  • Not Zepppelin

  • @osopretty11 Sherlock.

  • @osopretty11 no shit, great none the less!

  • bad idea

  • Too much notes, but Cornell is very good - he sounds very similar to Robert Plant :)

  • 1:50 = my spine becomes an electrified jelly-like substance

  • i watched your videos and I just realized that I belong to your group on last fm. Good Job TannerCKG !

  • ahah insane XDDD

  • This is Disgusting

  • Sounds exactly like Plant. He's got his technique down to a t.

  • Chris Cornell = Best Vocalist, Best Genetics, Best looking, Best fashion sense.

    Chris Cornell is just perfect.

  • Very interesting to hear a throwback like this. Very cool!

@KobySGSRV Uh, no. Don't know where you crawled out of but just stop.

  • @hellfencer

ur probably blind.. well that's ok at least you can enjoy these fucking insane high notes. all the respect in the world to cc.

  • @KobySGSRV No, I just realize that there's no "end all, be all" of vocalists, genes, looks and fashion. Its all in your damn perception. Remember "eye of the beholder"? Yeah, that.

  • Fucking tremendous cover

  • Shyte

  • kick ass cover

  • This the closest to the real thing lol this is a fuckin amazing cover

  • this sucks cock

  • if reaaly exist reencarnation I wanna be Christ cornell next time

  • hmmm....I appreciate the effort by Soundgarden, a band I like and respect a lot, but Cornell still had his Rob Halford thing going on with his vocals here, and I don't think that fits this song too well.

  • heres the thing Robert Plant cant reproduce his vocals live quite as good as he can studio when they do 10000000000000 takes and master it.... Chris Cornell is just as good or better as a singer even though I like Robert Plants voice better

  • @PsychedelicLSD have you heard chris live recently? probably not if you think he better than Plant. dont get me wrong, I love Soundgarden, and Audioslave, but i wouldnt pay to see either of them live in this day and age because when i saw Chris perform solo, it was awful because chris sucks live,

  • @thecatspyjamasjay saw soundgarden headline lolla last year, he AND soundgarden was amazing.

  • @PsychedelicLSDHey kid... dont be an ignorant

Robert Plant early days were INCREDIBLES. Just listen the Danish TV Show, or any 68 - 73 show. BUT, in 1975 Plant got a VOCAL CORD infection. That was the reason why his voice failed in concert like Seattle, in 1977. All people will get old buddy... you, me...

AND, in 1969 there were few kind of voice masteries... not like nowadays, with the fckng autotune and thousands of cheap tricks haha... even justin bieber has a "good voice" haha

    Good luck

  • @PsychedelicLSD

Zepplin's first album was recorded in a week. Listen to the BBC sessions and you'll see that Plant sings every bit as well live as on album.

  • @PsychedelicLSD Robert Plant sounds better live tbh.

  • I pray to god Soundgarden have a full studio version of this somewhere and release it on their upcoming B-Sides album. They just did Led Zeppelin proud.

  • his voice seems like roberts voice , great .

  • @cast390 ,,,,u know fuck all about LZ or SG

  • dang chris cornell is crazy good

  • ain't that good enough...struggles at high notes!

  • at 1.51 Chris scream is S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-A-R

  • @slaskrevenge Best rock singer of all time. Incredible range.

  • @RevJim1313 his range isnt that big mine is bigger than his but he is definitely a better singer than i am

  • @Beatles117 this is late 80s early 90s we're talkin about

  • @TannerCKG so what some one would have had some thing. it nice but sounds just like led bro. no offense but i wont proof.

  • @TannerCKG Don't try to educate these mofos; they probably don't even understand why there would be no youtube in the 90s. You're just wasting your saliva.

  • @Beatles117 - Dude get clue. LUCKY! If you think it is LUCKY please find me a copy live with video. Good luck with that. I sure hope you are right. Thanks.

  • This sounds like Zeppelin at 2x speed. Pretty amazing.

  • I hate Chris Cornell, for being the douchebag he is (we all know people only listened to Audioslave for the guys from RAtM). But god damn, this is impressive, Makes me miss Soundgarden lots.

  • @vanhalenfan74729 When I got into Audioslave, I didn't give two shits about RatM. That has changed, but still, Cornell is a fucking awesome singer as well songwriter.

  • @vanhalenfan74729 I actually listened to Audioslave for Audioslave. Soundgarden has been my favorite band almost since then-I was four when they broke up so I had to discover them backwards-I could care less about RATM. I respect his decision for working with Timbaland. The product sucked, but the intention was to try something new and make money on the side.

  • @Eifler121 Same exact thing for me. I was 6 when they broke up.

  • @schumatrix We're the lost generation lol.

  • OMG! This is killer. I'm huge fan of both bands, what a score, I love how Chris covers Zeppelin songs. He is the best at it I think. Check out Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes though, its pretty cool too. Thx for sharing

  • plant was all power and range

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

  • cool :D

  • I think Chris Cornell is the only person that can sing Plant without sounding like a moron (well, besides Plant himself, obviously). Instrumentals kicked ass, too.

