  • HMO = healthcare denied, delayed or reduced.

  • I think cats should pay for dogs heath care, this would end the problem.

  • Dr Hui should get a refund for his economics degree. His rant is nothing more than an appeal to collectivist statism.

  • @Huboons you mother should get a refund for you!!!

  • And for god sakes pinko, consider getting a lyrengectomy (is that how it's spelled?), Ned's voice from South Park is 100 times more tolerable than the nasal abomination you bring us.

  • @EducationVids666 a monkey is more tolerable than you assholee!!!!

  • Here's some facts about the (possible) 25-50 million people uninsured:

1/3 of them make over 50,000k a year, and make the CHOICE (you know something you wouldn't have in a socialist system) not to buy insurance.

1/3 of them are eligible for medicaid (Which takes up about 50% of GDP spent on health-care in the US)

1/3rd of them came here to the US illegally.

    People educate yourself realize:

100% tyranny comes from the government

    and

    100% choice comes from capitalism.

  • Also that evil competition and profit he keeps talking about is what motivates people to create new things, and make the product cheaper and more efficient. You make a free health care system for everyone, then the private route is going to be more expensive, and more people are going to be forced to go with the free system.

Fact the US is responsible for most of the medical innovations in history. Fuck you Pinko, and your one sided BS.

  • Rating the quality of a healthcare system based on life expectancy is fucking retarded. Doctors can only do so much to heal someone that refuses to take care of themselves, how this there is 600% more prostate cancer related deaths in Britain than the US. Britain has 15% more in breast cancer. God knows how many people die waiting in line for their medoicre "free" coverage for other things.

  • If health insurance companies can make it illegal NOT to have insurance the same way car insurance companies have in many states, that would be even better!

In other words, government's job is to protect us from monopolies not help them stay in business and flourish. The government needs to protect the free market in order to enable the little guy. Should doctors be forced to have malpractice insurance? That makes the cost of healthcare skyrocket, and forces them to work for hospitals.

  • @Embrigh Well, yeah! That's exactly my point! The current monopolization of healthcare is aided and abetted by government legislation. Tax breaks, subsidies, malpractice laws, even welfare programs like medicare, all help the insurance corporations, drug manufacturers, corporate hospitals make money. Insurance companies want to keep the price of healthcare high so that people are forced to obtain insurance.

  • Well, this video was pretty informative until it offered government managed care as an alternative to corporate manged care. The government needs to get out of the way of entrepreneurship, and prevent corporate insurance and hospitals from monopolizing the industry. Make room for the little guy. That is the most efficient way to bring down costs.

  • @deasler81 Make room for the little guy? There IS no little guy in the healthcare industry. The problem with healthcare is the companies, they know that if everyone raises prices and gets doctors to fill non-generic prescriptions they can rake in the dough. People who work in the upper tiers of healthcare make an obscene amount of money and are happy with it. For instance, plastic lenses for cataract surgery may cost around $700 in the US while in India they cost $4.

  • Big Business puts money over people. Doctors working under these businesses are forced to put the patients interests below the interests of their paymasters and bosses.

  • ...and we need a bare bones basic health care for all that includes education, prevention, and empowering each person to stay healthy, rewarding that behavior. Enabling self-destructive behavior needs to stop - if you are morbidly obese, smoke, drink and drive, etc., you pay for yourself. Such disincentives will help bring compliance to a population that expects the taxpayer to rescue them for their bad choices.

  • It is a moral conflict to impose profit-seeking behavior on the doctor-patient relationship. It contaminates true patient advocacy and gives priority to greed. Doctors need to be paid a salary and work for their patients' health because it is the right thing to do. Cost of medicine will drop because unnecessary and inappropriate but profitable interventions will simply stop. Imagine a police force or fire department that was "for-profit"? We have been blinded to this by the forces of big $.

  • Pinky, in response to your final comment, I would be opposed to such a system and would be willing to discuss my motivations for opposing it.

  • Very interesting. Yes, I agree, health care is a product provided by companies to make a profit, just like car companies. If you can afford a corvette, you can buy one, if not, you drive something that cost less or ride the bus. You can also walk.

  • "the huge number of people who can't afford health insurance"

That is VERY misleading, almost lying I might add. Most, and I say most, not all, but most people who are uninsured are either young, healthy workers, or illegal immigrants (who by and large are young and healthy). The number of people who need health insurance, but can't really afford it is more like 10 million.

