    One question, the foam is a "foam map"? I mean a geometry dependent solution that you store as a numbered still bitmaps.

    The website states that it "relies on OpenGL v. 1.5 and CUDA technologies.".

    And API has no saying on whether a polygon should look phony or not.

  • @DarkAnimeWindSlayer The general assumption written by Bill Gates in most computer users is that DirectX >>> OpenGL.

    So you'll excuse me if my eyebrows raise everytime I hear something along the lines of " DirectX makes [insert 3D application here] look much better". I'll jump on any occasion to make a stand, sarcastic statement or not. ;)

  • @Mkdesignx Apparently that how the internet community works mate and if I said OpenGL then most people will say "wut?" Using DirectX for my sarcasm line is more effective than OpenGL. The internet is full of wanking bunny shit and it will be hard to change due to the stubborn nature of human.

  • @Mkdesignx Hi there, DirectX10 has Stream Processors, OpenGL has pipelines, for full use of OpenGL you need all three pipelines (Pixel shader, vertex shader and geometry shader). Stream processors are unifide meaning every single SP can do each others job and that gives developers way more flexibility with their programming.

    Your GPU has stream processors, not DirectX.

    Your GPU has pipelines, they are inherent to the hardware.

    Now I'd be damned and have a big ass beard if I knew every detail about both APIs, so I'm going to ask this one simple question. Since you seem to have used DirectX in the past, have you used OpenGL and experienced this decreased flexibility firsthand?

  • @Mkdesignx What I meant was DirectX10 is the API USING the SP's (the previous DX used pipelines), and OpenGL is using pipelines and is more "primitive" (so they say), because of the use of pipelines.

    the reason for the "DirectX makes [insert 3D application here] look much better" is because of the use of SP's.

    and as I said, since their UNIFIED, each and everyone of them can do each others job.

  • @crativ3 What entices you to put USING in caps? What is DirectX 10 doing so awesome in comparison with OpenGL that it is USING (oh my gosh) the stream processors?

    All what a stream processor does (which I refer to as shader processor by the way) is execute a shader, in other words a small program written in ASM or C-like language, interpreted with the help of the GPU's driver.

    News flash, you can use shaders in OpenGL, and it involves a couple of function calls.

    Your question was if you have tested the difference? Well, have you? If you have, did you documented the test?

    OpenGL can do everything DirectX can but thru pipelines (SP's proprietary Microsoft DirectX)

    So.. SPs are proprietary, heh? Only DirectX can use them? Then how come I'm running my GLSL shaders on them as we are speaking, dimwit.

    What right do you have to come here and trash talk an open-standard API, talk about inflexibility or whatever technical word came through your mind, when you admittedly didn't even bother testing it, and don't seem to know jack shit about either.

    imagine playing cod modern warfare on that tanker stage and you see this to your left as your running for cover.
