well said although i doubt if those Vardarskians can understand anything, it's not only that they have no idea about history, it's that they try to steal history from others in order to advance territorial aspirations as well. They are pathetic puppets with no respect for history and for others, but how can they respect others when they don't respect their real identity and try to become something else!
Great tribute you show great passion for them! But I think their bad sides should be mentioned aswell; having a society based on slavery and being defeated by the Thebans.
Well as a Spartan myself i have to pay my own homage. Sure they lost in Leuktra but how many times had they won before that? Many, besides do not forget that Thebans won after Spartans had a series of many wars that weakened them. Just the Peloponesian war lasted 27 years. If both Theba and Sparta had met in the battlefield during their prime, Sparta would have won for sure. Of course i cannot neglet saying that Theba at Leuktra had 2 great generals!
Besides do not try to judge the past by today's standards. All ancient societies were based on slavery, at least the the slaves in Sparta had better status than anywhere else and i will tell you why. In Sparta, the slaves were prpoperty of the state not of the individual and only the state could decide about their fate. The slaves worked in the fields and were entitled by law to 50% of the crops. Where else did the slaves had the rights of a proprietor on the crops?
@SPARTANsenator7 Well from what I have read Athen slaves had a better position because they could actually be freed. Spartan slaves were slaves forever. Also it was an entire populace being opressed; not just some captives/bought people. Plus they were regarded as animas sometimes with the initiation ritual being to kill a helot randomly.
In Athens, the slaves were in a much worse position and whoever had slaves had a power of life or death upon them. Oppression and slavery go together. In Sparta a Helot could be free if he fought bravely for Sparta in the battlefield.
@SPARTANsenator7 In Athens an owner could free the slave and many did this, so they could work for them to get their profits back. In Sparta they were bound to the soil/state. The native people of Sparta was conquered and oppressed by the Dorians. And the initiation ritual of becoming a Spartiate was to kill a helot without being seen.
Most Athenians did not free slaves and most of them treated them badly as they did with women unilke Spartans. Yes, the kryptia was a ritual indeed. As for the Achaians who were oppressed by the Dorians, as i said that happened everywhere. Didn't Athens oppress the other members of the Delian league? Do not forget that many famous Atheneans like Xenophon praised the Spartan system. In conclusion, the past cannot be judged by today's standards.
@SPARTANsenator7 Ahenians did free slaves and them has them as laborers to pay back their prize. This was very lucrative. Spartans however never freed slaves and their entire society was based upon slavery (80% of the populace Helot if not more?).
Athenians treated fellow members of the Attic-Delic alliance as second-ranked, but they were still allies. Spartiates treated Helots like inferior animals.
The tribute was great but was only about glory, while the Spartans had their dark sides aswel
There are cases of Helots being freed. Athenians did not treat their allies as second ranked but also threatened them with Obliteration. Take a look at what they did to the island of Melos when they refused to join them against Spartans. They killed all males, deported all women and children and repopulated the island with people of their own!
@SPARTANsenator7 That's pretty much what the Spartans did; but instead of killing them in freedom they enlaved them in chains for the rest of their lives. And their children, and their children, and so on. What you think is worse is offcource o yoursel.
The Spartans did the same in the Peloponesic alliance. Because they couldn't defeat all these city-estates (because they couln't handle anore Helots, they did havethe military means) they forced them to join them instead.
Who told you that Athenians did not make them slaves? And what did i tell u to begin with? That slavery was common in the ancient world even by the societies that were democratic!
@SPARTANsenator7 That's true. But the Spartans were the only ones to force an entire people into slavery and to be completely dependant on them. You didn't mention that in the tribute; fine; but I thought it would be nice so it would look less biased but it doesn't matter it's your tribute ;-)
The Spartans were the only ones? Mnay others did the same in history. First of all that happened after the era of Lykourgos, before that time, Sparta had also a cultural and creational era and their works (pottery, e.t.c.) were all over the Greek colonies in the Mediteranean, after Lykourgos' laws became a military society. Secondly if Athens did not have armies of slaves to do the work in the fields they could not pay the bill for every citizen to take part in giverning the city
@SPARTANsenator7 From the moment Sparta came into history as we know it with it's Peloponesic war it had a Helot-driven society.