  • @migkillertwo So your implication is that 10 million is not a serious enough figure? Because if it is your contribution is of no value.

  • I'm not saying it's not a serious problem, it is a very serious problem, but it's a very manageable one. It is absolutely unnecessary to give the government such an enormous amount of power if less than 3% of the population need, but lack medical care. Rather than do things like force insurance companies to cover them, or force everyone to buy health insurance, we could just GIVE them money to buy health insurance. This would drive down the cost of health insurance because...

  • Health insurance companies would have to actually COMPETE for sick people (if we let the sick people keep money they save).

Sadly Barack Obama and his comrades in Congress weren't content to merely solve this problem, they also had to give the government enormous control over our personal lives and bail out the insurance companies.

    That's social democracy for you.

  • @migkillertwo In Britain where health is more fully controlled by the government and doesn't involve any money grubbing private insurers the service has been fantastic giving the lie to the idea that competition is necessary for the delivery of exemplary services. There appears to be a national delusion in the US that government power is necessarily bad and that we would be much better served by the free market.

  • "The service is fantastic"

I dunno what kind of weed you're smoking. There is far less innovation, far fewer medical machines per capita, and a far far lower cancer survival rate (57% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK die from the disease)

"there appears to be a delusion..."

Government IS a bad thing because any government power necessarily entails theft, extortion, and murder at the margins.

  • @migkillertwo "Government IS a bad thing because any government power necessarily entails theft, extortion, and murder at the margins."

You say this as if getting rid of government would eradicate these things. Power and exploitation won't disappear from the world, how do you suppose checks and balances should be kept in place? It is utopian to believe in a free market divorced from governance and incredibly dangerous.

  • "You say this as if getting rid of government would eradicate these things"

It would get rid of instances of such acts committed by the Government. Do you know how many people the United States Federal Government has killed since its creation? 30 million people, and that's a conservative estimate.

"It is utopian to believe in a free market divoced from governance and incredibly dangerous"

Stateless societies have existed. Statism is utopian. The idea that...

  • ...we can solve so many problems just by giving all the guns to one group of power-hungry people is ridiculous. It always leads to more and more power given to the government, and less and less freedom.

  • @migkillertwo I am by no means saying that I am an advocate of the nation state but I do believe in governance - what do you suggest in place of a world of all against all?

  • How about common law? It worked very well in Iceland, Ireland, and the Old west.

  • @migkillertwo I'm not sure I follow - are you really suggesting things were better in the Old West? Iceland has perhaps the most unionised workforce of any european country which I approve of but how does it represent a radically different form of societal organisation? How are you suggesting common law be upheld and by whom? I feel as though I have made my position relatively clear but you are still being rather vague.

  • @migkillertwo Perhaps if governments actually governed we could hold them to account so that election day actually meant something. Obama's health plan certainly isn't an example of true social democracy.

  • Kill the Bill!

  • huh? at Paul down there.

NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY from HEALTH CARE AT ALL!!!

MOST OF LA COUNTY HOSPITALS TREAT A HUGE PERCENTAGE OF ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!!!

Health Care comes from watching WHAT YOU EAT, HOW YOU THINK, HOW YOU EXERCISE etc etc.....

  • @CTYForg Why do 'illegal aliens' deserve healthcare less than yourself?

  • How any American can DENY another American decent Health Care and access to a doctor because they are poor?? This is INHUMAN!!!

You Evil freeking people.....who raised you all?

How can you evil devils live with yourselves that say "^$%@ the poor....they don't deserve Health Care....let em get a JOB!"

No wonder this country is so messed up...

  • Nobody wants the skunked HC mandate Trojan Horse proposed by reid..

  • Why Dingy Harry is your enemy:

Senate Health Care Bill is outstanding:

A veritable grab bag of treats like:

$500,000,000,000 BILLION in Medicare Cuts to Kill, Old people Control, Gun Control, Abortion Control, Punitive Exorbident Multiple Taxes, Punitive Fees, Punitive Denials of Access to Millions of Poor, Punitive Restrictions to Access Health Care, Long Lethal Delays in Treatment, Wasteful Expensive Burocracy, Skyrocketing Costs, & Record Breaking Intrusion..

    ..not too healthy...

  • Kill the BIll..

    Nobody wants it..

