Hey DemonDrills, I'm a basketball player and I'm really trying to increase my core strength, which has weakened thanks to a lower back injury, which in turn weakened the muscles which led to more injuries etc. A vicious circle!
I was hoping you could point me to a few simple exercises to aid me, at the moment I can't even get into an L sit or do a back lever. I don't wanna wear a back strap for the rest of my playin days, or do 100 sit ups a day forever... Any help would be appreciated.
Since you guys are local where are good areas to practice perhaps around denver arvada broomfield or anywhere else nearby.. im just a beginner but wanna find some insipiration
You make them look so easy. When I started them I was rocking all over the place to get my knees up. Now I'm doing them strictly finally. You have awesome form!
Awesome idea, though Id like to offer a variation that you can do with this exercise. Bringing your right knee up to your left elbow, and vice versa. Good for working on more of the core muscles :)
tree branches, playground bars, scaffolding are all good. if you still cant find something, id say go buy a pull up bar to install in your door at home. you can buy them from big sporting goods stores for about $20.
is a pull up bar (such as the Iron Gym Pull Up Bar) safe? I'm scared that attaching it to my door frame will rip out the frame, causing me to fall onto my head or neck.
I have the Iron Gym and it is spectacular. and extremely safe. The entire force of your body is not directed downwards on the door frame (the trim on which it hangs). Rather, through leverage, the force is distributed. Most of it pushes INTO the door instead of down....
just trust me, the Iron Gym Pull up bar is safe... and only 30 bucks. and the grips are superb. Check out vids online. worth it
i've see kip ups make them get loose, but other than that they're great, especially for travel, i prefer the stationary 18 bucks walmart one, or maybe it was from dicks. but either way
I have one, and it pulled the door frame out of place. We move it to a basement storage room, and made a little V shape out of nails in blocks of wood in the wall to hold it up.
what song!? its sik.

as long as you dont kip or swing, it should be fine. that's one reason those iron gyms are kind of limited though.
