This takes me back to my senior Christmas prom. This whole album. My first chaotic, gut wrenching, thrilling and complicated taste of love *sigh* ,lol. They were precious times.
Paul was my philosophy of religion professor at University. We kept pestering him about his music career, but he would never talk about it or play anything. his classes were by far my faves.
@rightonawesome Same here. First time I heard Hold Me Tender was when I was hanging out at a local swimming pool (While I was still in Kamloops, BC. I was a little kid at the time). After hearing it, I got hooked on it. Paul Janz was & always will be a phemomenal Canadian musician.
I've been trying to find this song for months and months...but I couldn't remember the title. I finally heard it on the radio today...thnx for posting it!!
@SexyAngel79 I'm pretty sure the pool scenes were either the Four Seasons or the Sheraton Centre as well, I stayed with at least one of them as a kid (though both ring a bell) and I recognized the pool in this video
Thanks for the post of this Video, vintage middle of the road music....remembers this song singing with my ex driving with radio blaring......nice memory...
@NatalieJanz I remember the band Deliverance, great music back in the 80ies, especially the first two albums (before they went imitating the Bee Gee Sound). I guess it's a blessing to be born into a musical family like this, good luck to you!
Paul's music is incredible! He is probably my favourite musician. I am sad that his calling is no longer in the business but what he is doing now is where he should be.
I had the chance of meeting him years ago as well as Chris. A few years. I was able to tell Chris about meeting his dad and enjoying his songs when he visited my church. My prayers continue to be with Feather.
If she's related to Paul Janz, it's hardly "polluting". "Shameless self-promoting" is when, say, a bunch of comedians post an irrelevant plug of their skits onto your music-performance video.
He was a great musician. It is hard to believe he went from making it into the mainstream music(he was a strong Christian) to leaving the industry to become a Dr. in theology. I would be great if he came back in the music business again.
"Systematic theology is the discipline of Christian theology that attempts to formulate an orderly, rational, and coherent account of the Christian faith and beliefs" - From Wikipedia
Not only is Union Station in the video, but so is the King Edward Hotel. The bathroom, the bar and the staircase are inside the hotel. I should know. I worked there for two years.
Yup he now teaches at Cambridge University after having a book published through them. My cousin, his son is now starting in music as well and is amazing, album coming this crhstmas and tour after that, think I might tour with him.
Living in the US I had never heard of Paul Janz. My Canadian friend shared this video with me. Now I must listen/watch it most every day. Love the lyrics! I'm addicted to this song!
did u know that miss murray (anne) won her first juno at the champlain room? and, this is one my fave vides of the 80's. paul janz was very under-rated but hey, that's the canadian music scene for you!
It's a nice look at early 90s Toronto--mainly the Royal York and Union Station. Anyone else catch the reflection of the sign at the late restaurant Champlain?
I thought it looked like Toronto. I was going to comment on it but you beat me to it. Having lived there for many years it makes me a bit nostalgic to see Union Station...

I am very happy to see that there are people who still remember Paul Janz.
He is my dad's cousin and they were both singers of the band Deliverance.
And I am going down the same road.
If you're curious, just go onto YouTube and listen to "Sweeter Than Wine".