  • The only industrialised nation without universal healthcare is the US. That GM spends more for HC than steel and Starbucks more fo HC than coffee tells you how messed up the current system is. It is undeniable that insurance companies are abusing the system. While their profits have a constant increase, the affordability to the common Joe has plummeted to a point where as I write more and more Americans move to mexico to afford healthcare or we can hasten our death in the US.

  • Pinky, you know that theft is wrong; and taxation is theft. There are many reasons why health care is expensive in the U.S. Watch some of Stefan Molyneux's videos on the subject to gain a broader perspective. His username is Stefbot.

  • No, some taxation is trade with the state (like buying membership), for the purpose of upholding the infrastructures of the military, police, and judicial system. One can live in a remote desert, devoid of law and government, and would not have to pay tax. However, there would be no law and no protection from miltants. However, Yes, any money 'taxed' from some to be given free to others IS theft. It is just theft perpetrated by a middle party.

  • If I come to your house and paint it pink, without your consent; and demand payment for services rendered without consent, that is not theft?

  • Such an act is not necessary for the maintenance of the state, in terms of law, military force, and courts. You can think of the government/state as a service. A service which actually allows trade in absence of theft, protects its members from theft by external raiders, and ensures law is enforced. The only feasible way you can remove consent to be charged for this sevice is to physically remove yourself from the state by emmigration.

  • Such an act is the lifeblood of the state and the social contract is a rank fallacy.

  • I doubt lunacy like officials painting peoples houses pink constitutes 'lifeblood' of anything. The social contract is not at all a fallacy. The notion that anarchy contitutes a superior social system certainly is. Regardless, states are the 'stable state' if you will. A territory with no government (the 'anarchist' land) hasn't a chance in hell of avoiding absorption by a neighbouring state because of ovbious differences in their capacity to apply force. Govt is not the problem, bad govt is.

  • In a broad sense, I would agree with your position, but I ask you-

Have you ever known a Good government?

I genuinely think its time we analyzed the governmental and societal basis and understand why we fail. I think we're ready and capable of trying something new.

  • The howard government of Australia could be considered to have been quite good. There have not been any others in the Anglosphere in recent times that I would have considered good. Regarding 'ready', this implies we have been purposefully building up to a point where we would finally elect a good government. I do not believe this is the case. Rather, I think the West is increasingly incapable of electing good governments, because the electors have no idea what good is.

  • Very informative...This is certainly a start to my attempt at understanding the health care world. I believe this is the start of an interesting education in politics in general for me. Thank you for the inspiration.

  • I would deffinately recommend you read around a little too. Although they make some good points on these documentarys (im watching quite a few of them) some of their 'solutions' and points tend to be over simplified or unrealistic.

    Very provocative talking points though.

  • i agree this was informative and that understanding is so IMPORTANT! i have a pretty good video about obamacare you might like... i explain all about the legislation.. if you get a chance to check it out i hope you will enjoy it!

  • FREE WATER, FREE FOOD, FREE LAND, FREE HEALTH, FREE EDUCATION... are our real BIRTHRIGHTS! All 7 billion people of the world have the same rights - just claim it! and work only for free ! No money, no power to the top of the hieararchic pyramide!

  • Best thing Anyone who does not understand Health Care and the issues of Health Care Reform by the Liberal Democrats who are in the favor and Interest of what is burdening American Tax payers and will fail and is not practical in the favor of the private sector or feasible .

can be seen with a factual basis at

    Fact Check. org

go get your right winged fear propaganda debunked .

for those who are intelligent enough to find the truth at their disposal.

  • jumardumar1281; President Obama , Did not buckle on nothing, he is only trying to get a partisan bill on Health Care, although the Rethgulikkkans have buckled on finding middle ground on being a patriot to support their President &country in time of a republican recession.

President Obama , cares for the people & will get a Health Care bill Passed, if the retardicants couldnt or wouldnt &wont for the private sector's interest or behalf

Spreading fear propaganda like a true town hall terroist

  • Are people just ignorant to not see The President is closing the doors on the insurance companies and the drug making pharmacies ripping off Americans as if Health Care is fine and dandy until someone wants to end corporate interest over the private sector?

    Fact Check. org

should help those who lack understanding or need help to find the truth available.

Other than the right winged town hall terrorist using Fear Propaganda in the interest of the Corporate Control freaks n Crooks.

