this kinda happened to me the day after christmas and it flew about 200 feet i accedently esc the app and i ran from the back ward 2 blocks the engenss quit and it was free falling from 200 feet and the last 4o feet the engens came pack on and it just tapped down in a field how convienet

It was pretty crazy high - from the ground it was a speck!

can u elaborate plz, AR drone doesn't have audio recording, and the front camera isn't this good...i think u attached another light weight camera right?

this might contribute to the stabilisation problem btw, and (according to the manufacturer FAQ sheet) reduce the motor's life

i think it's fine if u disattach the indoor flying hull...it's lighter that way

@lordleoo I used a HD Keychain 808 camera attached to the top of the hull.

It's weight is negligible and doesn't affect stabilisation at all.

@AzzaTwirre Thanks for that! That's a great tip with the ARDRONE tag. I've got Mercalli V2 which is excellent stabilising software but sometimes it seems to make the video feel a little too detached. Wanted to get the visceral feel of a Drone alone for this one! ;) 500m range would be crazy fun!

You'd find THIS guy very interesting - extended his range out to 500m. AND used youtube's editor to stabilise the image

Thanks. Yeah it's 1.7.1. I think the dreaded altimeter bug forced it up out of control range and then it didn't hover until it got over the houses because the grass below it was all the same and it couldn't tell it was moving. I was amazed it stopped and waited for me!

that was good flying plus it went on its own and stay hovering somewhere that good what version are you useing this it the v1.7.1?
