i agree i used to work for a rodeo company and we did alot of high school rodeos and all of our rodeo animals were all very well taken care of they had special blended feeds never underfed always doctored if needed ya know there are some good rodeo people out there i promise i have seen some bad and i have seen great! i think it all depends on the contrators

John Barnes does not abuse his rodeo stock. you know why he puts the hotshot by the bulls face first? to show him whats comin so its not as much of a suprize! it starts the heart rate instead of just shocking right away and making the heart rate rise so quickly.I ride bulls in a different circuit, we use hotshots and ALWAYS WILL. Barnes's stock is very well taken care of. you should see their ranch, the stock that dies is buried on uncle Bobs ranch with a cross because he DOES care about them.

Also, please remember that many of these events arose out of real-life situations of cowboys out on the range. Calves did need to be rescued or stopped from running off from the herd. Cowboys see the rodeo as an extension of a way of life that has deep meaning for them and is a heritage that has been all but lost in most parts of the U.S. The heart of a cowboy is that he was risking his own life to get those cattle safely where they needed to be (OK. So it was mostly the slaughter house.)

This is disturbing. I think the tough thing here is that cowboys and cowgirls love their horses and care for them well, seeing them as partners in work and life. And some rodeo events are just an exhibition of that relationship (like barrel racing). Most of these folks also spend a good deal of time caring for cattle on ranches, ensuring that they are well-fed, in good health, etc. However, it is undeniable that there is cruelty to certain animals like the bulls, broncs, and calves.