  • and how ignorant are you to believe that Obama is going to do something to reform healthcare in this country? He has already buckled on the public option, and given in to the healthcare lobbyists and corporate insurance companies. there will be no real change, insurance companies profits will skyrocket and hardworking americans will suffer. i want healthcare reform just as much as you do, but we will not get it from Obama

  • finally someone said it health care isn't a right

hmmm so what i get from this is that nothing is wrong with our system cept the costs? so y not repeal those lawsuit laws and watch and see as the premimums go down

  • Lar4567, When I hear Fear Propagandist running around , complaining and arguing and spreading fear acting as concerned, in the face of their past 8 years policies , they never raised an eyebrow about.

I Have to wonder, if we already were in the poor house under a rethuglikkkan recesssion , that the Gop Flip Flop party , spent over 13 TRILLION , not to mention farm america out.

and create unconstitutional laws to prevent the people to stop them.

    all in the corporate interest.

  • take a look at my video on my channel of Health Care....

people are banking on republican fear propaganda to find common ground so they can scream and throw tantrums like an anarchist than a rational intelligent human being who is not anti social and a local terrorist or some thug .

All the right winged nut jobs do is send out emails to go to town hall meetings to start fights with loaded questions from the right premade.

Then they have no solutions other than to send people to fight as zombies

  • With the deficit near 9 trillion, where are we getting the money to fund health care for all? I don't trust polticians fact being they say whatever they need to get elected. Trust the govt with this, the US will be in the poor house, wake up.

  • I bet you supported the war and bush too huh? At the beginning of the Bush administration the national debt was $5.7 trillion at the end it was $10 trillion, almost double. Were you bitchin about that when we werent even getting anything in return or did you not say anything? This plan should be a little over $1 trillion over 9 years. At least were getting something for it.

  • Fear Propaganda is all the republican hopefuls have left to defy their loss of their credibility and if one goes to Check Fact . org

they can discover the truth to the fear propaganda, than act out like an anarchist playing the role of a tea bagging baloney spewing radical, than find a rational reasonable solution like a normal person who would want to reach out to the rest of America and help come together during a crises and republican recession

  • Republican radicals are hoping on taking back control of America, so they can keep their corporate kickbacks and promises to keeping the deregulation of Insurance companies, banks, and drug makers to mention a few that fund their campaign as they lobby just to go through the motions.

46 million need health care and they are using fear propaganda to find middle ground or common ground with the people than find a solution to pass health care for the rest of America who pays taxes and works .

  • Regulation, government intervention, patent policies and price fixing ARE the reason healthcare costs are so high. The state works in conjunction with corporations since the both benefit in many ways, mostly economically. To state that the benevolent Democrats are going to fix healthcare through regulation is as silly as thinking the Republicans are going to end war. Both parties support big government the only thing that separates them is the special corporate interests they serve.

  • it Has nothing to do with GOVT intervention....

and has EVERYTHING to do with GOVT deregulation from the right winged GLO FLIP FLOP PARTY , in the interest of ripping off tax payers and america for the interest and benefit of the corporate banks, insurance companies, and the drug makers to profit and fund their campaign... ur not fooling anyone with that fear propaganda to derail Change in the Interest or benefit of the working class and elderly while manipulating like hitler did to gain support

  • From an economics mindest the goal is profits or more for less. With this in mind:

Insurers want to maximize profits. Therefore, they will find ways to deny coverage and reimburse physicians as low as possible. Ideally insurers want to collect premiums and not pay for health care services. Hence, HMOs are beneficial to insurers.

  • Doctors are businesses too and thus too want to make profit. Therefore, they will send expensive bills to insurers in order to get reimbursed more. They'll charge fees for every little service from taking your blood pressure to looking at you for 30 seconds. This is why fee-for-service failed.

  • Patients are the consumer, and thus want more for less. Patients want to be restored to normal health, but want to pay as little as possible. Ideally patients want the best health care service, but want to pay nothing.

  • The problem is these three major parties have goals that are against each other. Insurers want premiums from the patients, but do not want bills from the doctor. Doctors want payments from the insurers and want to minimize their expenses on patients. And patients want services from the doctor, but do not want to pay insurers. Any health care solution must find a way to balance the goals and interest of these three parties.

  • @HaxorsFury Compromise, Compromise, Compromise.

  • @HaxorsFury democrats was busy fucking up

  • @HaxorsFury The best solution is usually reached when all parties involved leave pissed off.

