  • BEST PROMO EVER :) ECW 4 LIFE

  • you know I remember watching this on TNN, but the network muted it and put some kind of text scrolling at the bottom of the screen. I really don't remember what was scrolling down at the bottom, but I didn't understand what was going on till the ECW DVD came out.

  • One word .....legend

  • WE'RE DEAD!

  • BEST SHOOT EVER

  • For those who don''t know:

TNN is now Spike TV; the same network that has TNA.

  • this is a fucking shoot screw cm punk's one every body is getting all hyped up about

  • paul heyman rules

  • Lotsa Paul E. hate on here...not saying he didn't end up screwing people left and right the last couple of years...but you have to admit he led ECW to territory it had never been, almost to the verge of breaking out...but it's like the Green Party trying to break out of the Democrat/Republican grip...he just couldn't compete with WCW and WWF's money

  • @H8LQV Um, messiah? Creative genius? Yeah, the guy employed a few bar bums and had them try to kill eachother. He also bounced more check's than even he can count. The guy is a Grade A idiot. Guy's like Sandman, Raven, Richards, Axl Rotten, Ball's Mahoney, are all has-been's. The guy ran his own company to the ground, by himself.

  • @anthonykingofkings I have more respect for those "bar bums" than fags like Cena or Orton.

  • @asnaes Ok, since you made that statement, I see no reason to argue with you. Clearly you can't separate talent, passion, and relevance from irrelevance, fat drunk, and has-been's.

  • @anthonykingofkings You're an idiot. You clearly will never understand the magic ECW truly was. Sure, you might call them has been's NOW 'cause it's 2011, but you compare these ECW icons to shit wrestlers like John Cena back in 1998, ECW would eat them ALIVE. AND THAT'S A FACT.

  • i wish someone from tna would do a segment like this on impact ''THROW US OFF THE AIR!!''

  • 4 people like Vinnie Mac :-( He's ruined professional wrestling in the United States!

  • such a hypocrite, he became vince mcmahons whore like a year after this aired.

  • "I dare you to throw me off the air !"

They did. And they killed ECW.

  • @kefkasakura

And then Vince brought it back and PISSED on it and laugh. HAHA good days.

  • Praise the gospel according to Paul E.

  • @Seanatonin yes Praise paulie E

  • Sports Entertainment is a weapon that is used to destroy Professional Wrestling.

It wasn't enough for McMahon to kill ECW. He then had to create an absolutely bastardized version of it just so he can put a title belt with the letters E,C, and W on it and prance around with it around his waist.

What we see now is what ECW would have been if it had been handled by assholes like Vince Russo and egotistic scumbags like McMahon.

FUCK Sports Entertainment and the guys who employ it. Fuck 'em.

  • @CMY187 your a fag

  • @CMY187 Sorry to break this to you, but...professional wrestling IS sports entertainment; it's BEEN sports entertainment since the early 20th century. The last "real" pro wrestling match was almost a century ago.

  • I think if ecw was toned down a bit...just a little bit then maybe ecw would have been bigger than wwf. too bad its not around today

  • I'm pretty sure that they bleeped this whole segment when it originally aired.

  • Comment removed

  • what a fucking idiot. always crying about something.

  • Tnn the evilest network in tv history i have to admit they treated ecw like crapp, even though i hate original ecw.

  • I remember this airing on Hardcore TV because TNN, for some odd, unknown reason, didn't want the person they allowed on their network to run them down on their network.

  • that was an exceptional promo

  • Amen, Paul. Fuck TNN for that.

  • TNN totally screwed over ECW and everything Paul E. said is truth

  • @MIKETX76 I disagree with that. Without TNN they wouldn't have made it through 1999. Look at TNA. Spike TV gave them certain rules to follow, TNA does/did and Spike TV kicks in for a lot of TNA's higher priced talent, thus helping TNA out. If Paul would have at least tried to play ball, who knows? They may be on the air today.

  • @MrWCW2000 and how do you justify TNN not airing one commericial or advertisment for ECW? TNN gave ECW absolutly no support whatsoever

  • @MIKETX76 I say people didn't watch TNN enough, because my brother always was watching that damn channel during that time on other days of the week, and there were always commercials for the Friday Night Thrill Zone.

