  • All that is the smallest Land Rove interested, help me to protest that Land Rover will stop producing Defender! Protest for Land Rover's website under "contact us" they will send the views to the Land Rover owner (Tata Motors) Thanks for the help! We must save the Defender!

  • Mmmm, this or a Nissan Patrol?

  • @hawkeyesurfer this, it's really better than a Patrol ... I can assure you

  • I was in one the other day and we had to rescue a quad from half way up a hill low box and it took us up to the quad

  • nice video but whats with the porno themetune?

  • A beautiful tin of rivets!!!

  • im australian and from my experience growing up in the country and also traveling to a lot of 2nd and 3rd world countries for work, the toyota land cruiser (especially the 70 series) greatly out numbers defenders.

also, australia is the largest market in the world for the 70 series land cruiser.

  • the 2007 models have a brand new heating unit which heats the vehicle much better and faster.

  • @Fasoaga3169 It was first designed to be a cavilian vehicle but it's so good off-road that the military use them as well.

  • sweet truck but i would prefer a g class mercedes...the 2 door model in silver

  • how much is ist(the g Model?)? twice the price? or 3-times the price?^^

  • Hope this 07 DEFENDER will make it to the united state, Because this model is hard to find in U.S and people barly know it....

  • Hey Tata/Land Rover NA: Bring the Defender back to the USA. Redesign it SLIGHTLY to meet safety and diesel engine emissions standards and leave the rest of it alone. Please!!!!!

  • Good engine, runs very well,Shame the rear diff

broke within 80 miles then the back door lock fell of and now its leaking water from the inner rear light wire covers...........

    ........... its a landrover........

  • defender is not in mexico my godness u cant see any defender on mexico

  • Yep,ford realy ruind the defender, lets put loads of ford parts on it so we can sell more ford parts, looks like a land rover but is a ford.what an abortion.

  • Tata motors has owned Land Rover for a while, a third world country owns it, there quality will be worse than Ford by far! It was never the best quality, a great vehicle if you could afford the expensive maintenance.

  • A Jeep Wrangler!?!?!?! WTF are u talking about. Go to the beach play ball man....

  • wWhy do apparently sane people still buy this thing? Everyone and their grandmother knows how hopelessly unreliable they are. Puny arthritic little engines and terrible build quality means the only place you'll be going is the local garage to get the damn thing fixed.

Do like the rest of the world and get a Toyota! 100% more reliable and you know it! Every aid agency in the world can't be wrong!

  • Yeah idiot thats why more than 2/3 of the landrovers ever built are still in use...

  • Owning a defender is not like owning a Toyota.

Owning a Defender is a lifestyle.

An epic tradition that no toyota could ever match.

There is a reason why the first vehicle seen by 70% of the developing world is a Land Rover.

  • Thats not my point, I will not sit here and claim Land Rovers are reliable. I have NEVER said that. But owning a Land Rover, as epic as the Defender, is a hobby for people who own them. Aid agencies cant afford defenders. Land Rover has such a rich history, and to me, thats what makes them fun to own. I like cars with personality, cars with 1000's of enthusiasts, and cars that can go anywhere you tell them to. If im treading into the Jungle I wouldn't be caught dead in a Toyota.

  • No, you'd be found dead in your landrover, and I'd be very much alive in the amazon with my Amazon.

Ok, dirty little secret time. I do own a landie, but an OLD one - 74 lightweight series 2A. Yes it wouldn't start this morning and the head gasket went last summer etc etc but its only for pulling logs around the woods. But look at what landrover have become, overpriced rubbish now owned by tata for goodness sake. It's glory days are long gone and the Japs are the kings. Thats just the way it is.

  • I'm with you on that one! Its sad what Land Rover is putting out these days. I wont be buying one, unless they get owners of the 80's and 90's involved again. These mall goers are rubbish and I would drive Toyota Land Cruiser over them ANYDAY off road! I guess if just depends what you look for when buying an off road truck, for me its (old) Land Rover, for you its Toyota. But i do hate that jap cars are taking over the streets..... most of them are rubbish and boring too.

