  • Does anyone know what album this might be on? I only have Machine Gun and it's not on there. Good stuff.

  • ЛОХ

  • This could be Fucking great for a Tim Burton's film!, anyway, thanks for the video!

  • Thanks for the upload. This is great.

  • love it

  • I'm pretty sure that when I woke up in the middle of last night, after listening to this about ten times the day before, I dreamt this intensity was coming to get me. Unforgettable piece of work this is.

  • He had an album named nipples <3

  • at least he didn't have to pack fish fingers on a production line for 40 years unlike the poor bastards that bought his records!

Sozialdemokraten.

  • Never heard this guy before. Bit of a pleb, is me. Cringed at first 10 sec. Then started to laugh pretty hard. Well, then I started to cry because it was so, so beautiful. Sorry, bit emotional. Just broke up.

  • "Song of unity front" 1) And because a human is a human being That's why one needs food - please! (Don't mention it!) A gossip does not make sated It brings no food! (to us) Refrain: Therefore left, two, three Thus left, two, three Where your position is, comrade! Rank to the working class unity front Cause you are a worker too. 2) And because a human is a human being One? needs also clothes and shoes! A gossip does not give warmth and also no beat of drums. Thus left...

  • This song is german by Bertolt Brecht (lyrics) and Hanns Eisler (Music)!!

    Great proletarian hymnee!!

The Communist Party of Germany (KPD) demanded a few ays after Hitlers takeover of the Power a Front of Unity against him. Because of the Resistance of the Socialist Democrats (SPD) it was not possible to constitute the explained will, that is expressed in that Song.

  • @ELobodeStepario Luxemburg hat es schon ganz richtig gesehen. Der größte Gegner des Kommunisten ist der Sozialdemokrat, nicht der Faschist oder Kapitalist.

  • this might be the funniest video on youtube

  • what is this song called?

  • what is this song called?

  • SHIT SANDWICH

  • Well, there no sense getting worked up. Most people, unfortunately, are not going to get into any kind of real modern music, whether it's jazz or classical or free improv, whatever. Why they then have to come along and make uninformed comments is beyond me, but one thing I can guarantee: almost without exception all the free players I know are extremely accomplished players, and they almost all know at least as much about jazz as musicians who play only the older styles.

  • i am going to see him live next week :D

  • Peter rules!

  • I seriously allmost laughed to death at this video!! xD

    HILARIOUS!!

  • brotzmann is genius :)

  • brotzmann is genius :)

  • This is free jazz I can appreciate it has STRUCTURE and it has A MELODY not like some of that other shit floating around where its just noise.

  • Hah, the drumkit!

  • yeah, Rent Romus LLP plays the same kind of shit. This is what happens when you stop practicing and blow off conventions, musical and otherwise. Burn the master tapes for posterity.

  • Comment removed

  • @saxnova - it's great that trolls still get butthurt about free jazz and feel a need to vent their stupid opinions about it on the internet. nobody cares what you think. go die.

  • You're a /mu/tant, aren't you? God damn you to Hell.

  • @nonwave1 I appreciate this music but sometimes depending on my mood I find it hilarious and obnoxious. If I didn't know what this was and it caught me off guard I might come off as one of those "trolls".

I don't think free jazz is particularly high brow or hard to get into, it's like Merzbow, when the hell would you actually sit down and think "okay, now I want to listen to Peter Brotzmann emulate a machine gun with his saxophone for half an hour"?

  • @andrewneedsalawn ALL THE TIME especially when i read comments like yours

  • @sunra3000 you might enjoy Experimental Audio Research if you have an ear for this

  • @nonwave1 yes.

  • @nonwave1 word. up. like it or not, it's been taking shape for over 50 years now...people need to really get more comfortable with themselves...

  • @saxnova "the emperor has no clothes" SHUT THE FUCK UP HOLY SHIT

  • @GuitarCriti01 Maybe you're right. It takes a certain appreciation for sound in general to be able to think of something "noisy" in the same regards you would "music."

  • @GuitarCriti01 then stop looking on the internet for this kind of stuff, idiot.

