In 89 at the end of the visiting Lakers game in Boston (Lakers winning comfortably), Worthy shoves McHale in the back to get a defensive rebound and loud as anything McHale screams 'Aw FUUUCK' as the ref swallows his whistle...classic.
Absolutely the best power forward ever. Watching him was just an endless well of entertainment as he'd spin defenders around until they forgot what team they were on and who they were supposed to be guarding... lol
@Soundtrack1000 well, i would hakeem in that mix. at end of his career, kev was a great shooter as well since his feet failed him. but as much as i like him, that was not a foul and he was the classic whiner along with ainge. too bad pierce will likely be taking him out of the greatest 50 ever list!
I've heard Laimbeer say plenty of times he didn't really like basketball all that much, that it wasn't his passion. But he said he was big tall and fairly strong so he was good at it and made money at it.
You gotta understand during that time i was a die hard bulls fan, like 8 years old. he brought tears to me eyes w his hatchet jobs, bridges, and all around injury causing self. Game6 1989 scottie pippen, nuff said
however, 'jump shot cunts' has now entered my lexicon
First of all what an absolute stupid video , but what is really stupid is that was laimbeer saying oh my god you idiot. I watched this game live and that was laimbeer who said that , how you come up with mchale is weird , laimbeer was reached over the back by mcchale , and he was given contact and could have been a foul and was trying to draw it. Oh by the way laimbeer has said "oh my god" in other games as well. The video sounds as clear as day thats laimbeer's voice what is the issue?
Lol! I think it's the commentator who shouted "OMG!", not McHale. I don't think they even have those "hear courtside" technology that they have now (the ones where you can hear what the players on the court is saying).
I have to disagree. They definitely had those crowd mics back then and it sounds like McHale's voice too. First you hear Mike Gorman say "squeezes it off", the McHale says "OMG" and then you hear Heinsohn point out the non-call.
@janglar Actually it's, "Now there's a steal by Bird, underneath to DJ who lays it in! Right at one second left!! What a play by Bird!! Bird stole the inbounding pass! He laid it up to DJ and DJ laid it up and in and Boston has a one point lead with one second left!! Oh my, this place is going crazy!!"
I was wondering the same thing... its an odd choice of video to post considering the hours and hours and hours of great Celtics footage... I fail to see anything about this video that says "OMG"
The more I see what Garnett is doing to bring back the once glorious but recently dead Celts franchise this year the more I suspect he did it on purpose to help his former team.
I think it was Dirk Minnifield (not sure of the spelling). This clip was from 1988 and I'm pretty sure Sudden Sam won a ring with the '86 club. He may have held on for the '87 season but it's defnitely not him in this clip.

McHale's not yelling because Laimbeer hit him, he's yelling because another Piston (Adrian Dantley?) is yanking on his jersey from behind.
