Actually the story of Beauty and the Beast isn't hypocritical at all, it does teach not to judge on appearances. Thus the whole transformation of the crone into the beautiful enchantress and beasts transformation from the beautiful prince into the beast. It's a reversal of the rolls from the start of the movie. Beast has to find someone who will love him in spite of his appearances.

You missed the point entirely of Beauty and The Beast. The love between Gaston and the "town prostitutes" is about selfish lust. Gaston only want's Belle because she's beautiful. Not like the love between the Beast and Belle which is based on personality. Same with Mulan, Chang falls in love with her not because she's perfect woman but because she is brave and strong and clever. You completely missed the point of all of these films.

The overall messege of the movie is that the inner appearance matters over your outer appearance, no DUH they aregoing to emphasize what society says about beauty. And as for the Mulan scene, in that time (because it was based on a true story) that is what was required to be a perfect bride (society again) and the picture od Meg that you used after that scene, Disney based most of their art on the carvings from ancient Greece. You missed the point entirely of Beauty and The Beast. The love between Gaston and the "town prostitutes" is about selfish lust. Gaston only want's Belle because she's beautiful. Not like the love between the Beast and Belle which is based on personality. Same with Mulan, Chang falls in love with her not because she's perfect woman but because she is brave and strong and clever. You completely missed the point of all of these films.

ok so I know this doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the video, but if you'll notice Mulan's time era was set in the time where that's ALL men wanted from their women. they wanted them to be pretty, from a good family, and a hard worker. It's not really subliminal, it's kind of factual. Some men nowadays even want all three so I don't see how thats "infulencing" (sp?) children.