In Athens all of the civilians (demos) were farmers aswell. They weren't relying on slaves but it was a token of wealth and economical boost. But when the Spartans denied them their slaves in the war; it damaged their economy; but didn't ruin it. When the Helots were partially freed by the Thebans Sparta never rose in power again. So there is difference.
Hold on buddy, maybe u know Sparta from 500 B.C. and on but many of us know it from much before. Sparta declined because of the change of its society structure and not the Thebans freeing teh Helots. The decline of Sparta started before that when they stopped oebying some of Lykourgos' laws that led them to greed for money and material possesions. In Athens when Athenians started gathering in agora as a full time occupation, they left the economy mostly on slaves & non Athenians.
@SPARTANsenator7 THat's a matter of opinion. But you know that after the lost war with the Thebans, Sparta never rose again, an the Helots were partially freed in this war which devastated Sparta, while Athens rose again after the Peloponesic war (in which they were also denied their slave shippings).
It's not a matter of opinion buddy. Those who have delved into Spartan history know that the source of their power was the structure of their society, when that started to change, Sparta began to decline. As for Athens, the rise as you say, was nothing compared to its golden age!
@SPARTANsenator7 Sure, I'll giveyou the last word on that else this will last for days haha.
Point is still; this vid only shows the 'glorious' sides ofSparta, which is one-sided, because their reliance on slaves (greater then Athens as you agree ith me) and other aspects aren't that glorious. But it's your tribute you can portray them as positively as you want, it was just my 2 cents that I only saw their positive points.
@ElmerAwesome pls read again the social structure of Sparta and Athens and their politcal systems.You sound like a dutch expert in olive oil.....no offence mate....
trying to look like Greeks because only He called heroes and warriors do not forget the Spartans were a war machine that has passed on Earth when and admit all the countries of the world, although this does not suit some people and not admit it because they were Greeks
@SPARTANsenator7 Cause only we contrary to barbarians never count the enemy in Battle....(Αισχύλος Father of Tragedy)Makednon Μακεδνων is a Hellenic name and Territory...stay true to ur beliefs Hellenes...don't let the userpers of History misguide u......Hellas above all.....
My father's family is from Sparti and Mani. My last name contains the word found in the word Makedonia when you break it down. In the Dorian dialect it means length indicating that Dorians whether they were Macedonians or Spartans were tall people. Makedon>Makos>Dorian instead of the Ionian Mikos=length. So yeah Makos is the ending of my last name ;)
My family is from Sparti and Mani too. You can see these definitions in my video about the origin of the name of Macedonia. Spartans and Macedonians belonged in the Greek tribe of Dorians! Thanks for your comment!

Etnic stupid is your name, you are more than welcome to use it. In fact u are stupid, ueducated, propagandist, naive, thief and u turn a blind eye to the truth and only accept the things that suit you. You even try to distort UN's resolutions and u ommit those who forbid u to steal. In a few words u are PATHETIC and that's why wold academia laugh at u.
YOU ARE ETHNIC BULGARIAN and dont act stupid on me, i've already told u that under UN and existing nation's heritage is protected by forgerers like u and as i said France, Austria, Germany, China and others have done it in the past. You have no righ to use my name for your slavic population. You cannot self determinate on other people's name. Got that? That;s identity theft not self determination. So why should we not speak about ethnic Pelagonians too? As i said.....take a hike!
I have every right to tell you who you are not and u are not Macedonian and i have every right to protect my heritage by thieves like you, Democracy does not mean that i will sit idle while u steal my history but how would u know what democracy is......these essneces are all GREEK to you, now move on cause u mad me angry with your previous insult.
It should be noted that there is no connection between the Macedonians of the time of Alexander the Great who were related to other HELLENIC tribes and the Macedonians of today (FYROM), who are of Slavic Origin and related to the Bulgarians.