  • @MrWCW2000 Yeah llike commericals for Rollerball and other crappy shows but not one for ECW. They treated ECW like garbage

  • @MIKETX76 No, it was for the entire lineup from 7-11. It was some Monster Truck show at 7, ECW at 8, Rollerjam at 9 and Rock n Bowl at 10. Did they run commercials on the other networks CBS owns? Probably not.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrWCW2000 Yeah, in that ECW documentary, Tommy Dreamer did say Paul was a terrible buisnessman, or something along the lines of that. And Tommy Dreamer was pretty much Paul's right hand man in ECW...

  • Well at least heyman supports his fans like the fans supported him back then..Vince does not care about the fans some of you people need to understand that corporate bosses such as the likes of Vince mcmahon don't deserve the money or fame that they have, why? because they abuse the power they are givin they don't care about anything but Greed and thereselves! Paul Heyman on the other hand at the time did have a greedy side but at the same time cared for his fans he created ECW for the fans.

  • I have to hand it to Heyman, he's one hell of a hype man. But when it comes right down to it, back in the day (Maybe even now) he was never mature enough to handle things like an adult would. It's always these threats, jokes made to the opponent & attempts at intimidation that kept me from ever liking him. I liked ECW when it was good but I could never stand to see Heyman run his mouth. I'm surprise he's not affiliated with TNA since that's what their fans seem to like.

  • @LatinMafia64 Define "handling things like an adult" you mean sucking corporate ass and having no control over your own product offering absolutely nothing to anyone who isn't looking for candy coated bullshit? Heyman never got the support from TNN and TNN no longer exists now anyway so obviously they were a shitty network to begin with. I fail to see what's so immature about voicing your discontent with a corporation who isn't holding up their end of the deal.

  • @retrograderenegades

You don't have to kiss ass to act like an adult. & you DON'T have to yell at the camera to make you seem better than someone. That's a child's tactic. "I'm not doing so good, so I'm going to scream in everybody's face to make them scared." It's just stupid. I agree that TNN was a sucky network so it could have been their fault to begin with. If I want something heard, I would say it with an appropriate tone. Heyman is screaming like TNN screwed his great grandmother.

  • @retrograderenegades

For example, look at Conan O'Brian. NBC screwed him over but he handled it maturely & with comedy. He didn't scream at NBC & whine like a baby because of what happened. He kept it cool & things turned out alright for him. If Heyman would have kept his cool more often, I'm sure he could have taken pro wrestling to a whole nother level. But he didn't that's why he's at home writing books & focusing on UFC.

  • @LatinMafia64 Conan O'Brien is a corporate shill with no artistic merit for doing commercials when he didn't need the money. He is now owned by corporations and will say anything to keep his job, so that isn't a credible comparison. Btw it's a fact that anyone who does commercials is a corporate shill making anything they say suspect because you can put a price on it. That is not debatable.

  • @retrograderenegades Oh so you're saying that 90% of Americas media is filled with "corporate shills"? Are you saying that doing a commercial to better your well being & the company that you work with/for is bad? Heyman is & always will be a bad spokesperson. He thinks that relying solely on fan support that he can bring his company to the top. & Now what happened. Everybody wonders what happened to the old ECW when it was Heymans fault that he shot it straight to the ground.

  • @retrograderenegades You have to do what you need to do to survive in this world. Nothing & I mean NOTHING can stand on its own anymore. ECW may have been able to pull it off in the past but Heyman couldn't adapt to changing times. He tried to by joining the WWE but his ego got the best of him. It's people like him who ruined pro wrestling by forcing it to be a certain way. A bloodfest with drunken idiots bashing each other with chairs. That's a bar fight, not wrestling.

  • Paul Heyman cuts an amazing interview!

  • People may not like Paul Heyman, but he's no moron. He knows how to shoot.

  • We Want Atleast Paul heyman To WWE Now In This Sucking Version...

  • Comment removed

  • You would think he dropped an F-bomb or 2. Nothing. Disappointing.

