  • As I see it, Joe's showing great determination. But he's taking too many shots. Not a close fight at all. And the judges didn't see it that way either.

  • if you watch the post fight interviews you can clearly see that ali is hurt much more than frazier also ali wanted to quit but right before he could eddie futch threw in the towel so really terrible luck is the only reason joe lost

  • @jackpoz333 LOL yeah, keep drinking the Kool Aid.

  • Somebody in Ali's corner yells "Allah hu akbar" at 5:24

  • @Humanicus it means "god is great" big deal

  • Ali on a clench around Joe's back neck all night long, preventing Joe from effectively punishing him, and he didn't even get a penalty for doing so. Ali was looking like a cheater here and Joe didn't deserve a loss in this fight.

  • If you don't think these punches have some strength even this late in the fight, look at the reaction of the rope when frazier's punch hits it at 0:55 of this clip.

  • how come none of them is cut or anything with the shots they'e given eachother Im supprised they still got they're eyes in they're sockets , but were the gloves different back then or something or do the just got hardy skin ??

  • This is what you call a War.

  • ali disliked this video :))

  • @tehnicianu1 Why?? He's kicking his ass.

  • They both are the greatest.

  • did you see frazier just eat two punches to the face in the first 10 seconds?

  • Two proper heavyweight boxers. All guts and glory, no messing around. Guys like Haye could learn from them. They could talk the talk and walk the walk.

  • Rest in Peace Joe Frazier

  • Love ya Joe! Thanks for the Thrilla in Manilla!

  • RIP frazier

  • rest in peace Joe

  • a thing to remember is that ali did not focus on his training for this fight due to many personal distractions, and the fact that he believes joe is washed up. this ended up giving him the fight of his life. joe trained relentlessly, and still lost due to a premature surrender by his trainer. if the trainer had let him go for the final round, joe would have won because ali asked his trainer to cut the gloves as well at the same time. both fighters are incredible.

  • @MrMmartialarts Let's look at what you just said, "still lost due to a premature surrender by his trainer. if the trainer had let him go for the final round, joe would have won" Joe would have won....Joe was behind in scoring, his face was a pulp and he could barely see. Yet, you, in opposition to all boxing experts and anyone with a brain say he would have won. And how would he have done that. tell us, oh great one.

  • @bumblebeemoi if you didn't do your research, ali said he would've surrendered if joe came out for the 15th. go figure. oh great sarcastic one.

  • 10:04 Frazier's mouth guard being knocked out?

  • 10:00 that is why Ali is better. When Ali lands a heavy hit, he follows through and destroys kids with his combos. Frazier lands a lucky one and doesn't capitalize. Ali wins all day.

  • Watching frazier is like watching a zombie staggering forwards, head down, no thoughts, no skill, just slugging.

  • @supersesqui You're forgetting that he is still considered a better fighter than most heavyweights of any era. Frazier had stingy defense, a murderous left hook and a ruthless body attack. Not to mention a steel jaw.

  • @thetompenney1

Agreed , but i find no pleasure in watching his style.

  • @thetompenney1 Now how much is Holyfield like Joe Frazier?

  • Probably the greatest fight ever. Amazing toughness and endurance by both of these guys. How many other fighters would not have gone down while taking such a beating? Both Ali and Frazier were at their absolute best in this fight.

  • After 11 Rounds I scored the first 2 for Ali, the Third Frazier, 4th Tie, Frazier In control of 5 and 6 Ali got the Seventh and 8,9,10,11 for Frazier

After the 11th Frazier was slightly in front, Ali somewhat won the 12th. 13,14 easily Ali. After 14 Grueling Rounds. Dead Even.

  • rozza333-Frazier in his PRIME(68-71)would have bobbed/weaved Tyson, avoid most of Tyson's shots, body punched the fuck out of him, and KO'd his ass in 7-9 rds. Tyson was more one dimensional than Joe. Ask Chuvalo who would win - shit, Chuvalo NEVER got knockd down & he, also, in hs prime would kick prime Tyson's ass. Shavers & Foreman, TOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think joe is suffering more than ali at this point, taking too much, but both are great champion's

  • Flip Wilson doesn't know much about either fighter. Originally predicting it would end within 9 rounds even though Ali had never floored Frazier and Ali had never himself been stopped in a fight at that time.

All Wilson ever seemed to say when he was asked a question was 'Well, I think Joe's beginning to smoke.'