(David H. Levinson, Encyclopaedia of World Cultures, p. 239)
letter from Goce Delchev to Nikola Maleshevski, in which refers to himself as Bulgarian:
Sofia, 1 May 1899,
Kolyo (Nikola),
I have received all letters which were sent by or through you. May the dissents and cleavages not frighten you. It is really a pity, but what can we possibly do when WE OURSELVES ARE BULGARIANS and all suffer from the same disease!
"The treatment of "Macedonian" history has the same primary goal as the creation of the "Macedonian" language: to de-Bulgarize the so called "Macedonians" and create a separate national consciousness."
(Palmer & King, Yugoslav Communism and the Macedonian Question, 1971, excerpts taken from Chapter 9 "The Encouragement of Macedonian Culture")
Here buddy watch about your non existing Macedonian nation and that there were no ethnic Macedonians a few decades ago before Tito's propaganda.
watch?v=iVcPGsOlWRY
Like i said self determination is one thing but identity theft is another. No one objects you to have a separate nation if you want but you don;t have the right to use a Greek name and steal Greek history based on a name copy.
And one more thing. Greece has every right to protect its heritage by a bunch of Bulgarians like you who copied the Greek name Macedonia and try to usurp a part of its history. France did it against UK, Germany against Austria, Austria did it against Slovenia, China did it against Taiwan eventhough they were also Chinese. You cannot name your slavic nation after a historical Greek name, THAT'S IDENTITY THEFT NOT SELF DETERMINTION. Seld determinate yourself with a name of you own!
And it was not just the language buddy, if u knew history you would know that even FYROM acknowledged that Macedonians were Dorian Greeks before the fascists took power in your country. ‘From the mountains of Epirus Dorian Makednoi (Macedonians) made their advance towards Macedonia, conquering the native tribes who latter gained new, Hellenistic culture and after that are politically organized into a powerful state’
You have the right to tell the people who they should feel, right?
But it's maybe according the "democratic" Greek standards, in the rest of the world everyone have a right on self-determination, ever heard about that? =|
Yes i have heard about that, but your righ to your self determination stops where the right to protect my history starts, that's how it works. Because there is also the righ to the protection of the heritage of an existing nation, did u know that?
However you're nation is Greek nation and not Macedonia nation, maybe there are Greeks from Macedonia but in regional sens not in ethnic sens, so the nationality is more important than anything else like region and stuff like that.
There is village in Romania called Macedonia, of course the villagers calls themselves Macedonians, but not as nation. The nation is the most important and there are ABSOLUTELY no limits in the self-determination, you can call yourself how you feel.
There is no Macedonian nation, the ancient Macedonians were Greeks and not Bulgarians like you and that is why you have no right to use this name as a national identifier, the villagers in Romania use it but not as national identifier, neither they try to steal Greek history based on that synonimity like you do. Greece has been more than tolerant with you, if u did the same in Israel or Turkey they would have attacked you by now.
Man are you that stupid or your making fun of yourself? - "There is no Macedonian nation".
An ex. I call myself Ethnic Macedonian and my 4 friends - so we belong to Macedonian nation and it mens that Macedonian nation exist in THIS moment, can you get it? No talking about ancient period lol.
I was polite with you but sine u started insults be my guest. Yes moron there is no Macedonian nation, the name Macedonia is Greek and ancient Macedonians were part of thge GREEK nation.
You losers are BULGARIANS and it was Tito in 1944 who started the myth about ethnic Macedonians, until then you were Bulgarians who used the name Macedonian just like us in a regional not national sense. What part of that don't you get clown?
@forevermkd you shitty people are talking about democracy? greece is ranked 28th on the world democracy index from the united nations while you are on place 70something. go google it and don't go on my balls. "WORLD DEMOCRACY INDEX". go become a democracy yourself, then come to teach us how to be a democratic country you fascist fuck.

SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 That is true (that Sparta was weakened by the time they got to Leuktra). Well wo do not know who would have won.
But again great tribute!

SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 Well from what I have read Athen slaves had a better position because they could actually be freed. Spartan slaves were slaves forever. Also it was an entire populace being opressed; not just some captives/bought people. Plus they were regarded as animas sometimes with the initiation ritual being to kill a helot randomly.
