why are we comparing two great music composers. Don't compare rehman with Ilayaraja Sir. That would be foolish to compare. I believe both are great. India has given two great musicians let us cherish what they have done, rather than fighting who can do what? They have done many things and that is why they are maestro's.

I dont really think rehman can b compared to any of the top composers.. if u guys didn't notice, all the early work of rehman were direct ripoffs of other language music/songs. and yes india's given really good musicians.. compare illayaraja and rd.burman etc. not the likes of ar.rehman, yes he won an award (award winning - lobbying -> 60%). and the ripoff's haven't stopped, still going on!! will link it below

I dont understand why everybody needs to compare Rahman to ilayaraja. Ilayaraja is limited to melodies. Rahman is significant in various genres using different time measures that are complicated, yet easy to listen to.