  • damn can you guys feel it? He's talkin to my SOUL.....

  • Aw, he mad.

  • His infamous promo and I love it!

  • I remember back when this aired on ECW's TNN show, the whole thing was bleeped out. I can see why, but damn that was one annoying bleep sound for a minute and a half.

  • The best promo. Ever.

  • What's crazy is that Paul E was just 34 years at this time. He looks about 10 years older than his chronological age. Anyway, great promo here. Heyman is awesome

  • Imagine what Heyman could've done with a hundred million dollars!

  • @jbisthemaster1 it would be like the wwe but with substance and credibility instead of midgets and stale storylines

  • @Dud512 True

  • @jbisthemaster1 TNA ran a ECW ppv and vince didn't make a dime. so wat good is owning the rights to ecw and wcw and every other promotion that fail when u don't u se it nor do u let other's use it

  • @jbisthemaster1

I would prefer not to. ECW worked best on the budget they had. Imagine what Heyman could've done with a business partner with a sound business mind is a better fantasy.

  • @jbisthemaster1 Keep ECW in Business.

  • @jbisthemaster1 Keep Extreme Championship Wrestling in business.

  • @jbisthemaster1 He could of bought wcw and a lot of percentage of wwf.

  • @jbisthemaster1 he could have flused it down the toilet im a die hard ecw fan for life and love paul e but he was a dumbass when it came to handling money

  • @jbisthemaster1 blew it

  • @jbisthemaster1

Still not be able to pay his workers.

  • @jbisthemaster1

He would've gambled away $100 Million dollars!

  • @jbisthemaster1

    he would waste it...

thats what he did with the money he had and wasted it and got him self into debt then he sold the comperny to Vince

YOU TRUST PAUL WITH BOOKINGS NOT WITH MONEY!

  • @jbisthemaster1 : He could have had an even more epic fail with ECW. They problem with Paul E. was he could not manage money. He did everything else just fine. If someone whom knew how to manage money handled that in ECW then it probably would still be here today.

  • @jbisthemaster1 blow it all?...lol

just joking, but damn if new jack don't get his money, his gunna killa muhfucka.

  • @jbisthemaster1 I don't think he's the kind of guy you want to have in charge of the books.

  • Really fucked up. Back then, I thought ECW was cancelled, and then years later after seeing the Rise and Fall of ECW, I was like: You fucking kidding me? I used to watch TNN too, certain days of course. Not one commercial I remember seeing. I guess I'll have to take partial blame considering I never checked the viewing guide (tv guide ON t.v., basically) because the shows I watched, I knew when they were on.

  • ECW was a pinnacle of wrestling. It really doesn't get much better than that. It had everything: great technical wrestlers, big draws, great story lines, incredible hardcore matches, the personality of Paul Heyman, and the best fans wrestling has ever seen. Oh, and can't forget the man on the mic, Joey Stiles.

But the fact is that Paul is terrible at running a business. ECW never really had a chance with him handing out the paychecks. Even with network promotion.

  • @787Bisurdaddy He should have stayed a booker and looked for a better person to run ECW.

  • @787Bisurdaddy To be fair, when was the last time you ran a top tier wrestling promotion?

  • @787Bisurdaddy its not that we was bad at bussniess it was the fact they didn't have any money they weren't given much in the first place

  • truth is at this time vince was finacially supporting ecw

  • The original ECW wouldn't work today, it'd be considered the trash of wrestling because of all the violence and blood. For proof of this see TNA, I don't want to see a guy bleed every 5 minutes in a sloppy match with no art to it. If I want to see humanity mutilate itself I'll turn on the news. All you kids that are ECW marks need to get over it, it's dead you guys killed it because you didn't have the money to support it otherwise it'd still be around.

  • @retrograderenegades

I absolutely, 100 percent agree with you on that.

  • Oh those were the... good old...'ish day's.

The king is dead, long live the king.

  • I felt his sentiment when he did that "worked shoot" on Smackdown in 2001.

I felt his passion of the business when he openly wept following the December to Dismember fiasco.

And I eventually agree with him in his statements regarding the TNA product, and the PG era WWE.

Wrestling is not the same without Paul Heyman. Period.

