If the show wasn't great it would not have lasted this long...and 10 season's is an amazing run not just great....not many shows last that long. 4 seasons is counted as successful, so imagine what 10 means. Seinfeld - 10 seasons, friends - 10 and Smallville is the longest running sci-fi show in the U.S

@dimitar1 THANK YOU, smallville has become crap in its later seasons, theres no argumaent there. when the ORIGINAL creators/writers/producers left it became a whole different show. and the later seasons saw the departure of the characters like lex, lana, lionel, martha, and even kara(supergirl) as regular cast memebers.

I think after Season 7 is where it went from "great" to "amazing". No more teenage angst, far less pointless Freak of the Week characters, and a more mature feel to the show.

As a lifelong Superman fan, I don't think the early Seasons can even hold a candle to the amazing TV Smallville has put on for the last few years.

@BigEvil6686 Are you kidding me, the early seasons made Smallville what it was; an great show with high potential. (rare for a comic superhero show)it was created to tell the untold stories of young Clark Kent in his high school years, so theirs gonna be teenage angst. They started story arcs in the middle of the first season so that the whole "Freak of the Week" didn't get old. I'm still a huge Smallville fan but the series got dull and predictable. Majority of fans watch it online now.

The early Seasons were 99% filler. You could cut the first three Seasons to about three episodes' worth of footage and not miss a single important thing. Season 5 is where the show finally became truly awesome. Seasons 6 and 7 weren't quite as good as 5, but were still a lot better than 1-4. Season 8 brought the show to where it needed to be, a Superman show. Since Season 8 Clark has been Superman in everything but name.

@BigEvil6686 Look, nobody watches the show live anymore, That is the reason this is the last season.( even though 10 season's is a great run) The creators promise that no tights, not cape. But they soon left several seasons ago as executive producers due to the fact that the studio had other plans. The ratings are abysmal, drastically cutting the budget and production value. Instead of continuing being # 1 hit show, smallville became nothing more than a schedule filler for the network.