  • @HaxorsFury

I'll give you 3 guesses as to who in the united states is most satisfied with the status quo, and the first 2 don't count.

I also believe a note-worthy number of doctors want to give effective care.

  • Bottom line is a society has to find a way to extend a reasonable level of health care to all of it's citizens, be they rich or poor.

A true yard stick to measure any country is how they treat their sickest and poorest.

  • We need a system based on free market principles to avoid an expensive bureaucratic system. People should be allowed to set aside a tax free healthcare portfolio to pay for their care. For those who could not afford it the government can subsidize them and the cost will still be much lower than socialized medicine. Privatization leads to a decrease in demand for healthcare. People wont spend their money unless they have to. It increases the national savings rate and encourages capitalization

  • This is a good idea and this still allows people to choose. The government would still assist when needed. A fully runned government healthcare would be a disaster!

  • No what we have now is a disaster!

  • Not really. The VA (for Veterans) and the British model both work exteremly well, and are completely socielized medicine, with the doctors as government employees. Sure, there are some problems, but they are still considerablly better than most health care models. The British system is 18th best in the world, Canada as 30th, and the US of A as the 37th. Is socielized medicine the BEST form? That's arguable, but it's far from a disaster.

  • Rate by the World Heath Org.

    A bunch of UN flunkies!!!!!!!

  • the funny thing is, nobody talks about socialized medicine. There is an idea of public OPTION. You still can choose what`s best for you ;) You dont like bureaucretic? go privat!

  • There is no such thing as Free market principles it is a falacy and a myth! Due to subsidies and tariffs imposed on any ompetion!

This is a myth perpetrated on the public by the media which is owned by Corporations!

Your are very naive and do not know what you are talking about if you believe this.

Corporations spend millions of dollars a day lobbying politicians to vote in their interest not the individuals who are the tax payers!

  • I broke an arm in Canada, The hospital visit, cast and drugs was around 5 US dollars. It was treated fast with quality care. When I returned to the US I rebroke it in an accident and at the hospital for the recast, x-ray and back in for removal, the cost was $4290. I have no insurance, still owe 2000 and it kinda hurt my credit. We all need to back The Presidents Health Care reform bills.

  • Get healthcare :)

  • I'm truly sorry to hear about your $4200 hospital bill. It's just amazing how much shit people have to put up with when it comes to the "private price gauging for profit" health care industry. It's absolutely criminal what they've gotten away with over the last decade or so w/ them ripping off the public.

  • Watch Youtube Video: The Health Care Bill: What they DON'T want you to know!

  • We need single-payer, like yesterday!!!

  • sure..they did such a great job with our social security money...lets give them even more control over our lives. government shouldnt have the control they have now! i dont care if every other country has it and its ok. the gov already gave tax breaks to employers that offered coverage. if more people bought their own policies they'd have more choice and prices would drop. ohio has less regulations and its much more affordable there...hmmm

  • This would have been the first Pinky Show episode where she is fully animated.

  • Wow US system seems crappy. Glad I'm a Canuck.

  • Will there ever be a part two, Pinky?

  • Health care system sucks in the USA. That's right folks, not everything in the 'ole USA is the Best !!! I like the French model.

  • Agreed. I want to live in France, and if I had the money and a job there. I would learn french and pack at the same time. I would be willing to say good bye to America for the healthcare and human care that they have in France, Their government fears the people, not like here where we fear the government.

  • If GM spends more on health care than steel, and Starbucks spends more on health care than coffee, the answer must be to TAX GM and STARBUCKS MORE and take over health care. Oh yeah! Than sounds like a plan! Sheesh!

  • I.. don't follow..

You mean make wealthy people pay a healthy percent of their income? Yes, please! :)

  • indeed, the problem is in the structure of for-profit, health-as-a-commodity-model : 31% or 40,000,000,000,000.00 of Health Care Dollars went to adminstrative bureaucracy or profits .

    yikes!

  • By in large, right wingers keep bitching about the "evils of communism and socialism". And yet, they don't bitch about the evils of capitalism & the so called "free market". Even though communism and socialism has absolutely nothing to do with the healthcare crisis in the U.S. And why private HMO's continue to price gauge, rip off, and deny care to people who simply can't afford healthcare.

  • Jeez, HarveyRex23, you made some excellent points. It's all a "straw man" fallacy that is built up again, and again.