  • My 1948 S1 is as reliable as any toyota and will continue to be even after yr toyota is long gone

  • You know it's bllolloks, it'll prob keep going because you'll keep throwing money at it until all parts have been replaced and it's not even the same vehicle.

  • Actually it isnt it was my first car and despite all the abuse and neglect it received it kept going. It is stock besides an alternator, replacing the original generator, free wheeling hubs and a later roof replacing the canvas, all installed by the previous owner. Far from throwing money at it i put nothin in it besides petrol and oil.

  • Really? Then how come when I spent 6 months on stations out there I didnt see 1 rover? Im sorry but its just plain fact, the landcruiser is THE choice of 90% of Oz, as the old saying goes 'Head into the outback with a Landrover, but if you want to come back again take a toyota', or words to that effect.

  • That expression is the product of Toyo marketing dept. Toyo must love this unthinking and unquestioning consumer obedience and reverence. How many people do you know who have not returned from the 'outback' because the drove a LR? Further what vehicle do you think opened up Australia well before the arrival of LC in 1954?

  • i know im replying to comment you left ages ago but ur right landrovers rule

  • @camdisco24 too bad they arnt as reliable as a toyota....

  • LR - INDIA ??? Wht the Fu??? WHyyyyyyyyyy??

  • Defenders are the best.

    Love the sound they make.

  • To be honest, if Tata buying them both ensures that they both survive and remain Brit built and designed, I don't give hoot who owns the badge! Footnote: For the majority of India, the first car they ever saw was a Landrover. ;). They must know a good thing when they see it.

  • Quick update on Tata buying Landrover and Jaguar: Mr Tata (in his own words) has no intention of messinging about with either marques. Both will continue to be British built and designed. LR and Jag are basically a badge of honour for him.

  • enough already. just show the darn truck in motion...

  • I will reserve judgement until I have actually driven one. At least they haven't messed too much with the iconic shape.

I will miss the dash vents though. The cold wind blast on a hot summers day was a godsend in a vehicle withou air con!

  • Land Rover : Defender > Land cruiser

Land Rover : Defender > Hummer

Land Rover : Defender > Jeep

    (100%) (TRUE) (TRUE) (TRUE) (100%)

The land rover defender is the best 4x4 off-road car... Although its so FREAKIN' slow!

  • A Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon will go places a Land Rover driver will never see in his life. Ultra low gearing, dana 44 axles, front and rear lockers, disconnectable swingbar in front, power and torque.

  • yeah right.....not a chance yank.......i used my defender in the most rugged and heavy terrain in the world = the borneo and papua jungle.....a place where an american jeep will give up.....

  • I have driven several 4x4, also all LR products with exeption of the Freelander, and a vehicle with 100% percent lockers in front and rear axle is more capable offroad. So Mercedes G and the newest Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon are better offroad as a new Defender. I loved my old Discovery Tdi, great wheel articulation and a lot of riding comfort.

  • You are full of crap you yank idiot. Landrovers are the best in the world, and a defender will very soon have completed the first ever transglobal expedition. Thats a LANDROVER, not some piece of DUMB AMERICAN SCRAP IRON.

  • Anyone who steps out of a Jeep Wrangler looks like a total knob. If a Jeep can go further into the outback that's great. At least out there nobody can see you.

  • heard the rumour, Land Rover is beeing sold to Tata Motors in India....what next???any comments on that folks?

  • I've just read an information about this. It appears that Tata Motors wants to buy Land Rover along with Jaguar. Beside Tata, 5 more investors want to buy both Land Rover and Jaguar. The deal is estimated to be worth around 1,5 billion USD

I don't know, it may not be true

  • Hi Raptor22f, just read that Tata has closed the deal, so to India it goes...somehow ironic that a British icon goes to a former colony....