  • There are two things I liked from the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD: Heyman's parody of Stone Cold and this shoot.

ECW could reach higher than ever, but according to wrestlers, fans and personalities since that time onto this day, Paul E had his mind wired shut in keeping the original concept and some sort of "mismanagement".

He recieved help from Vince, something Bischoff didn't do.

  • A friend of my dad's went to Scarsdale High School with Paul E. True story.

  • ECW would have been more popular and still be around if Paul Heyman was running ECW. Vince fucked it up by putting Umaga (R.I.P.), Bobby Lashley, and putting Sandman on Raw! Fuck you Vince! Heyman is a fucking genius for making ECW and you have to ruin it? Heyman would kick your ass in competition! It's because of you that ECW is dead, it's your fault ECW sucked through 2007-2010, it's your fault that ECW was not as good as 1995-2001! Heyman is a MASTERMIND! I hope Paul returns soon! ECW ECW ECW

  • @CDburnerz i agree vince fucked up he made ecw turn in to sunday heat

  • @CDburnerz "Heyman would kick your ass in a competition" obviously not because ECW is dead. I was a hardcore ECW fan but you guys are all fucking marks who don't know shit. All the guys in ECW were midcarders at best and Heyman was great at covering up their weaknesses and showing off their strengths. That's why none of them did anything in WWE. Vince brought ECW back to develop talent that wasn't good enough to be on either RAW or Smackdown he never intended it to be like the original ECW

  • People may not like Paul Heyman, but he can shoot like never before.

  • Greatest.Shoot.EVER

  • Fuck WWE

    Fuck TNA

Ring Of Honor is the only "real" game in town now

    ECW RIP 1993-2001

  • @BlakNo1 you mean 1992-2001

  • i remeber when this rant went on air and i love it

  • Heyman should have tried USA Network. Maybe to "stick one to Vince".

  • Give it a couple of months and he'll be doing this to Spike TV, if the rumours are true of course

  • Does Spike share most of TNN's staff? I've been wondering if they've had anything to do with the bad decisions TNA has made.

  • @Innovator8 SpikeTV is TNN,TNN changed their name to Spike in mid 03,and yes they do have some of the same staff.

  • @WWEGameFan Thanks for the info. It seems to support my suspicions that SpikeTV might've pressured TNA to invest in instant, but temporary ratings boosts like Hogan as opposed to developing new draws just as TNN abandoned ECW for the pre-established WWF brand. We all know how both of those decisions went :).

These execs need to start thinking longterm if they wish to get the most out of the pro wrestling business.

  • paul is wrestling ecw 4 life

  • I love this guy

  • I remember this being hyped up all over the internet that week and then when I tune in to TNN, the whole thing was bleeped out. Then they put some sub title like, "Please ignore this man's rant. Maybe he has taken too many chairs to the head?" Was so pissed because I knew they were done.

  • Yeah

    F-Jackie!

  • Paul E is G.O.D

  • Great shoot by Heyman! This is what it was all about for a bit.

  • heyman was a great booker but sucked at running a buissness

  • Yeah...you really showed them Paul.

    LOL!

  • ECW killed ECW. The "hardcore" style demanded bigger and bigger stunts, until the wrestlers could no longer go bigger. Replacing wrestling with stunts is a disaster.

  • ECW was killed becuase they couldnt get another tv deal they sold out there very last show. wcw had to give away tickets to make the apearance of a "sold out crowd" there last 2 years ecw was more then hardcore wrestling TNA should have went after heyman and i guarantee there would be a legitimate monday night war

  • @americanbadass88 TNA could always still bring in Heyman. Hogan/Bischoff isn't working out so well. TNA was gaining some momentum just before Hogan/Bischoff started.

  • @fjccommish

Agreed! After Victory Road 09, they gained some SERIOUS ground. Their KO's division was top notched and the X-division was always cool. Too bad we'll never see the World's X-cup again. :(

  • @fjccommish

So true. Eventually all the big draws for ECW slowly started to fade away because of how much they put themselves through.

