Atlanta Police Shortage - Budget Mismanaged

Go work for Gwinnett, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Cobb, etc and you will make far more money, have better equipment, take home cars, etc and not have to deal with reverse racism, crappy dispatchers, crappy city administrations, being spit on and called a pig by the welfare queens and crack monsters that cover most of the city.

Atlanta is a slum and they treat their officers like shit. Why? Because you have a feel good liberal city administration.

APD sucks ass. I got a nieghbor who left APD and now working with cobb county police and hes making somewhere from $5,000 more a year. I havent heard nothing good about APD....thats bad...I say clean house and start from scratch

Well, I'm a junior at FSU (23 years of age) and was thinking about joining the APD's next recruiting class. To be honest, it would just be a job for me with no career goals with the department. Unfortunately, I think it's the mentality of most people my age.... On their current pay scale, I'd make $41,000 my first year because I have an AA degree, a person who's been there 5 years (because of the budget crisis) would make $2,000 less.

Officers are being prosecuted and fired for wrongdoing because of the irresponsible quotas they are desperate to meet. Allocating more money to the City of Atlanta is the last thing we need. The City government is WAY TOO CORRUPT! The reason for the Officer shortage is the City government pissing away the money. Officer recruits come to City of Atlanta Mandate for our excellent training, put in their required 2 years, gain impressive street creds, then leave for better paying agencies.

@vmacfa All the good officers go work in cities that treat them well, show respect, back them up, pay them, etc. Atlanta SHITS on its officers so they leave for Cobb, Gwinnett, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, etc. These are top notch departments that will pay top dollar for the best most professional officers.

All Atlanta PD officers need to quit and go to Cobb County PD. You will be treated much better, receive better pay, benefits and you will always get back-up from co-workers and the city agencies - and you will only have to ask once and everyone will come running. Get out of Atlanta and into the good life. It is not worth it to stay.

Ok, we'll tell that to the citizens who want officers to come and deal with thugs drug dealing, fighting and committing crimes to wait for over 45 minutes (yes, we have timed APD in their responses) to come deal with the situation. Tell that the citizens at NPU meetings who frequently complain abou the lack of police presence in their communities patrolling, only time we get patrols is when something major happens and then everyone wants to show "oh look, we are on the job."

I agree. When you have a police shortage, traffic should not be a top priority. It's so funny how I see cops on interstates near rough neighborhoods but I never see them on patrol in these areas. When you go to the community meetings or ask the upper brass, its always we have so much to do. Whatever.

And they taught you how to spell and write too. I bet you are probably a graduate of Atlanta Public Schools as well. Back to the subject, since you clearly left it. Again, you can thank your Fulton County court system for re-releasing criminals back into the streets, you can thank your NO SNITCH policy and you can thank your APD officers who don't show up to court to testify. But again, you have all the answers and everything is people like us who call it for what it is.
