"The titular characters are the devil's disciples -- with "cast iron for a bloodstream and ice behind their eyes" -- pursuing the tune's narrator who is searching for a burial place where they won't disturb his eternal rest."
WHO CARES WHAT THE R&R HALL OF FAME SAYS THERE JUST A BUNCH OF BLOW DICKS AND THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW GOOD ROCK ARE HERE LISTENING TO KICKASS "BOC" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@fligemon I... Actually spent a very long time researching this, and apparently according to Albert Bouchard, the "Diz" is the cleft of a penis, and the "Buster" relates to the "Dusters-Dust", which is an allegory for semen, so basically the "Diz-Buster" is something that causes that....
Or they just were so bad ass they ran out of real stuff to rock about...
(I have a source for the first thing, but cant post it because apparently youtube won't allow websites in comments)
One of my favorite songs of all time. And one of my favorite bands. My father introduced me to the brilliance that is BOC when I was a little kid and been a fan since. Not only is the immagination and immagry in there songs and albums brilliant. But incredibly inspiring. Oh, and don't listen to this song on the highway. Great way to get a ticket for going twenty over.
On a express train in Germany 1975 headed for a rock show On Your Feet or On Your Knees BOC!, these Five guitars played together to definately get you entertained .
Just a great tune....perfect for my "high"school daze in the '70s. I really loved the way one song leads to another on the original vinyl. I remember the anticipation at the end of this song to get to the second side (the black) to hear "Baby Ice Dog".
I am reopening comments on this video. I hope the quality of the comments will improve...I'd hate to have to close them again. Please take any personal fights somewhere else...

Buck just plays the shit out of that SG man!!! Got to see these guys several times. Once as The Stalk Forrest Group at a high school dance for like $2.00 back in the early 70's!
The live version of this song rips my polk momos to shreds. The bass and distortion just is to hostile. But the bass in it rumbles like a juggernaut. Its the one where he mentions he sells his soul for a record contract, hangs in the old age home with elton john and jeff Beck and then 80 years later the devil comes to collect.
BILDO234--Got that right brother. Can you hear the clapping & FOOT-STOMPING between "Cities On Flame" & "ME-262"? That part was recorded at the Long Beach Arena & I was there! Look at the credits on the album, I mean, ahem, the CD. Yes, I'm showing my age, but to have seen BOC in their "Pre-Reaper" days. Mind-expanding my friend.
Yeah! Holy shit! Got the '01 remastered version 2day from Bestbuy. It's awesome! Also have Secret Treaties, Argents of Fortune, and Spectres(all remastered). They're great. Now, Sony/Columbia/Legacy, remaster Cultosaurus Erectus, Fire of Unknown Origin, and the 2 other live albums
Hell yeah, to BOC me are one of the finest American hardrock/metal bands of the '70's. I mean sure Sabbath started the whole heavy metal genre but BOC made heavy music which to me was more thoughtful and inspiring than BS and not only that their album covers are much better than any the more popular and successful Black Sabbbath ever had. The lyrics to BOC's material is far more interesting than just about any other rock band of their time, particulalry Sandy Pearlman's lyrics.
Yes those are good, but the album covers for BOC's fist three albums, Agents of Fortune, Spectres, Some Enchanted Evening, Fire of Unknown Origin, and Extraterrestrial Live are pretty damn cool. Don't get me wrong Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a great album cover but its just is too blatant with the Satanic imagery with the 666 above the bed and everything, it is a bit unimaginative whereas BOC were a bit more clever with the use of any sort of symbolism.
I'm 21 and that is mostly the music I listen to these days. Although it may be old it definitely took more skill and mastery and beats the hell out of any music coming out being produced by the mass media today.
"...who lurk behind the rose..." "...and ice behind their eyes..." Are you freaking kidding me?!? ASS-KICKING!!! No better song to blow out one's speakers to.
Thanks Lib62! Did any other band ever incorporate such varied & intelligent themes, not only in their Music, but the Artwork & Symbology employed on their Album Covers, Posters & Backstage Passes? Although labelled the "Thinking Man's Heavy Metal Band", BOC never got critical acclaim or respect from the trend obsessed pseudo-journalists that maintained squatter's rights at "Rolling Stone" & "Spin" Magazine in the 70's-80's. The same "Greenwich Village Yodas" who vote today on the R&R Hall/Fame.
Yeah I agree they never got the credit they deserved. While they are considered a "metal" band I don't think of them that way...they transcend any one genre of music. And don't even get me started on the R&R HoF people. Hell Rush hasn't made the "Hall", what chance does BOC have? Rolling Stone's Jan Wenner is f'ing clueless...
Deep Purple isn't in either. I can remember several years ago, Jan & another egomaniacal R.Stone alum. on the Induction Committee giving a snide diatribe, addressing all the reasons why "Black Sabbath" wasn't deserving, & would never be in the R&R Hall. Well they're in now, so maybe it's just a matter of time & passing on of certain "Deluded by their own lofty perception of self importance" journalists that will set the Universe back to its' natural balance,....well, at least in Cleveland Ohio.
@SPAZZOBOXER you're right. f*uck the hof. i mean madonna is in it. i know that there are different kinds of rock, but come on, madonna? beside, BÖC is one of the ebst and most influential bands. they freakin' invented the umlaut!!
@SPAZZOBOXER That's nonsense, BöC got PLENTY of critical love in the 70s - even from Rolling Stone, hardly a hotbed of heavy metal fandom! They were a "critic's band", after all. (And Spin magazine didn't even exist until the mid-80s, by which time the Cult had begun to suck anyways.)
This is a great song. Takes psychedelia in a direction it hadn't taken before.
