@Indojerr go to your rack and right click on the switch that says "off/on/bypass" select "edit automation, then draw in where you want the effect to be on, the rest of the time it should be on bypass.
how can i record a vocal sample into reason 5 just using the built-in mic on my iMac? i don't see why you would need record 1.5 in order to that because it seems like that would make the sampling feature in reason 5 kind of useless if you have to use another program in order to sample. thats not sampling in reason 5, thats sampling using another program in conjunction with reason 5.
@randympreston it's done the exact same way as shown in the video whether you are using Reason as a standalone or inside of Record. You might want to open an NN-19 rather than kong to map it out better. If you want to use the sample in the Sequencer, then you are going to need Record. Reason is a MIDI sequencer. Record is a MIDI and Audio Sequencer. That is the difference between the programs. You use each one without the other, but when combined, they are amazing. But I understand your thoughts
@MrBrandonPeoples thanks for the reply, i figured it out tho. turns out i overlooked the Built-In Output + Built-In Microphone setting in the audio preferences haha. you wouldn't happen to know how to record a sample into reason rewiring it through pro tools, would you? i got it to work with the built-in mic on my mac, but i really wanna be able to record samples with my studio rig (which is a PC)
@randympreston hmmm I'm not familiar with rewire, but I had planned on doing so ProTools/Reason rewire videos once I have played with it a bit. I would assume that you could still sample inside of your reason devices.
@loogoo2 go to preferences>Audio> (beside audio device) built in mic-Built in output.
when you hit the sample button on what ever device you are using, it will record from what ever input you have assigned. so in the built in mic case, it will record from your built in mic. If you were to select built in input- built in output, it would record from your built in input.
@MrBrandonPeoples i'v doone the exactly same thign but my computer does not give me any input indice optionc it says 0 of 0 any idea of what can i do ?
nice videos you have there, ive got one question, i have an external audio card connected to a vinyl player! how can i record whats playing in my vinyl to reason5 using the same method you do in this video?
@FB05 if your wanting to record an audio track then you need the program "Record" along with "Reason." other wise you can just sample your vinyl an play it through any of the given samplers in Reason. to do so make sure your audio device is selected in preferences<Audio then play your vinyl and look above the master section in the rack so see where the input is.
the vinyl is connected to the input of my audio card, in reason i have my audio card selected!
the problem is when i hit play in my vinyl reason doesnt show any signal in the rack above.
i can listen the vinyl in my headphones and monitor´s but there is no signal in the reason like in your video when you are speaking i can see the signal.
@FB05 Im having the exact same problem with my guitar input right now and its doing my head in!!!! Where can i source record 1.5? cos thats what i need i think!
@FB05 have you tried connecting something else to your audio card such as an mp3 player? Try something besides your vinyl player to test and see if it works. You could have a faulty input on your audio card.
i can only get reason to sample material from my macbook using soundflower. Any1 else having my problem, where reason is not picking up the sounds that come from "line in?" i want to sample records without using audacity and str8 into Reason 5. thx
@djcharliehoodfresh that is odd. How old is your Macbook. another way to gain input is by using and external audio device. It takes place of Mac's Core Audio, you can get good one for cheap, I've been using the same one for 5-6 years. It's also the cheapest one you can buy it's an M-audio Fast Track usb.
@YouTriibe the master section is only in Record, beings record has it's own mixer, the Master Section is where you route all your audio to select what channel it goes to in your mixer.
HELP!!!! I don't have any audio inputs available! Meaning when i connect the "sampling input" to the "audio input" the light above and bellow the audio input is red. Which means connected but not available. My speakers and work fine and I can record with other software. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
You'd sample a Reason instrument for different dynamics. For instance, if you hyper compress something, each new note you play brings the level down. If you sample one note, each voice of polyphony has an independent envelope.
How do I record a toggle for an effect? like if you only want to use/toggle an effect for a short period?
