Fux's "Gradus ad Parnassum" is that, today, such textbook could be confusing for music students who think they are studying the "rules of counterpoint", while in practice the "strict" styles of Palestrina, Fux, Bach, Mozart, etc., differ widely in conceptions... and "rules". We are lucky today since we can study a specific style/period and understand that.

Fux's music is very unorthodox, sometimes. He's a very intesting composer, a bit like Carlos Seixas in Harphiscord.