  • And Andrew Wood too!

  • Plant very rarely used falsetto. Get your facts straight.

  • I dont see how somebody who listens to Rock n Roll can say they arent influenced/familiar with Led Zeppelin, they are so ubiquitous. If you listen to Rock n Roll you know about 2 dozen Led Zep songs period.

  • Soundgarden's early days had the most unique guitar sound in the world - all that reverb and delay made it so psychedelic and tubish, dude, it was awesome!

  • I would give my left ball to hear this live

  • The Led Zeppelin of the 90's.

  • lol no reason to compare them, plant had a sweet intimate voice, but he only had a falshetto, cornell combined his with his chest voice, which i havent even seen the strongest of opera singers manage to duplicate, fact and matter for me, i love zeppelin and sg as two of my favorite bands, because each song is completely original, on a technical vocal level, i dont bother comparing anyone to cornell, which is exactly why he has his following some might be obsessed and some know what theyve heard

  • @easyeasy007

I know you're not slamming Plant, but I don't know if I would characterize all of Plant's high stuff, especially first album, as falsetto. Cornell might have taken it further for raw power, (as could be expected with 20 years to improve upon the original), but Plant ripped some vocal cords on the first album.

  • Yeah, Plant didn't sing falsetto.

  • @alexfanx ..... what? are you serious

  • @rondoliomercutio Yes I'm serious

  • @alexfanx thats ridiculous, plant sang in falsetto all the time. he had a naturally high voice i know, but he did still use falsetto.

  • @rondoliomercutio I've never heard any of his singing that sounded like falsetto.

  • @rondoliomercutio

It's not ridiculous at all, this has been debated about for decades, Plant had a naturally high tenor voice (and somewhat still has though it has altered and his use of his voice has changed too), Cornell too can sing high notes without falsetto, and he too does a great job, have seen them both live many times and they really know how to rock! :-o

  • @rondoliomercutio

I don't believe Plant ever used falsetto, it was almost always head/mixed voice, same as Cornell.

  • Dude. You shouldn't compare Cornell and Plant.

Plant is a giant influence on Cornell. This cover is more of showing that trait off.

  • Actually Plant isn't a giant influence on Cornell i watched an interview of Cornell a while ago and he was never really a big Led Zeppelin band and he was wondering why so many people were comparing Soundgarden's music to Led Zeppelin's music well they started listening to it saw that they were similar but Chris just sang this way on his own and wound up sounding similar to Plant. Pretty amazing.

  • @DavidKinner

    In fact he was.

He didn't listen to Zep until people started comparing him and Plant.

That's how he became a fan and did start listing Plant as an influence.

Also his brother was the one who used to listen to Zep when they were young. Chris preferred The Beatles and such.

  • @DavidKinner

I understand Cornell may say he wasn't influenced by Plant, but make a list of all of the high-pitched, gritty-voiced, insanely powerful psychedelic rock singers before Plant. It's kind of like any blues rock player saying he hadn't listened to a whole lot of Robert Johnson before he started.

  • He was influenced by rhythm and blues singers, just like Plant was. He doesn't sound THAT similar to Plant, I prefer Cornell's voice.

  • I heard Cornell say in an interview that Led Zeppelin never influenced him. It wasn't until after they made it big that he listened to them. The video I'm referring to might even be in the related videos

  • This does actually sound like SG and it's cool as hell

  • is this really Soundgarden? I have to have my skepticism thanks to p2p networks claiming crazy stuff and people posting them.

  • @DreathDragont

this is DEFINITELY soundgarden-i guarentee it!

  • wIN.

  • nice cover... love soundgarden.......great band :) but Chris Cornell should have never released that last solo album of his.. :S

  • @lagartuh yea or any of that audioslave shit.

  • u seriouse wen u call audioslave shit?

  • i luv this singer wats his name

  • Chris Cornell

  • Comment removed

  • awesome cover

  • Is it a beggar on 0:40 picture?

  • Holey hell. That's beyond what any human should be able to do.

  • i luv it! it all about the tribute man. zepp attributed guys like willie dixon and muddy waters, and soundgarden attributes led zeppelin.

it's too good not to keep alive! make it your own if you think you've got the talent.

  • It's hard to tell because of the quality of the file. But vocally, it's amaizing.

  • Musically maybe too grungy, but vocally the best i've ever heard live (including Zeppelin). Mindblowing the ease and power with which Cornell could hit impossible notes.

  • Then maybe you've heard a recording I haven't but I've heard three live Zeppelin versions of this song. In the early 70's Plant went down the ladder instead of doing the high notes, later 70's he cracked trying to get to the high notes. The studio version's amazing, but live Plant couldn't do this to my knowledge.

