Well, there no sense getting worked up. Most people, unfortunately, are not going to get into any kind of real modern music, whether it's jazz or classical or free improv, whatever. Why they then have to come along and make uninformed comments is beyond me, but one thing I can guarantee: almost without exception all the free players I know are extremely accomplished players, and they almost all know at least as much about jazz as musicians who play only the older styles.

It's a combination of many things. Learn to double tongue, hum while playing, open up your mouth more and blow as hard as you possibly can, get a bright mouthpiece, etc.

brotzzmann uses plastic rheeds like alberrt ayler, i'm pretty sure. look it up on wikipedia. ayler gets a similar tone and he used a special kind of rheed.... i think it was plastic. im not a sax player so i dont really know but i hoep this helps
