Okay, so I think the English sounds better (because that's the language it was composed for, herp-de-derp). But one thing that I really like about the German version is the use of pronouns in the chorus. Each time the chorus uses a different one. :D

I really like this translation even better than the original text. Singer isn't my favourite tought but still this version gets my points from the translation and how well it matches to the original lyrics being even little more poetic in some places.

And it doesn't hurt that I've always loved german language.

Okay, quick question. At 2:20 or so, he says "...bald seid ihr so weit." My question is (as a new learner of German, natch), why didn't he say "bald seid ihr bereit", especially since it would not have affected the rhyme in the least? Doesn't "so weit" mean something like "so far"?