  • ECW! ECW! ECW! This is why ECW is great! This is one of my favorite shoots of all time

  • The network does not promote ECW because obviously Paul Heyman does not have a good relationship with his network and did not take steps to improve that relationship.

  • why did paul heyman left the new ecw if he would have stayd the new ecw would have worked

  • Nice shoot

  • I miss Paul E.. Best booker in the business. I miss original ECW so much.

  • TNA should have Jeff Jarrett (who founded TNA for those dumb asses who don't know that) do a shoot like this on Spike TV (formerly TNN) b/c Spike advertises TNA as much as they advertised ECW : NONE!

  • @bestthinggoing459 but they advertise UFC

  • lol god bless Paul, that is a golden moment. He was shooting and cutting a promo at the same time...classic Paul E.

  • as much as i loved ECW, i dont feel bad that this happened cuz iuse to go to every ny show they did as a stand by (10 dollar seat) in order to pack the arena. Once TNN came along he would not allow stand by attendances.

  • if he comes to tna then TNA would be the best...anybody knows if he is returning or wat happen to him?

  • he will not go to tna because eric ""Tosscoff"" is there

  • @BigPython1986 or as Brian Pillman once called him Eric Jerkoff

  • Damn. Heyman is fucking scary when he wants to be. He's not even angry at me and even *I* was rtembling in fear watching this video. O.O

  • Why in all things that are right, did Paul Heyman have to leave ECW? Now it is literally going off air and getting replaced. I don't care what Vince has in mind for this new branch but ECW was a holy relic of Hardcore and Extreme wrestling.

  • Paul Heyman is a freaking genius he has one of the greatest minds in wrestling

  • yep. if vince was smart he would seperate ECW from WWE and let Paul run it and fund him

  • Yeah but no look what went down. ECW OLD SCHOOL FOR EVER!

  • If Vince was smart? Vince is probably very smart, enough to know that would be a bad idea.

  • i have chills, paul heyman is the doctor of promos.

  • Paul Heyman, Without question one of the greatest minds & Promo guys in the history of the business.

  • I remember the day Paul did this shoot. I was pissed cause I knew ECW was seeing its final days

  • if i remember correctly...didn't they censor it saying he took to many chairs to the head or something like that...either way 2001 was not good days for ecw or wcw fans...i guess wwf fans were lucky...lol

  • I think ECW would have worked on SCI-FI, if Paul Heyman ran it.

  • @cacapedo2 yea exactly but vince wanted things done his way

  • @cacapedo2 It wasn't a matter of it not being able to work. That was the whole point. Vince wanted to kill it just like he wanted to kill WCW and he did.

  • Vince secret funding ECW in thoes days he said it him self.

  • @carsomyr420 He gave them a little bit, but not because he thought they'd be bigger than WWE, but because they could help him put WCW outta business, which frankly, around that time, they were on their way to being anyway.

  • This is not a man who needs a closeup.

  • TNN is a bunch of shit, ECW rules!

  • This is so true. At the time i didn't know anything about ECW until I starting flipping through the channels. I remember seeing great performances from the dudleyz, mike awesome, tazz & RVD. I was happy that they became WWF (not E) superstars.

  • I'm fucking sick of all the people coming out of the woodwork these days dismissing ECW as just another indie promotion. It was far from that. An aura surrounded it you would not understand unless you were a fan at the time.

And no matter what Vince would have you believe, ECW DID HAVE A DIRECT AND VERY LARGE influence on the WWE's Attitude Era.

    Simple.

  • @Goregasm101 100% agreed. Nobody started going hardcore until ECW came around, and then WCW followed suit. ECW changed the business.

  • ECW brought wrestling from a "kid level" to an "adult level". And today, WWE is back in the "kid era"... I hope the new Monday Night War will bring back this adult theme :)

  • @Goregasm101

but whare did that attitude nstarted ....

    WCW/NWO

    they changed wrestleing

    not only the NWO

also peole like the luchadores and the japenese

    that when to wcw

  • @Goregasm101 "An aura surrounded it you would not understand unless you were a fan at the time."

I couldn't have said it better. I just watched Paul Heyman Shoots at the Crusaders video and got choked up in the begginning. ECW really was something special. Every Saturday night at midnight or 1 AM on the Spanish channel.

