If the free market did determine the price of healthcare, it'd be a lot cheaper than it is at the moment. And other comments are correct - there is no right to healthcare, and if you can find some clause in the Bill of Rights that says so, we'd all be interested to see it. The free market is not the cause of AIDS. People having unprotected sex and using i/v drugs are the cause.
No I can't point to a place in the Bill of rights that guarantees a "right" to health care but the Bill of rights has progressed if you remember we had slavery and African-American's were considered only 2/3 of a human being but the bill of rights put an end to that. and guaranteed the right to vote to everyone. The insurance system in the US is ridiculous, but a government-monopolized healthcare system will be even worse. There will be a massive leap in demand, because its free, so there won't be enough doctors of hospital beds to go around. You can look forward to months on waiting lists for even basic treatment. This is what happens in all countries with socialized medicine. It may be nice to say 'healthcare is a right', but this will deliver worse care at a a higher price.

If the free market did determine the price of healthcare, it'd be a lot cheaper than it is at the moment. The healthcare system in the US is over-regulated not under-regulated, and that's why it is expensive. And other comments are correct - there is no right to healthcare, and if you can find some clause in the Bill of Rights that says so, we'd all be interested to see it. The free market is not the cause of AIDS. People having unprotected sex and using i/v drugs are the cause.

No I can't point to a place in the Bill of rights that guarantees a "right" to health care but the Bill of rights has progressed if you remember we had slavery and African-American's were considered only 2/3 of a human being but the bill of rights put an end to that. and guaranteed the right to vote to everyone. The whole point being that the Bill of Rights is progressive and is to be amended as time continues or at least in my opinion. Also the whole point about AIDS was the treatment of it.

You have to make over $42K per year to qualify for private insurance though...meaning you're at the mercy of whatever BUTCHER is assigned to your case. Actually, we spend the most and get the least out of any of the major industrialized nations. Where the rubber meets the road, our health care system is faulty and fools like you think the solution is "if you don't like it, get the fuck out".

I may have an advocate to discuss my health care options - I agree. But, the end choice of HOW I GET SERVICE is up to me. You get NO CHOICE in Chile or wherever you talked about.
Still you miss the point, universal care is NOT the answer for USA's problems. It would ADD more problems to gov't control - which is what Hitler hoped to do...Einstein.

Gov't healthcare, as noted by Beck, is problematic because the GOVERNMENT IS NOT EQUIPPED TO BE IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY......no more so than the automotive industry either...but I digress.
Bottom line, USA's system is far from perfect. But, it still propogates the best in the industry to do the job they signed up to do - so they can make the most money they can make. Without the opportunity for capitalism to pervail, you get complacency. That's what you see in other countries.
