I just slaved the send of my effects loop into a mesa 20/20 dyna watt power amp. Ran the outputs of the Dyna watt into seperate 1X12's wet with a 2X12" Mesa Vintage 30 loaded cabinet driven by the Egnater. Like a pseudo Andy Timmons setup. Huge. Could gig with this no problem. I just love this amp. Very inspiring, great voice.
I purchased this little "devil" used, 2 weeks ago. Took it to a rehearsal first, to try it with a band, because there were some skepticism about it's power and the question was can it handle the rest of the band?!
I came to the rehearsing room, turned it on, left the EQ flat and the brightness switch was already on... I cranked it up... WOW! Working on 1W is loud enough for rehearsals with a band.
What pedals do you find best for volume and gain boosting? Serial or parallel loop?Tnx
@spiraless NP, thanks for the answer anyway :) I found out that a Voodo Lab Sparkle Drive works awesome with this amp. I play it in serial chain, still didn't try the loop.
This is easily one of the best amps in it's price range. It handles every style of music beautifully. I remember the 1st time I tried one out I was playing a Mesa Mark V and was like I wanna try out this little amp and it had just as much power and such a lush tone. It can play metal, jazz, and everything in between.
@AxisOfEternity Hello, well I don't know, it depends of what you are looking for.
Speaking for my self, I don't like Mesa Boogie amps (and it's not a sarcastic comment), I'm into the 6L6 clean sound (think better than Fender) and into the EL34 crunch/lead (think Marshall on steroids), this little amp can do a lot of things depending of your set up (guitars, effects, cables and fingers).
It's not the better amp in the world (I hate this definition), but it defends him self very well...
@AxisOfEternity You can mess with the tube mix and the wattage but its more meant for practice/recording with a cranked up tone at low volumes, nice amp for sure but the Mark 5 is all u need for live ever in my opinion.
I have a question, if it's cool. On these rebel 20's, do you have to turn the volume up to get good distortion sounds? I mean, can you play it at a level that you could have a conversation over and still sound good?
Good sound, man! Does your Rebel have moded FX loop (should be sticker at the back)? I also used Lexicon LX-1 in the loop on mine Rebel, but it generated much more noise due to original, not moded loop. Also, what pick-ups are on your guitar? Any mods on tube set or all stock?
How does it sound on low wattage ammounts, like 1-5w?

@marksimon94 Thank you ;-) I'm sorry for the late reply. I don't use this amp any more, in the matter of fact, I've made just the test.

What's the Egnater going to do that my Mesa cant do already?
(this is not a sarcastic comment, but a serious Gear Head question)

@DisasterBlaster500 Yes, you can dial a good distortion sound on a conversation level.
That is exactly the way I did it. ;-)