U.S. Healthcare has nothing to do with another nation's "communism/socialism"! Unless you buy into the fear-mongering of course. Somehow an economic debate easily morphs into pseudo-political and idealist dogma. Ugggh.

It was very refreshing reading your comment.

  • Its not that expensive...

  • @HarveyRex23

they don't even realize that the US currently has rationed medicine. the situation is quite bad. If you can fix this issue. I bet you can solve the unemployment issues.

  • I believe if Doctors were rewarded according to the percentage of Health Improvement or Prevention of "Treatable Conditions" of their Patients, More people would become Doctors.. to

Also, there needs to be a cap on the price of prescription drugs in this country, as well as the banishment of Lobbyists. As long as Congress is allowed to accept money from Lobbyists for their votes. Nothing will change.

  • u see politicians promising universal healthcare, winning votes with it. u hear them talk of supporting our troops and supporting 9/11 rescue workers. but why is it that 9/11 workers and war vets have been fighting for YEARS for support by the government on medical costs with no real support from the government? 9/11 workers are seen as heros by more then just americans, but if they cant get support in medical care how can the average american expect it?

  • @lejink

by moving to another country. Even Turkey has better medical care for cheaper. lluckily Americans are so nationalistic that they'll refuse to move and the smart Americans will leave this country before it goes third world.

  • Translation from russian: means - dick.

  • I love the name - doctor Hyi.

  • Great video. If you like this video, you should also check out SHOUTAmerica's video.

  • How can this country claim to be so democractic and liberal, yet at the same time, be so corrupt?

The people deserve alot better. No economic stimulis is gong to boost this economy if the healthcare system remains the way it is.

Middleclass citizens are becoming nothing more then legalized slaves to corporations and the healthcare industries.

How can we pay our mortgages when all of our hard earned dollars go into the pockets of corporate thugs?

  • Agree with you

  • I like Pinky!

    :)

Watch her eye at 10:23- LOL!

  • Listen to the immigration video. This is same guy. He aint no doctor. LOL

  • Pinky is such a cute animal!! I want a plushie of pinky!!

  • Health care in the U.S. is a joke and everyone knows it. Your better off not bothering to go to a "doctor" here in USA.

  • American doctors are the best in the world, if you can get them. Which most people do, btw.

  • In Addition, Pinky, thanks for producing a great way for students to learn about MCOs.

  • The USA is not the only industrialized nation without Nationalized (Universal) Healthcare. South Africa has about 1/2 of their population in a program similar to the US MediCAID program. The rest of their population purchases Medical/Health Insurance from companies that have ties with our Commercial Insurance companies.

Any search on the Net will confirm.

  • The doctor union keeps salaries high by making it difficult to become a doctor. Thank you A.M.A.! I appreciate the fact I get a 4.0 gpa doctor who went to college for 15 years all to diagnose a silly ear infection or set a bone. It's overkill. Double the number of doctors and all associated medical services and diagnostics and watch the unit price of health care fall in half while creating jobs. Why wont this happen? Doctors lobby. This keeps the government out of any anti-trust investigations.

  • Sure, why not lower the standards it takes to earn an M.D.? My brain surgeon doesn't need to study that long, he's just poking at my brain.

You might be suprised to learn, that doctor salaries have actually been decreasing these years.

  • For all the people who are bringing up "who would pay for socialized medicine?" following it up by saying that the rich would have to pay for most of it and that would be unfair...

Yes the top 5% of our wealthiest pay for like half the taxes, but considering they have over half of the wealth in America, what would you expect? Do you really expect the people who have the least control over and least benefit from our economy to support our society?

  • The wealthy are a product of the society that they live in and therefore should contribute to that society. Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Paris Hilton would not be rich if they did not have access to healthy, educated, willing workers, dependable infrastructure (roads, energy, etc), free consumers, a justice system to keep them safe and allow them to keep their wealth etc. If you plopped any of these people in Somalia, they would not become rich, no matter how talented or hard working they are.

  • true, goodhuemett

  • which, btw, they paid for in the form of paychecks or taxes themselves.

  • America's current system is the worst of both worlds: capitalism makes it so the health care industry is driven by profit not quality, insurance is a form of socialization with more middle men that takes away competition from providers.

  • Employees, not employers, should deduct health insurances cost.

Health care cost would be less wild if individuals held the purse strings on health care expenses.