  • Wow..what a awesome match up! I love these two fighter..and I also agree, they would kill today's fighters. lol

My sister nickname was named after Smokin Joe..It's Smokey. lol XD

Wish these two guys were still fighting today....that would be something!

  • I just wish Frazier would have fought a young Ali when Ali was in his 20s. Frazier would not even have been able to hit him.

  • @xjksxklsidosgkjw WOULDA BEEN A GREAT FIGHT.

  • lennox lol ali lennox wouldnt have lasted the first round, saw lennox loose his first defence,if you can call it that

  • my god! the sportscaster is so bad i'm waiting for him to say "boom goes the dynamite"

  • looking at some of the boxing comments on here, I'm always amazed that Tyson is still held in such high regard

Who exactly did Tyson beat? An Ali?A Frazier? puhlease who is the best fighter in or near his prime Tyson beat?

Tyson was a good trainer with some pop...that's about it. ...the heart of an Ali or Frazier or Hagler or Arguello etc?

Evander took his best, no easy knockout, and Tyson showed his colors

Joe Frazier would leave him in a pile

well Buster was almost as good as Joe...

  • @PorkFrog what you got to r ember Tyson hit harder than Frazier and bigger not in height but in weight, but tyson never had the heart of Frazier,as for Ali NORTON BEAT HIM ONCE AND WAS ROBED IN THE SECOND, Frazier was every bit as good as Ali,Holmes was as good if not better, prime Tyson was the greatest 6 round heavyweight all time, tyson would of knocked out both of theses great fighters in his prime IMO :)

  • @hyenachase Tyson Ali comparison: Chin-Ali, Power-Tyson, Speed-Ali, Ring savvy-Ali, Conditioning-Ali, Heart-Ali. Tyson might have nailed Ali like Frazier did with that left, got him in trouble and finished him, a BIG maybe since Ali was never knocked until Holmes when he was past fighting

Remember, Foreman was a 24 year old wrecking ball when Ali beat him at 32, and Evander said old man George hit harder than anybody. When Ali beat George no one had reached round 8 against him in 4 years...cont

  • @hyenachase So on paper, Ali wins.

Frazier and Tyson would be a better matchup for Tyson- young Tyson against young Joe would be a crazy fight, both short-armed bobbing and weaving, throwin bombs

would never go the distance whoever would win

Unfortunately when comparing fighters of different eras, all we got is opinion, and Tyson certainly was impressive as a youngster. Not his fault no one was there to test him properly, and as for Buster, anybody can land that big shot [long count anyone?]

  • @hyenachase : Hell NO DUDE!!!!! Ali in his prime could not even be touched. So tyson might have had the power to level Ali but Tyosn would have never gotten to a young Ali. Ali in his prime would have jabed the shit out of tyson just like Lenox Leiws and Buster Duagless did and would have had the legs to get away and the head movement to get away from tyson power punches. A young Tyson is no match for a young Ali.

  • @xjksxklsidosgkjw

a young tyson was fast as fuck....and young Ali was dropped by left hooks from far lesser boxers than tyson...just sayin

  • @joeclemm15 A young Ali was dropped. A young Mike Tyson was knocked the FUCK OUT!!!!!

  • I'm slowly becoming a boxing fan. I thought I should start off by watching some legendary fight. The Ali and Foreman tickled my fancy but this one is just great.

  • @rimu5 Watch ali frazier 1

  • What in the hell was comedian Flip Wilson doing as a "color commentator" for a world heavyweight championship fight?

  • Ali would Destroy most of the Boxers Today.

  • @ ErikS1975FreeState not most of every :)

  • Uh what?

  • @ErikS1975FreeState ..that's a joke.....

  • Uh what? Is a Joke, doesn't sound funny to me.

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

most? who could he not destroy?

  • @ErikS1975FreeState not most of them but all of them

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

most of todays boxers? Which ones wouldn't he beat?

  • @MercenaryOO7

Tongue and cheek, Muhammad Ali is the Greatest Heavyweight of all time

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

If he's only beat most today, who couldn't he beat?

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

I disagree. Neither of these boxers would have survived against Lennox Lewis.

  • @widebody123

    Based on what

  • @widebody123 -Ali would have handled lewis. Wouldhave been awkward but I would bet on Ali. Lewis was prob too big for Frazier, but if Joe caught him wit ha good L hook---Lewis would fall. hd didnt take a punch well.