But yesslavery was very common.
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
In Athens, the slaves were in a much worse position and whoever had slaves had a power of life or death upon them. Oppression and slavery go together. In Sparta a Helot could be free if he fought bravely for Sparta in the battlefield.
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 In Athens an owner could free the slave and many did this, so they could work for them to get their profits back. In Sparta they were bound to the soil/state. The native people of Sparta was conquered and oppressed by the Dorians. And the initiation ritual of becoming a Spartiate was to kill a helot without being seen.
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 Ahenians did free slaves and them has them as laborers to pay back their prize. This was very lucrative. Spartans however never freed slaves and their entire society was based upon slavery (80% of the populace Helot if not more?).
Athenians treated fellow members of the Attic-Delic alliance as second-ranked, but they were still allies. Spartiates treated Helots like inferior animals.
The tribute was great but was only about glory, while the Spartans had their dark sides aswel
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
There are cases of Helots being freed. Athenians did not treat their allies as second ranked but also threatened them with Obliteration. Take a look at what they did to the island of Melos when they refused to join them against Spartans. They killed all males, deported all women and children and repopulated the island with people of their own!
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 That's pretty much what the Spartans did; but instead of killing them in freedom they enlaved them in chains for the rest of their lives. And their children, and their children, and so on. What you think is worse is offcource o yoursel.
The Spartans did the same in the Peloponesic alliance. Because they couldn't defeat all these city-estates (because they couln't handle anore Helots, they did havethe military means) they forced them to join them instead.
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
Who told you that Athenians did not make them slaves? And what did i tell u to begin with? That slavery was common in the ancient world even by the societies that were democratic!
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 That's true. But the Spartans were the only ones to force an entire people into slavery and to be completely dependant on them. You didn't mention that in the tribute; fine; but I thought it would be nice so it would look less biased but it doesn't matter it's your tribute ;-)
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 From the moment Sparta came into history as we know it with it's Peloponesic war it had a Helot-driven society.
In Athens all of the civilians (demos) were farmers aswell. They weren't relying on slaves but it was a token of wealth and economical boost. But when the Spartans denied them their slaves in the war; it damaged their economy; but didn't ruin it. When the Helots were partially freed by the Thebans Sparta never rose in power again. So there is difference.
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 THat's a matter of opinion. But you know that after the lost war with the Thebans, Sparta never rose again, an the Helots were partially freed in this war which devastated Sparta, while Athens rose again after the Peloponesic war (in which they were also denied their slave shippings).
ElmerAwesome 3 months ago
@ElmerAwesome
It's not a matter of opinion buddy. Those who have delved into Spartan history know that the source of their power was the structure of their society, when that started to change, Sparta began to decline. As for Athens, the rise as you say, was nothing compared to its golden age!
SPARTANsenator7 3 months ago
@SPARTANsenator7 Sure, I'll giveyou the last word on that else this will last for days haha.
Point is still; this vid only shows the 'glorious' sides ofSparta, which is one-sided, because their reliance on slaves (greater then Athens as you agree ith me) and other aspects aren't that glorious. But it's your tribute you can portray them as positively as you want, it was just my 2 cents that I only saw their positive points.

SPARTANsenator7 1 year ago
@forevermkd

But it's maybe according the "democratic" Greek standards, in the rest of the world everyone have a right on self-determination, ever heard about that? =|
forevermkd 1 year ago
@forevermkd
Yes i have heard about that, but your righ to your self determination stops where the right to protect my history starts, that's how it works. Because there is also the righ to the protection of the heritage of an existing nation, did u know that?
SPARTANsenator7 1 year ago
However you're nation is Greek nation and not Macedonia nation, maybe there are Greeks from Macedonia but in regional sens not in ethnic sens, so the nationality is more important than anything else like region and stuff like that.
There is village in Romania called Macedonia, of course the villagers calls themselves Macedonians, but not as nation. The nation is the most important and there are ABSOLUTELY no limits in the self-determination, you can call yourself how you feel.
forevermkd 1 year ago
@forevermkd