  • thats because in early 70s he was exploring his voice and he was not a 100% sure bout every note and in the later 70s (1974) he had to do a voice operation that made him unable to hit many notes and he coud not get that high as he did from 68 to 74

  • watch page and plant do "since i've been loving you" in '95, i can't remember the venue, but it was an outdoor concert. he hits some damn high notes

  • Glastonbury Festival

  • well robert plant coud reach C#6 notes and thats fucking insane note and hes using head voice no falcetto

  • aczeppelindc2908, listen to smokestack lightning by soundgarden and listen like 3 minutes into the song and see how high cornell goes' it's on youtube, and a live version of it too where he goes even higher

then talk to me about plant's range

  • hey i just listened to smokestack lightning, thats not that impressive. Listen to Since I've been loving you BBC sessions. Its on youtube. Plants still untouchable

  • yeah that's why he lost his voice after 'bout 1975. it was just too fucked up after all that insane screaming

  • oh i know man. if u wanna hear some crazy pwoerful notes than listen to I Awake from louder than love. it's intense as hell on the chorus.

  • It sounds like plant singing live.

  • Soundgarden didnt exist in the 80's? I love 90's grunge, but to label soundagrden as a little seattle band is almost criminal. The formed in '84 and was one of the biggest things going at the time.

  • chris cornell is the shit, i love maiden but chris only can hawl like plant!!

  • iron maiden version is munch better

  • i like this version but iron maiden's version is far better!!!!!!

  • Holy fuck he can hit Plant's notes.

  • Before starting this song chris goes like this: in a weekly they said: throw away your led zeppelin records 'cause soundgarden's here

  • fuck this cover is awesome....chris cornell is one great singer....his range is unbelievable...he is up there for me in the top five list with greats like plant n gillan for me..

  • You can really tell its Cornell around 2:20. "YEAHHHHH, YEAAAHHH" the patented wail, I love it

He does have a similar voice to Robert Plant though, but thats a compliment.

  • it is cornell ....

  • Dude... This is100% Cornell... This is 100% Soundgarden...

  • u have absolutely no idea what you are talking about this is soundgarden how can u not tell chris has such a distinctive voice and btw soundgarden did led zep covers in teh 80's as well as the 90's

  • uh they were formed in 84

  • yea ur right my b sry about that

  • its alright

  • Not bad.

  • yeah they destroyed this cover

i mean it in a good way

  • LED ZEPPELIN!!!!

  • 1:18

  • 1 : 18 Damn!

  • wow... fucking awesome... two of my favorites. Damn it I hope we start getting good music again soon :(.

  • they're perfect for this cover. IMHO early soundgarden were the only nineties band that managed to reach the musical level of led zeppelin

  • OH MAN! One of my favorite bands doin a frekin awesome cover of my favorite band.

  • Comment removed

  • He sounds alot like plant wow.

  • oh u rekon.. lol

  • Led Zeppelin is my all time favourite band, and I am proud to say this is an amazing fucking cover!!

The point of a cover is to add a new spin on, while keeping it great.

Soundgarden did this, too bad they never released this, absolutely hard core. Sounds exactly like Plant.

  • absolutely

  • you can definitely tell the difference between LZ and SG... classic and phasers haha, but bother are pretty damn good.

  • Bonham would be proud...

  • Not as good as Zeppelin

  • soundgarden kicks ass

a zeppelin influenced band that was actually original

    unlike them cocksuckers from wolfmother

  • hey wolfmother and soundgarden are both great bands influenced by another great band

  • But have you heard Wolfmother's cover of this? Fucking awful!

  • yes i have and compared to all the other bands who have done zeppelin its not bad especially for a band that came out of the millenium

  • Wolfmother blows.

  • man dont talk shit about zz top

  • Kick ass!

  • I've heard worse covers, Celine Dion doing AC/DC, Foo Fighters doing Pink Floyd, etc., but this isn't too bad. Not great, but not bad. Chris can definitely hit the high notes like Robert Plant (They are both considered great rock singers), but I think if you're not into grunge music then you probably won't like this.

  • I love Grunge and I love Led Zeppelin, so what's not to like? A lot of Grunge bands were influenced by Zeppelin.

  • haj890 i totally agree

  • me no like...

  • I like Soundgarden, but I have to LOL... this is an absolutely HORRIBLE cover. Better luck next time.

  • LIES!

  • nice

  • watch?v=hMcUCPojlGw&feature=channel_page

Check this performace from 21 November, 2008. That's insane.

  • that was embarresingly bad

why did they put that shitty effect on the guitar

    sorry that sounded crap

  • Because the idea of a cover is not to be the same as the original. Otherwise whats the point?

  • they shred it? no they make a so-so cover.

  • where can one get this song?

  • Soundgarden should have done a cover of "Immigrant Song". That would be fucking epic!

  • back when chris still had a voice. fucking sick. love this shit.

  • I always thought SG was one of the few bands worthy of Zeppelin cover. They had the all around talent for that music imo.

  • i've heard rumours that led zepplin might be doing a reunion tour, i've heard if plant doesn't want to be aprt of it Cornell is a front runner for the spot

  • doubt it...

  • i've heard rumours that dayzoftheweak just made that shit up like a crazy fool

  • He sucks live THESE DAYS. He's still got an awesome studio voice and he doesnt have the range anymore

  • to of my friends just saw him and said it was amazing so i dont know about that.