  • If Land Rover goes to INDIA, I will run to by a Jeep. LR will never again be the same, changed, mixed and build in India. Jesus Christ, how could something stupid like this happen ????? I'm deeply shocked :-(((

  • everyone knocking it but i bet there will be quite a few gettting stolen or stripped so the thieving cunts can put the dash and so onin theres its always the same

  • the land rover, DESTROYED! look at the pregnant bonnet and the dash and the TRANSIT ENGINE!!

  • Agreed, I'm not stuck on the bonnet bulge and we will see if the dash is as tough as the old version. As for the Transit engine, owners of older Landrovers wanting economy and reliability have been fitting Transit Di engines for years. Ford obviousely thought this was a good idea.

  • I think its a shame what Ford did to the 2007 Defenders dashboard, it completly lacks the charisma of the old style dash, with switches and levers all over the place.

Why had they to eliminate the vents(???), cause thats a unique and ingenius feature I wouldn't miss....

Well ROCK ON LANDY, I go for a spin in my 99/110 with manual operated windows..;-)

  • totally agree with you! ford have ruined a great brittish car.

  • Good news for those across the pond-Landrover are trying to start importing the 110 and 90 to the States again. I think it still has some emission issues to resolve first.

  • They've been claiming that for years. I've been waiting for them to ship new ones since the last of the 97s came off the ships. I highly doubt they will arrive here, and if they do, they'll be some bastardized Ford targeted to soccer moms with a starting price of 70k

  • Buying it early next year :D

  • they arnt making the TD5, its a new 2.4, which aparently is more powerful eben though its smaller

  • You sure you can't pick up an ex-military Defender in the US? I live in England, and they sell ex MOD Defenders quite cheap here, and I think they use them in the US army?

  • yea, the special US forces use defenders over the hummer however they arnt to common second hand, try ebay, other people will import them use them a while and sell them on. and if it been imported they are well lokked after

  • i want a 2007 d90, ive had three of them all of them being between a 95-97 i want a new one, stupid laws

  • I would have liked to see it go though the mud /water hole at the 1:32 time frame.

  • everything about LR Defender is great, except the stupid pussy diesel engine that is the only option in Australia, give us a decent petrol that can keep up with traffic. The TD sucks

  • You can always toss a V8 in there.

  • when do you think they will release it in the US, Those defenders are sick, but I would still rather have my 94 Range Rover LWB!

  • What are ya on about...it saved my arse and other peoples lives when I was in the emergency serives...I'd still buy a defender any day of the week instead of some german poof machine!!!! the v8 would be fun though....hmmm dont get me started I might have to go to a land rover dealer soon!!!!

  • no your supposed to drive around with your arm out the window, thats why landrover never bothered to devolop decent door seals!!

  • Can you still hose it out like the old 110s and series 3s?

  • it made form aluminium, so providing you dont get the carrpet interior you should be fine.

  • What a waste of bandwidth, why not just post the stills somewhere instead of this BS panning crud. What a shame Landrover stopped bringing decent vehicles to the US, no Defenders, no solid axles, no diesels, no manual transmission. A 96 Defender 90 in good order is $35k round here, a 2002 Disco2 is $12k.

  • in the US defenders were imported in 1993(D110) 1994(D90) 1995(D90) not in 1996 and then in 1997(D90)

  • The Defender must be updated because those bastards at Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan ans Isuzu are robbing LR sales. Japanese 4x4 are crap.

  • I think the interior is just "modernized"... previous versions are too simple. (i know that's the whole point, but LR is trying to sell to the USDM. and they weren't getting anywhere unless they put in a few more things)

    REALLY like it. LR ROCK!!!!

  • Looks very nice, I have a standard 2000 model. Its not as posh as this.

I can't help thinking though that the front interior looks like something out of the Ford Ranger, a much less reliable car!

  • regarding the similarities between this and a ranger, my buddy has a ranger and i totally agree. im sure this video doesnt do it justice though.

  • The interior actually resembles a Toyota FJ Cruiser.
