Yes, there is a perception that the Philippines is one of the corrupt countries in Asia. That is exagerrated because the country has also the freest press in the area. The media has to exagerrate things to drum up interest and the  circulation of their publications and increase their income. Note that the claim is not supported by statistics but only by perception and impression.

Most of the comments I got - are ignoring these problems.

I know PI is beautiful country.

But certain PI problems needs to be resolve immediately, like over-population,

corruption, economy/jobs, and etc.

Oh, the Philippines is one of the most corrupt country in Asia. Cambodia and Vietnam are the other country that are also on the top list of most corrupt country in Asia.

Beneath the surface, it has lots of problems.

Too many people, over 95 millions, most of them are very poor.

Lots of people are un-employed.

The infrastructures are crumbling, roads, bridges, sewer, electrical grid,

People has total disregard to the environment. Rivers and streams are

polluted. Forest are burned and lands are stripped.

Most politicians are scoundrels, corrupt up to the bones.

@dtwalnut everything you said is true....but one thing you can compare to other nation...we have the real freedom,happy loving people,kind and Godly,not other nation to many laws..go fishing in America and you need to pay, go drive without thinking getting a ticket..you think Philippines is a corrupt nation.what do you think if you pay lot of taxes and get ticket in every wrong move you do??is the same thing corruption.Philippines still better than other nation because we have the real freedom.

The mountain posted was Mt. Arayat not Mt. Pinatubo. This new expressway passes through the mountain range of Mt. Pinatubo Volcano.
