Get yourself a DAW firstly, a midi keyboard and then research the latest vsts that are coming out, invest all the money you have into getting a set up that you feel comfortable with then perhaps spend a little more money on some equipment. the more money you invest the more seriously you will take your music production.

The DAW we use in Cubase SX3. we are considering Cubase 4 but the difference isnt that great IMO.

the equipment alone doesn't make your music. madlib uses a dr. sample 303 and he kills. damu uses an mpc 2000 with floppy disk and only 2mb ram. just because you get a cleaner sound outta more expensive gear doesn't mean shit. a wack producer in a million dollar studio is still wack, isn't he?