Individuals would still band together to get a good deal and fairness from insurers.

Our current financial mess tracks back to Congress enabling FREDDIE MAC and FANNY MAE. 2.5 trillion of easy to write (no down payment, no income proof) mortgages since 2001.

Don't expect government arranged health care to be done right.

  • Yeah its the same with food.. If government management is so good, why dont it control the agriculture industry and things like that?

  • Maybe if food was very expensive, government would. Since since the food industry is not exactly the same as the health-care one, you're going to have different costs, and a whole new set of problems.

Whereas food can be easily controlled by the free-market.

  • I believe that its because of government invovlement in the market, that prices are so high. Everything from monopolys created from patents, to subsidies and the "easy" money which is forcefully taken from taxpayers and given to 3rd part. Theres a lack of competition.

Oh, i also think that peoples neglecance toward their own health, will make some afraid of the costs poor health will give them in the future, and hence join the Universal Healthcare bandwagon.

Everything is just wrong about it.

  • My o my o my....the dems brought upon this financial crisis along with the head of Obama's campain who was the CEO of Fanny Mae. In order for him to increase his bonuses he had to take more risky loans that was pushed by the dems so they could win votes from dead beats. In 2006 the republicans/McCain tried to stop this but was shut down by the democrat congress.

  • johninva

It's a lot more complicated than republicans/democrats. The US is owned by corporations...and bases everything on what benefits those corporations. The corruption goes across any political line.

  • people dont need to be living to the age of frigin 100. id say average life of 69 years is pretty good which apparently is 35th.

  • in other words you pay to much money for almost no health insurance cause the health company's lobby washington with it to make sure it stays that way. its called monopoly. health terrorisme haha l0ol al quadbluecross haha i crack myself up somethimes really go to school >_>

  • ...really its fucking easy why the health care in the us doesnt work .. company terrorisme / corporate corruption. basicly the same thing here in europe you pay insurance and gett almost unlimited treathment if your poor then you also gett treathment that is provided by the state. due to the health company's in the us give 5% of the normal health insurance in compaired to te amount of dollars wich is alot you can lead of that the companys and parts of the us goverment are criminal. the end.

  • how about getting rid of the middleman, where hospitals could have their own health care programs?

  • Health care was provided to everyone at one time before HNO's took over. The increasing costs of file keeping, code management and paperwork required by these new HMO's costs the doctors and hospitals a fortune in just these things alone. When I was a kid, most people who worked had Blue Cross blue Shield, and the doctors didn't have to do anything except turn in a bill and get the money the were owed. I didn't have to have a job to buy insurance. I paid $150 a month for full Blue Cross coverage

  • The healthcare "crisis" occured because government has already regulated health care. Its stupid, there needs to be no more government interference.

  • My name is Pinky, Stinky the loveable retarded cat. My name is Pinky Stinky and I don't know where I'm at. If you know whats good for you, you'll stay away from me... I'm a dumb ass liberal cat and you'll just become like me.

Music sold at your local stores. (except in lala land where you liberals live.)

  • Pinky may have a liberal stance in many of her videos, but how is discussing the state of our health care system make someone a "dumb ass liberal"? Do you think health care is important to liberals only? That's insulting liberals, independents, and conservatives.

  • People are their own worst enemy. They run to the doctor for anything to include getting a doctors note to get out of work. You bastards are destroying health care in America.

  • tHE ENTITTLED (WW2 GENERATION) IS THE LAST OF THE PEOPLE WHO GET CARE/ THE AVERAGE COST TO TREAT THEM IS 200,000 PER YEAR. THIS IS WHAT IS MAKING THE SYSTEM UNEQUITABLE. HEART BI PASS'S AND OTHER "SUPER TREATMENTS" KEEP THE SYSTEM BROKE AND PRICES CLIMBING. HOW ABOUT SIMPLE HEALTH CARE FOR THE POOR? JUST TO HELP PREVENT OR ARREST THE CONDITION?

  • but the worst conceivable system imagineable is one in which healthcare is monopolized by a single service provider. any economist can tell you why market monopolies are bad. monopolies, by their outlawing of competition in any given industry, are NOT subject to fair market price. they charge high prices and provide poor quality services. there is no incentive to innovate, make production more efficient, or lower prices, because there is no competition.

