@miracle2606 Depends on what type of fertility treatment you receive. For example, IVF involves egg retrieval, which uses a very thin needle inserted into your ovaries under ultrasound guidance. This "surgical procedure" may sound painful, but most patients don't feel much of a pain.
Infertility is a sensitive subject to discuss, especially not knowing the time frame a couple should get pregnant by, according to their age bracket. Most people want results after the first few months and start worrying if nothing happens right away.
It seems like knowing when to seek infertility treatment is a really tricky question for couples struggling to get pregnant. I love Dr. Barad's explanation of how infertility is really only defined by individual couples experiences.
@RobynNazarRN yeah i agree, i think it's kind of whitewashing all the issues that couples have by defining infertility as "the inability to get pregnant after __ year(s)" for ALL couples. this is even more of a problem for couples who are trying to get financing for infertility treatments and HAVE to fit into this medical definition of infertile.
you noted 80-90% of the time you can identify the cause of infertility...how do you do that? there are a number of tests i imagine before you start full-on infertility treatment...
