  • How can something so sad make me so happy?

  • I get to watch young people live this song each year. As a high school teacher, I see it in their work, faces, decisions. I try to reassure them it will be, and they need to accept that. I don't tell them it will be OK, because, sometimes it won't. But, if they will live where they are, in the now, it will be, and they can too.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who's scared of everything.

  • You're awesome, Benjamin. Much appreciate you. :)

  • what does your xylophone say?

  • Thank you for being corageous and telling us about your fears. This way you help me finding courage too. Apart from the core meaning, the melody wrapping it up is lovely <3. A tight and warm hug! Sat Nam

  • Very rarely does something uplift my mood in an instant the way this song did. You have changed the course of my day for the better and I thank you, and your poetic music for that. Please keep playing because the more ears you reach, the better.

    -Your newest fan.

  • I'm jealous of your facial hair. Honest to goodness, even if my music never reaches this level, I hope I'll be able to grow an awesome beard.

  • This is a song that is very easy to relate to. Though it may not prove profitable to be scared all the time, these are things that we all are afraid to think about now and then and I'm sure that knowing other people are scared of the same things is comforting to most. It makes you feel as though you aren't alone. :)

  • "i wonder what it's like to die, and will all colors leave my eyes, and will my soul survive in darker light."

  • what are the chords for this??!!

  • Wow, I am impressed, the way this song is pieced together is absolutely brilliant, did you mix the entire track on your own?

  • Are you an music teacher?

  • Lauren and lithium

  • This song reminds me a lot of Eels. Mostly it's the tenderness, but also that Casio keyboard sounds like something from one of his songs.

  • this is prob one of my favorite songs ever. and i thoroughly enjoy the video.

  • sweet beard bro

  • La la la lalal la, la la la la la ......

  • im scared that i'll always be scared of what i can't control,

im not so scared of change, of the future i could explore

im just scared of memories: each a paralyzing bullet hole

im not so scared that i should die rich or poor

im just scared i might spend my life never to know my soul

(if u can't tell, i think this song is incredible)

  • That's a great tune dude.

  • i love a couple of your songs for sure. Something older in your voice or the like. That and you know your gonna be an awesome looking mountain man in your 50s/60s

  • fantastic song! also, i had that same keyboard at 1:11 when I was a kid... weird seeing it again...

  • lol wow i love you I wanna sing with you lol

  • This is adorable and inspirational at the same time. :) I love it.

  • Whoa! You got a beard lol. This is cool

  • The first line or two you look and sing exactly the way Lauren O'Connell does. Amusing :)

  • This is real music.

  • flower guitar in the background is AMAZING

ps. so is this song in general.

  • ive listened to a few of your songs and the lyrics are wow but this song inspires me to take more risks because nothing is set in stone and the only sure thing in life is that we can never be sure of anything so thank you

  • this is a beautiful song- you remind me of adam green or noah and the whale. You're still original, but I get that same tingly feeling when I'm listening to it, and the more you pay attention to the lyrics the better it is. I love this.

  • Is Lauren O'Connell related to you? You look and sing like a guy version of her.

  • I REALLY want your album. I just gotta scrounge up some money.

  • this is how I feel now so I'm glad somebody sung about it. thanks.

  • Wonderful song and lyrics.

    Kindly

    Stig

  • incredible! instruments!

  • MTV eat your heart out (if you ever had one). With all your splash, gash & cash, you could never create a music video as elegant and simple as this. Bravo to you, sir. ~Jon

  • Fantastic video, amazing music. I am so glad I found you (through Lauren O'Connell), and you can expect to get my money very soon

  • Being terrified of inevitability has never worked out too well for me personally. Especially after the inevitable actually happens and you realize you spent all that time worrying about it instead of properly enjoying what you had while it was there...

    nice song though

  • That was a very insightful youtube comment. Thank you.

  • Really well written, thoughtful lyrics and music. Thought it was really great art. I know what these thoughts are like. They seem sad but they also keep you present I believe. Great work. Loved it.

I think the world would be a better place if you and Lauren posed for a picture reminiscent of American Gothic. Abe too, of course.

  • Benjamin, as a songwriter your lyrics contain a rare honesty. You truly have something special happening here. Keep up the amazing work. :)

  • This made me so happy and sad at the same time. It really spoke to me.

  • I bought your previous album the other day and now it looks like I will definitely have to get this one. This song is a musical and lyrical joy to listen to. You remind me of a more melodic Jeffrey Lewis ... you have that same vulnerable quality and whimsical lyrics. Fabulous !

  • You are so adorable. And your music is wonderful.

  • you and lauren should go out :) and then do a song with jack and nataly :)

  • Loved the ending, great use of instruments too!

  • that really cheered me up ... thx