  • @loyaldude10 im gonna go with lewis on lewis vs ali. But Fraizer was too small for lewis. Lewis on points when against fraizer. I rekon PRIME Tyson could have beaten PRIME Ali 50% of the time and ali beat him 50% of the time. Tyson would demolish Fraizer though. Fraizer is just a smaller Tyson with a right hand much weaker than Tysons.

  • @TheRozza333 Joe Frazier was bigger than Mike Tyson. Tyson is listed as 5-11.5 - He's actually 5 feet 9 and 3 quarter inches. Joe was a shade under 6 foot. Why mention Tyson? Holyfield was his superior and proved it twice. Tyson was a NOTHING.

  • @TheRozza333 Lewis would get outpointed and embarrassed by Ali dancing rings round him and knocked the fuck out by Frazier, he wasn't in their class, neither was Tyson.Tyson would get outpointed by Ali and very possibly knocked out. i can't make my mind up about him vs Frazier, tough call on that one though Joe wouldn't go down without a fight, that's for sure. Tyson tended to prefer mid range and Frazier would have constantly applied pressure in close. Tyson wasn't good on the backfoot.

  • @obewild Im still gonna go with Lewis on both Ali and Frazier. I have changed my mind about tyson vs ali though...Ali would win most times unless tyson fought like frazier was in this fight. Ali wouldnt KO tyson. Tyson has an underrated chin and Ali didnt have a great deal of power. But i still thing Tyson would dominate Frazier because they both fought in close. Tyson never fought mid range in the period 1986-1989 and thats what im on about. PRIME VS PRIME

  • @TheRozza333 Can you explain why you think lewis would beat them both? I just can't understand it. Maybe my idea of mid range fighting is different to yours but any prime tyson fight i've seen he threw his punches from mid range, he was not an inside fighter like Frazier. Tyson was also pretty one dimensional, if he couldn't beat you by clobbering you early (which he wouldn't be able to do against Ali as he was too fast) he was beat as he never had a back up plan and had poor stamina.

  • @obewild I think you think that tyson is mid range fighter because tysons opponents were ALWAYS moving backwards and away from him so he had to throw some of his punches from further away. He didn't mindlessly throw haymakers and hope that one landed, he tactically broke down their body and then attacked the head. His defense was also very good. His stamina was good also WHEN he trained hard enough but because his fights were all so short, he didnt have time to show it off much.

  • @TheRozza333 That is not why i think he is a mid range fighter, i think it because that's what he was. Yes, he did throw body punches on the inside but a lot of the time he clinched to preserve energy and once the clinch was split by the ref it meant he was instantly in range without having to waste energy on the way in which was a clever tactic. All D'Amato fighters were mid range. Look at Frazier, he was always right up in his opponents chest throwing shots, that to me is an inside fighter

  • @obewild if you just google search something like in-fighter boxing, you will see tysons name listed on the examples along with frazier, marciano, dempsy and all those other guys. I dont understand why you cannot understand this shit. Tyson didnt clinch. He leaned on them but never tied the other guys up. As far as him having bad stamina, he exploded with punches which (as it would anybody) fatigued him for about 10 seconds but then he just did it again.

  • @TheRozza333 google Tyson mid range fighter or something and you will see plenty of articles on him being a mid range fighter because that's what he was.He was a mediocre inside fighter at best, mostly due to his stance on the inside. If he was an inside fighter he would not have been able to land those bombs as he needed room to move and throw.he did clinch i have seen it as have many others on the different boxing forums i frequent.I still think he had poor stamina compared to Ali or Frazier.

  • @obewild I think its reached the point now where neither of us will ever agree with the other one. I think tyson was a inside fighter, you think he was mid range. Im just gonna leave it at that because i cant be arsed to type these essays anymore.

  • @TheRozza333 same here, we will agree to disagree

  • @TheRozza333 Oh and Tyson said himself that a lung condition made his stamina pretty bad

  • @obewild carrying on from my last comment... When he trained with atlas during 1986-1989 i think it was, his stamina never showed any signs of being shit. He was patient but his stamina was fine. When he came out of prison and just wanted to make shit loads of money and didnt train right, then his stamina was all fucked up.

  • @TheRozza333 Meant to add, Ali was a decent puncher. He wasn't a seriously hard hitting puncher or a knockout artist but he hit hard enough when he sat down on his punches. He had 37 KO's out of his 56 wins and it was normally the combined damage of his combinations that knocked his opponents out so it's a possibility though slight that he could have knocked out Tyson.

