape reality for a few minutes?? Just throwin' it out there!! Woohoo!!
I definitely owe everything I am today to Black Sabboth. I am a vegetable in an insane asalynm but everone else around me is a fruit. somehow I know any moment now Superman or Underdog will rescue me. Polly Pure Bred's room is next to mine. She said that purring like a cat will help them believe I'm sane. But I really think the catnip helps me get to sleep.
Yeah it's called: "The effects of copious amounts of blow and weed combined with some very talents rock/blues musicians who founded metal". Simply divine! Glad they are putting out a new album! .... sans the blow...of course! ;-) although seeing Ozzy's heart pop out on stage would sort of "cap the night" as they say...
This was the last Sabbath LP I bought in the 70's. I wasn't crazy about it then. Like it better now ... strange. Their self title debut LP was and always will be my favorite.
Black Sabbath are back! they've been my favorite since I was born, and I definitely would not be where I am today without them, and now that the original lineup is back, everything just feels right again!
Sabbath were prophets, alot of the old and a few new Artists are,but sabbath especially the song paranoid and this one has to reach out to most people!
with what is going on today i'm sure you can relate, lol then there's War Pigs,Into the Void, theres Pink Floyd with their many albums with a very accurate perspective!Get ready people the shit is hitting the fan!We ain't gonna pay for it this time.their gig is up,We don't need mainstream news we got our music and alternative news!
This is the music I grew up with and still love....even now that I am old and have heard this track 1000s of times, when they go into the instrumental at 5.14 my heart still skips a beat. Saw them live several times in the 70s...greatest concerts ever!
@Hektor7788 Yeah I find the intro so fucking amazing that I was kinda dissapointed by the transition. In my opinion I was thinking that a sad melodic bassline with cleantone guitar accents woul have fit better, good song nonetheless.
all you young sound engineers ,, if you havent got this and zep 4 in your collection you have learnt fuck all,, you can have your flat digital crap sound this is so much better go old analogue,, the way forward,,
same as maceMn,, i dug this and zep and hawkwind et al ,, all at the time,, a lost dream lads, nothing but fags, posers and lightweight cock suckers now,,
@eelpieballox as an engineer, i'd like to state the simple fact that engineers wouldnt get paid if they tried to do that. clients want compressed digital stuff, some of my close friends are mastering engineers and i hear the same from them too and we all hate it it seems.... but theres always gonna be pendulum swings, now music its at its worst, its simple, its undynamic, and within 10 years we should have real good music coming out again.
@McSassin89 well like I said it always goes the opposite, not just with music, but stuff like fashion, art, subcultures etc... music used to be great like black sabbath and pretty much any band/genre from those times, and music had high sound quality, very dynamic, now its low quality, over compressed and simple music, but we have reached the worst point, and its starting to swing back into the other direction, people are wanting better quality music, more dynamics, better quality etc...
@ErikEntropy Yeah, it's like people are starting to realize how shitty most bands are today and are now writing good material that is more raw and energetic.
I just put my headphones on, and drift away. Masterpiece.

Best track, off the best sabbath album by far
philhable 5 months ago
i reckon this is sabbath's most inaccessible album, this song especially, it's not as immediate in its riffage as sabbath usually were

This is the music I grew up with and still love....even now that I am old and have heard this track 1000s of times, when they go into the instrumental at 5.14 my heart still skips a beat. Saw them live several times in the 70s...greatest concerts ever!

@CrashHolly1 Hey! I'm a kid of today and I hate all those sell outs. it's all about metal! There is still some hope for this generation.
jeezjacob 5 months ago
why did Dio have to be the one who didn't sell out.
jeezjacob 5 months ago
@jeezjacob yeah, and subsequently die. And Sabbath didn't sell out

2:53-3:30 is probably my favorite guitar part in this song.

I wish the intro and outro to this song would never end.
Hektor7788 5 months ago
@Hektor7788 Yeah I find the intro so fucking amazing that I was kinda dissapointed by the transition. In my opinion I was thinking that a sad melodic bassline with cleantone guitar accents woul have fit better, good song nonetheless.

all you young sound engineers ,, if you havent got this and zep 4 in your collection you have learnt fuck all,, you can have your flat digital crap sound this is so much better go old analogue,, the way forward,,
same as maceMn,, i dug this and zep and hawkwind et al ,, all at the time,, a lost dream lads, nothing but fags, posers and lightweight cock suckers now,,
eelpieballox 5 months ago
@eelpieballox as an engineer, i'd like to state the simple fact that engineers wouldnt get paid if they tried to do that. clients want compressed digital stuff, some of my close friends are mastering engineers and i hear the same from them too and we all hate it it seems.... but theres always gonna be pendulum swings, now music its at its worst, its simple, its undynamic, and within 10 years we should have real good music coming out again.
ErikEntropy 5 months ago
@ErikEntropy Sounds a little too good to be true. What kind of good music will be coming out again? How can you tell that it will come out?
McSassin89 5 months ago
@McSassin89 well like I said it always goes the opposite, not just with music, but stuff like fashion, art, subcultures etc... music used to be great like black sabbath and pretty much any band/genre from those times, and music had high sound quality, very dynamic, now its low quality, over compressed and simple music, but we have reached the worst point, and its starting to swing back into the other direction, people are wanting better quality music, more dynamics, better quality etc...
ErikEntropy 5 months ago
@ErikEntropy Yeah, it's like people are starting to realize how shitty most bands are today and are now writing good material that is more raw and energetic.
