@walkerusn Sir, my dad served on the Somers, DD381 for the duration. I remember his love for her. Because of that, and other influences I can, sort of, relate to your feelings. I think I'm right that she was a class leader, therefore, she commanded an escalated level of respect.. She served us well!! She went to her rest with class and great dignity. A beautiful vessal, indeed!! God bless you sir.