  • @TheRozza333 frazier would break tyson down and ko him.tyson got his leverage from mid range and was far from inside fighter

  • @TheRozza333 my friend, never put lewis on par with Ali. Lewis is much slower and sluggish compared to post prime Ali. and Ali could take lots of beatings, not to mention is amazing stamina and combos.

  • @ErikS1975FreeState thats so true!!!!

  • @ErikS1975FreeState he would destroy them all

  • @ErikS1975FreeState you mean everyone

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

most? or all? i mean the klitschko's are a joke tbh.

  • Both these guys would destroy any of today's fighters. An amazing match!

  • @pokes101 WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?????ALI /FRAZIERWOULD HAVE BEEN KNOCKED OUT IN ROUND 1 WITH TYSON!!!

  • @reconforsales hope that was a joke

  • @pokes101 Destroy is right, DESTROY! Just like Sugar Ray or Hearns would destroy Mayweather IMO! Most boxers in the glory days would eat them today.

  • @pokes101 You're probly right. Don't think lennox or anybody since could make a dent. 'Cep Tyson at his brutal best. Tyson and Frazier would have been a brawl!

  • This is why no one really watches boxing today and everyone's turned to UFC, they cant produce fights of this caliber...you can tell these guys hate each other and either one would rather leave in a stretcher than lose to the other guy

  • Except UFC dont have fights this good, and "everyone" didnt turn to UFC.

  • well yeah not THIS good, but 99 percent better than the crap they put out today and if you look at most articles on it, boxing has LOST A good deal of viewers and most of them have gone to UFC. For one thing there is too much corruption in boxing, second of all guys are virtual unknowns, the public doesnt care anymore except for a guy like mayweather. The rest have almost no noteriety and then go on and get paid 20 million a fight...no wonder the sport is on life support.

  • Not really. UFC is a fun sport, but it's forgettable and doesn't have the long lasting impact that Boxing has. And it will always lose to Boxing at the box office.

  • hmm.a month ago, ufc (101?)went toe to toe with boxing (fm vs marquez)at ppv... d numbers? boxing -over a million buys, ufc -250k buys only.. must be an excellent life support.:)

  • Except UFC puts on about 15 events a year whilst boxing puts on 2 or 3 worthwhile ones. The UFC business structure is excellent with relevant fights happening all the time. Boxing is dieing, due to its retarded structure.

The Floyd Mayweathers and Manny Pacquiao's are boxing's last generation of superstars there will be no new ones and it makes me very sad.

  • @Kcusnza I agree boxing is ill structured. I am hoping that the floyd mayweathers and the manny paciaou type fighters are the ones that inspire a new generation of greats and of fans.

i really hope they wont test positive on either side> would taint the last ten years of the sport in the weight classes they have been in

  • actually you fucking retard, ufc 101 was on august 8th and had

    Attendance 17,411

    Total Gate $3,550,000

    Buyrate 1,050,000

and marquez vs. mayweather only put on "over a million pay per views"

yeah, you sure are right fag

UFC 103 was on sept 19th, and it had "over 500,000" buys.. people are saying wow, boxing is the greatest but the UFC put on 20 Events in 2009, generating over 13million buys.. against HBO's 19, which generated under 4.8 million...

pacman fought twice, floyd only once so stfu

  • Yeah and when has boxing recently put on a fight this good? They haven't and chances are they never will again.

  • Uhhhhh, Pacquiao and Mayweather????????? Right around the corner????

  • As grim as it sounds, you are right. These were real men. But today, I only know of Mayweather. I think Don King made and corrupted boxing overall in my opinion.

  • True. That piece of shit - and the politics that came with him - are very much responsible. How else could you have a joke champion like Valuev who won't fight the other titleholders?

  • best slug best was roberto duran vs sugar ray lenord 1 brawl in montreal. That fight was a true slugger right from round 1 till round 15 it was like watching an unstaged rocky fight.

  • Ali knocks out Frazier's mouthpiece at 10:05.

  • that was an epic slugfest from start to finish. but the thrilla was a 14 round beating. neither foreman nor lyle would've made it that long. they were beating the hell out of each other though

  • i've never seen this many HARD shots this late in a fight before

  • yep its a great fight. but what do u think about the fight George Foreman vs Rone Lyle? biggest slugfest i've ever seen.

  • 6-5-1Ali this is truly the greatest match in boxing, action in all rounds just great
