for those of you who can't see you're video file moving with the mesh; follow these steps -
First assign an animation file (AVI, MOV, or IFL file) as the viewport background.
Turn on Animate Background.
Choose Customize > Preferences. On the Viewports panel, turn on Update Background While Playing. Now the background plays when you click Play, or when you drag the time slider.
Where did the cube come from that you imported? I did this in PFTrack using geometry tracking, but I have no object for the Terminator's head to follow. Is there any way to link the head (or the hidden biped's head) to the mesh so it will just follow its rotation?
@vfxworld Are there helper points attached to the terminator which control the head's rotation directly, or are you referring to the "head follow" helper?
@vfxworld Just to be clear, as far as I can tell PFTrack exported Only the mesh. So I have a mesh in Max which rotates etc just like my head. Now I need to somehow link the Terminator's head to my mesh, but I have no points or objects to use the Dummy_head_lookat helper. If I link the skull to the mesh, only the skull follows it. How can I make the whole Terminator's head follow the mesh? And thank you for the replies

So in 6 (Aspect Ration Panel) set it to Match Bitmap, in 7 uncheck Lock Zoom/Pan.
I also don't remember which format I set the footage to be.
If it's an image sequence, go klick in "Files" in "1", select one pic of the sequence and there should be a box somewhere where you can click in "Image Sequence" or so.

And your advantage of this is that you dont need to leave the software so you can preview it directly during painting in the 3D Space with footage and on... ;)

mine looks nothing like yours when i run my max script it is ver6 or later it just looks like a big yellow box with a segment of link poking out and the mesh is a big mess!
Hello, for some reason when I get to the step of trying to display the actual movie in 3dsmax, it does not happen. Is there anything that would cause this?
Be sure that you exportet the mesh from synthEyes and fram 0 and when importing and rotating the mesh in 3ds max, you should be at frame 0,too. And be sure all the settings are correctly like in my tutorial (when importing the object and aligning the objects pivot point).
There is an other method to align the mesh, but first try if this works.

@hundley10 ye, PFTrack exports the tracking data to the helper points if I'm right.
So just link the mesh to the helper points.

Does not matter which one. The mesh will than follow the motion of your head.

@leviont It's usual, that the script data is not near the grid.
In that situation, you can a) simply move the whole data or b) set up a counstrain in SynthEyes.
Be sure to import the mesh individual and the motion script individual.

I have rotation problems. The Mesh will not sit how i should on the face after rotation. How much should i rotate?