  • I loved Heyman the booker even though he gets all the credit as though he was the only ECW booker...and he wasnt. But Heyman the business man was just terrible. And its more important to a wrestling company to be good in business than in booking. Both is great but business is more important. Both WWE and later TNA held Spike TV/TNN's feet to the fire when it came to the business side of things. Had Heyman been an honest man with talent and done the same thing, ECW would still be around today.

  • Fucking genius!

  • This is 1997 year ?

  • no, more like 99-00

  • 2000

  • Heyman didn't want to come to TNA ... He was asked and he always said he didn"t want to become a part of this misbooking show ...

And, notice that Spike TV ... Used to TNN in the past ...

    Think about that

  • thats cause Heyman knows that anything thats booked by Russo is a piece of crap. He ran WCW into the ground and now he's burying TNH (Total Nonstop Hogan) in a matter of months I promise you

  • I agree with you Get rid of Russo and find a new Head writer. The crap that I see in TNA is Embrassing It reminds me of WCW back in 2000. They have great Talent, Great Matches, Some of the best Crowd Chants since The ORIGINAL ECW. They should kick his ass to the curb and bring back Jim Cornette or Else were stuck with PG style Wrestling in the WWE.

  • @johnnycitystar damn right russo and dixie are in it with each other and unfortunatey she supports pg style wrestling as i have been told

  • one of ecw's greatets promos albeit a short one

  • TNA signed the wrong guys. Fuck Bischoff and Hogan. Heyman would be the guy to put in charge of booking. He is an innovator. TNA has innovative wrestlers but their booking and creative team is weak.

  • Wow, the Jeff Hardy mark likes hogan too. Hogan was great in the 80s. He helped WCW get to the top in the 90s, and he also helped destroy that company. I really hope the best for TNA but Hogan was not the answer. He is going to turn it in to another WCW which it already is accused of being.

  • was the best alright, the best at politics in the backstage area, he help WCW rise, then destroyed it with one poke to Kevin Nash's chest. if Hogan has redeemed himself, then maybe he's make TNA better, but if not, then TNA will slowly die then the corpse be bury in the WWE headquarters next to all the other dead wrestling companies. good luck running the show Hogan, ur gonna need it.

  • he stated his interest few years back but tna wouldn't give him the full power he wanted or sumthing along those lines.

  • Its a shame. He would have been the guy. TNA is just looking for rating spikes. Spikes in the ratings don't last. They need solid guys working behind the scenes. The creative team and the people in the production truck is truly what is holding the company back. The in ring talent is great, but its the only great thing about the company.

  • Eh, bischoff may be able to save it. though Heyman is a better choice. and hell, Hogan is at least better then Russo.

  • @thepapax04 i agree and he has even said he would work for tna but think russo would have needed to go if remember right or there was sumthing that was stopping him.

  • @thepapax04 i would love to see that

  • @thepapax04 Yeah, it would've been a smart move. Hogan's boys are gonna ruin it, I really hope they lose them when ratings flop. I believe TNA could be a player when Heyman books they just need to convince Spike TV to man up and get away with more risky material than Vince's PG stuff. For a network for men they sure censor the language at points which is weird since Lifetime gets away with more.

  • @thepapax04 Truer words have never spoken.

  • Maybe your right...

  • @thepapax04 and Fuck Russo

  • @thepapax04 TNA already asked paul heyman but he said no.

  • @thepapax04 heymans meant to be starting up his own company soon...really cannot wait hes a fuckin genious!

  • @DuncanoBoydo You mean w/ Tod Gordon? I bumped into a few forum posts speculating that Gordon might've been BSing. On February he said he'd have an announcement on July 2011. 17 months seems to be a long time to start a new promotion.

  • @thepapax04 Heyman in charge of booking with Mick Foley and Raven at his disposal would be perfect. Heyman, Raven, and Foley have great minds for wrestling.

  • @CAWGregoryBlack but there egos are massive

  • TNA+PaulHeyman-VinceRusso+original, talented talent-old beat up warhorses looking to cash a fucking paycheck>WWE
