I always seem to feel sleepy between 1pm and 3pm i think 1 or 2 hours in bed at this time dose you good and makes you feel fresher for the rest of the afternoon.

lol i dont care how many facts proving why power naps are a good thing. the FACT remains that people will abuse this privilige. if you want to go to work awake. GET TO BED EARLIER AND STOP DRINKING THEM ENERGY DRINKS/ CAFFEINE THAT MAKE YOU CRASH LATER simple as that.
Napping is so inconvenient and for some reason makes me think slower than before. Which reduces productivity. What works for me is to eat less during lunch and drink coffee and of course get enough sleep at night.
I wake up very early, 5AM, but go to bed at 10PM, and I wake up several times in the night ... which only gives me 6 hours. So often when I am super tired in the morning, I'll take a short nap on the couch for about 30 minutes. But I don't like the idea of napping for long, or any later than early in the morning, so that I still can sleep at night.
I take catnaps on a daily basis...around the afternoon I take one for 30 minutes, when I wake up from my nap I feel that my legs are numb, but I have more oxygen to my brain and immune system...It's just hands down awesome and I wish that more people at work would do this at their break time, but they don't and by the end of the shift people get cranky and yell at each other. I've seen it, but me...I'm calm and stress free.
so never underestimate the power of a nap, it's healthy for you.
REM does not occur during deep sleep... it occurs during light sleep. Stage 1&2 are light sleep, stage 3&4 are deep sleep. You cycle between the stages, and REM occurs rougly every 90 minutes at the beginning of a cycle.
