As nobody yet seems to have mentioned it in the comments here, it's worth pointing out that another major update regarding this song is that it is definitely out there. Last week a clip (with vocals!) with the alternate title 'Seagull Song' was released and posted online: watch?v=RJlgiw-dOZM While the guy who leaked it is reluctant to put the whole thing out it's good to know at least that it exists and is out there.
My god, the world really is full of losers.. they said (not me making it up in my crazy little fan mind) that is was discarded as it wasn't very good!! Puffy had a name, kinda guess that's it's name then?? Fuck me.. leave it out.
Mike Bordin reveals the song is 'Shuffle Song' (working title) and plays the intro with Jim's parts recorded in this vid:
watch?v=CIy3lpmQ16A
So, not a jam session, not an early version of any of the album tracks, just not good enough in the band's opinion to release. Mystery solved! Butpersonally I really want to hear the rest of it...
Yes I want also hear it. I think, that´s can be good song. Maybe quality sound quality nothing special, but now is FNM writing process death, so better something old, then nothing. Mike Bordin put the song on YouTube! We wont hear it!
it sounds like an early version of smaller and smaller. If you listen to around 2:00 into Smaller and Smaller the bass and drums are very similar if not identical
I'd agree that this is the Angel Dust title track. I can't remember exactly right now, but I read some interview where they refer to a song named "Angel Dust". Plus, that record was the only one ( up until then ) that FNM released withou a title track. Anyways, great work guys!!!!!
my bro did a little bit of research and found some low quality pieces that gave some important clues. it didnt have anything cut out. it also gave the name of the song
Just look around You Tube for the five parts of the Angel Dust sessions videos, you'll find these pieces scattered through several parts of these video.
Thanks but I was refering directly to 1234guyperson's comment which infers he has heard parts of the song which "gave some important clues. it didnt have anything cut out. it also gave the name of the song". I'd like to know where he heard this and where he heard the name of the track.
Even if Puffy has this song on DAT, I doubt there's any guitar since Jim was a bit of a slacker on this album. But I don't know...maybe there is. You would think if they finished the song (guitar, vocals, etc) it would have been released at some point. Good video though!! They mystery continues...
go onto mininova and get the torrent version of angel dust in the studio. there are ALOT more parts of this song in that video. and other parts in too like billy breaking his bass haha!
That outro with the seagulls is amazing -- so atmospheric. I bet Bill Gould and/or Roddy Bottum have more of this somewhere.... Would love to hear it...
Niiice! top detective work there man. This is actually more advanced than the rest of angel dust in some ways. it reminded me of prodigy alot. cheers!
Smaller and Smaller was one of the last tracks added to this record and was actually one of Jim's favorite solos he recorded. I believe this was the beginnings of a song that eventually got scratched. They kept some of the ideas though. There are some chord changes in this song that are found in Smaller and Smaller. If you listen to the bass...he's dicking around a lot. They're writing. The sea gulls sound like something used in the song, "Malpractice". (my two cents)
Has anyone else noticed the minor key keyboard parts sound almost exactly like 'Metal On Metal' by Kraftwerk? Maybe they didn't use the song cos they couldn't get the rights to that. 'Angel Dust' does use a lot of samples, after all. Amazing record.
ive just checked out 'metal on metal' and your defiantly on to something there. its very similar just played at a different speed. sounds like the same notes though. its a shame no one has this song though cause it sounds great. its such a tease.
btw i didnt think angel dust used too many samples? i just thought it there was that one in 'malpractice' and the two in 'midlife crisis', or is there more?
Fuck you. If you were a true, artistic, music lover, you would share it with all of us for free. You are one cotton pickin', greedy son of a bitch. Not to mention the fact that what you have probably sounds exactly like this.
He doesn't have the song, he was winding you up - as FNM were winding up MTV when they filmed these sessions. There was no song, it was just mucking about and making MTV viewers scratch their heads.

maybe this is the song "Angel Dust"! it could be the lost title track; it sounds like angel dust should sound.
BTW: notice there's no guitar

Go to their Wiki and find what band the key player is in. Go to his current bands myspsace and ask there.

Angel Dust has a lot of keyboard samples. There are some of them in:
A Small Victory
Malpractice (at the intro)
Smaller and Smaller (interlude with native voices)
Midlife Crisis (intro)
Caffeine (the dogs at the intro)
The World is Yours (intro)
Crack Hitler (sirens, the airport voice and military voices)
I think it was hard to play those songs live, but the studio tracks sound amazing with samples