  • the potential for failure and excessive costs in a fee for service system exists when the government begins licensing service providers, and thus restricting competitive entry into the industry. this is protectionist legislation which restricts the amount of service providers available and allows the existing providers to charge high rates for their services.

  • when doctors compete for patients, the consumer wins. in order to win more patients and ensure that customers keep returning, doctors will provide quality services and, in doing so, guard their personal reputations. as long as human beings are greedy, free market healthcare WILL work. if we had a free market system, there would be no healthcare crisis, just as there wasn't a healthcare crisis prior to government involvement.

  • You are right. The normal laws of supply and demand don't work in healthcare, and I do not want the U.S. government to regulate healthcare, thus screwing it up.

  • the fee for service system did work exceptionally well and pinkyshow didn't really do a very good job of discrediting it. OF COURSE there is incentive to provide a quality service in the fee for service system! the market creates competitive solutions to human problems.

  • i like the video

can we see the sites of information data used

  • There is a really good video here on youtube on SB840, a single payer system for health care.

It was posted by DrDon5. It is tilted "The Healthcare Solution: California OneCare"

  • Please, check into SB840, California Universal Health Care Act. If you live in California, contact your political reps, and ask them to support this bill.

  • is because a family friend put up a $750,000 line of credit with Univeristy Of Minnestota to guarantee the procedure was covered. They sued AIG and got the money. The health care companies care about one thing-their money. They will let you die at the drop of a hat if it saves them a bunch of cash. Our healthcare issues in this country need to be solved. People are dying for financial purposes. Ive seen this reality first hand. My sis would have been a casuality if not for a friend!! It's sad

  • I never realized how shitty health insurance companies could be until my sis developed Leukemia cause from high dose chemo from her origional breast cancer. She needed a blood cord transplant to live. Her husband had experimental insurance coverage(it is not considered exp.) AIG denied the claim on purpose because they knew she would go terminal if they fought her claim. She had limited time to get it done. They knew this and basically tried to kill her. The only reason she is alive today

  • I don't see why people are so against Socialized health care. Why is everyone pooling their money so everyone can get the care they need such a terrible concept? If you're scared that the country's going to turn into some kind of commie wonderland where everyone's out to get you, then you need to pull your head out of the sand and look at a calendar. It's 2008, the cold war ended 15 years ago. Everyone needs to get over it and realize what's best for everyone.

  • 85% of people in this country have health care insurance. The other 15% do not, but this does not mean they go without health care. State run facilities provide overall quality care. Limited tax dollars would mean less research. Canada, thanks to limited dollars does not receive state of the art equipment as quickly. Canada did not get MRIs until 1999, when the US had em in 1984. Canadians actually cross over into the US to go to private facilities for use of our equipment. So there.

  • If America has such wonderful, state-of-the-art equipment and wonderful care, then why do so many people drive up to Canada when they need health care? And why aren't all these Canadians coming to America staying afterwards?

  • why arent the people drivng up to canada staying there? For what cases do people drive up to Canada for? minor illnesses, or operations? Also, can you tell me the correct blend of socialism and the Constitution? With government run health care, will are lines for operations become shorter or quicker?

  • Good point jsgoodfella, and in fact, medical tourist are feeding thousands of dollars into countries where the uninsured can get treatment that they could not afford in America. Or when treatment is denied by the insurance company.

  • MRI only helps people who have health insurance, after their insurance company okay's the MRI. I used a state health system a few years ago. I waited 3 months to see a doctor for heart problems, I then waited another 3 months to see another doctor, then I waited 6 months to have a test done on my heart. So, it took a whole year to get a test done to determine if I had congestive heart failure. For all the years I paid taxes, for all the years I paid thousands into a health plan......

  • Where's part 2?

  • I knew it! the Pinky cats are Asian.

    Great show.

  • God loves me!!! Thank GOD i live in a socialized country.

  • I never knew what I was missing until I started working for a University and getting good health coverage. I got things looked at and addressed, that I had put off back when I was going to have to pay huge sums to go by myself. We need national health care for all the people like I used to be, getting more and more unhealthy because they can't afford to see a doctor (or address any issues discovered even if they do see a doctor.)

My health benefits are worth more to me than my wages.

  • Rich people suck.

  • that's how any collectivism starts:

either it's fashism, communism, nasism or socialism.

  • A poor man never gave me a job sukcee. Do you hate the rich because you're jealous? The rich hire people. They own companies and pay most of the taxes.
