Totally awesome. Takes me back to when I was 7 years old playing my parents albums on the huge console record player. For some reason, I played this over and over. Don't know why.... :)
Was always a favourite, you can smell the sea, but even more spooky I was sat at the top of the cliff walk in Tenby on a winters day, listening to the tide ebbing and flowing, when all of a sudden I could hear Frank Chacksfields Orchestra playing 'Ebb Tide'. I know it was in my head, but beautiful.
It's sad we dont have more of this type of music around these days, I believe society would be much different, After all dont they say music calms the savage beast....lol...
This song reminds me of Rose Rita of Lima. Our basketball team played her HS tean in 54. Saw her across the gym during reserve game. I told myself I have to meet her.I did I danced with her. Then I would oftentime hitchhike from Urbana to Lima (53 miles) to see her .We had the most wonderful passionate kisses. In 62 she visite me at U.D. where I was a senior .She told me she was marrying another . I was devastated. However this song always reminds me of her.
Does anyone have Frank Chacksfield's Heartbreaker? It's beautiful, and I see everything is there but that one. I used to have it on a 33' but gave it away.
When I be a child in America every morning radio " elmundo" open the frecuency with this melody and believe me is a memory very exciting to the soul and mind and for think in the life and the way we live now
Ebb Tide, a popular song written in 1953 by the lyricist Carl Sigman and composer Robert Maxwell.
This is the best-known versions, by Frank Chacksfield & His Orchestra (1953).
Other great versios: Vic Damone (1953), Roy Hamilton (1954), Frank Sinatra (1958), The Platters (1960), Lenny Welch (1964) and the Righteous Brothers (1965).
Love, love, love so much this song what I'd missing a long time ago.
As mais significantes e belas palavras são muito poucas para dizer o quanto vale está apresentação, felizmente, proporcionada por graciasong. Muito, muito, muitíssimo obrigada!!!
I live under the flight path for Stansted airport and today (17 Apr 10) is the first time I can ever remember seeing a completely blue sky (no clouds or vapour trails). The combination of this glorious weather, unsullied sky, absence of background noise and beautiful music is quite, quite wonderful. Thanks for posting it!
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. I have similar noise pollution issues. We have crazy Rednecks types around here with their....Boom Boom Boom Boom.... car stereos all hours of the day and night.
What a great stress reliever. Music can be soothing and healing. It is a real shame that relatively few people are buying music like this wonderful piece anymore.
in '52 when this number came out, mom would always say it reminded her of her home in donegal and the gulls off owey island in the distance. years later, i saw and heard what she meant. just beautiful
I've had a copied tape of light instrumental music however I have yet to find the same version of this piece that I have on my tape online-could anyone please direct me to it? It has the sea waves sound effects, seagulls behind it-however it starts with a brass instrument and goes up an octave (I believe) before the main theme starts. I'm guessing it was done a bit later than these versions because it's not as subdued as the covers posted online and it's a bit faster in tempo.
I agree. This is not the version I had on a 78 record. It somehow isn.t as convincing. even the crackles on the 78 added to the effect. Keep searching
This is simply a classic in the easy listening music. Mr. Chacksfield arrangements for this beautiful piece is gentle, sophisticated as you can be, elegant and romantic. I do love this piece and brings me back good memories. Thank you for sharing this excellent music.
EBB TIDE...uma música para marcar toda uma vida...mil lembranças !!!Com qualquer interpretação é ótima de se ouvir, entretanto esta é uma das melhores...No filme "Doce Passaro da Juventude" podemos ouvi-la.Thanks
