I have this song on the album "Dizzy", which I bought around Christmas 1972. However, I agree that Derek was better. Besides, does Tommy Roe realize the sexual undertones of the song? "Dizzy" is much more like his image. This is more like "Back Door Man"!
I named a red retriever ' Cinnamon' because of this song ... way back when it came out. I am making cinnamon toothpicks tonight and this song just popped in my head... makes me smile to remember songs like these....
I like this version, though I'm more familiar with Derek's version. Weren't they both around '68? 5*****. (Oh, and I hope 'zuseable' didn't have too much of a hangover, lol!!)
The piano and horns sound really good on this, and the background singers are a little further into the background than on the Derek (Johnny Cimbal) version. Didn't know it existed until now, but it's definitely a little better.
Great Tommy Roe fan but yes Derek's version for me.