  • go back to your malmsteen cd`s dipshit

  • @GuitarCriti01 Shut the fuck up, I'm not going to lie, I don't enjoy this that much, but other people do. I'm sure I like stuff you guys don't like too. just accept the fucking differences man

  • @GuitarCriti01 What? you fucking fuck fuck face fuck. This music is the pinnacle of intellectual musicality in every discernable sense of the term. The saxophonist DARES to break the barriers of conformist nazi jazz and plays one of the greatest, most melodic solos I've ever heard. And check out his tone! Who are YOU to tell him that it's not a good solo? Also, why are you watching videos if you don't like them!?!?!

Actually, in all seriousness, this video is pretty ass

  • @DarthClam nazi jazz? dude. the guy is jewish

  • @GuitarCriti01 all music is noise, and all noise can be music

  • It really bugs me when people hear this kind of music and say "It's not music, it's just noise" - well I think this clip amply shows that only *bloody awesome* musicians can produce this kind of racket :D

  • freejazz is hard work to do ;)

  • God damn taht was one of the best things ive seen all winter

  • Polish Television has the whole video of this concert. Now, how to get it...?

  • Czy ktoś może ma nagranie całego koncertu?? Pilnie poszukuję go!

  • I love how at the beginning of the "free" part, he still plays the melody for a few seconds, only way more intense.

  • gotta have huge lungs.

  • No matter how much I practice, I still can't get that kind of tone out of the saxophone. I currently practice and average of 10-12 hours a day. Do you think I should practice more? Maybe change equipment? Please help me.

  • just try to not think about what u doing it for, rather enjoy it. u might even come up with ur own sound.

  • you have to sing/scream into the saxophone while you are playing.

  • It's a combination of many things. Learn to double tongue, hum while playing, open up your mouth more and blow as hard as you possibly can, get a bright mouthpiece, etc.

  • brotzzmann uses plastic rheeds like alberrt ayler, i'm pretty sure. look it up on wikipedia. ayler gets a similar tone and he used a special kind of rheed.... i think it was plastic. im not a sax player so i dont really know but i hoep this helps

  • This sounds Jewish. Is it?

Admittedly, I'm not all that knowledgeable about Jewish music.

  • Drummer missed the ending maybe because he made his cymbals from the road signs that you can usually find abandoned on Warsawska Street.

  • How the hell does he get that horrible horrible tone?!?!?! I want that tone!!!

  • I used to sound like that, not bc I was good, but mainly caused I sucked. Just the reed vibrating so much while holding a single note makes it go out of wack. LOL how ironic that this guy makes me enjoy now what I used to detest.

  • If you control your sound and do it consciously, then you'r e in control and can use it to exprees your self better..

  • Ужас,но комментс

  • Great upload. And here I was beginning to think there was no early footage of Peter Brotzmann.

  • Love that drum kit

  • Free Jazz anyone?

  • does anybody know what tune they are playing?

  • heard in the c.haden liberation music orchestra first record.. could be the himn of the anarchic women, traditional from the spanish civil war

  • Thanks ! charlie Haden liberation music orceastra: Song Of The United Front.

  • it's a kurt weil number from a bertolt brecht play: Song of the United Front

  • Actually it's not Weil's; it is by Hans Eisler and it was composed over Brecht's lyrics on 1934.

  • It's not Weil's composition; it was written by Hanns Eisler over Brecht's lyrics on 1934.

  • My Brains are Free. P.K. is a bad man...

    in a perfect way....

  • Kowald is ripped. Dude looks like a body builder.

  • REVOLUTION IS NOW!!!!!

  • hail the Pact of Warsaw!!!

  • Great, I have a 7" FMP single of this by the Brotzmann, Bennink , Van Hove trio which is pretty damn good too

  • pure love!

  • thanks for posting, mr. nonwave...SICK! p.s....nonwave aka ww? i friggin love YOUR work.

  • This has made my day! I love the huge ear suspended above the stage! Thanks for the upload.

  • Hey nonewave, masz może całe wideo nagrane????

  • PASSION!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!! Vintage. They are actually playing Song Of The United Front by Hans Eisler. An old workers song also covered by Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra on their 1969 self titled album. Great to see such a great early clip from all these european warriors of freedom.

  • i CANNOT hear Kowald, motherfuckit, this is a RIPPER.

  • Romantik!

  • crazy stuff!

  • It's the "Einheitsfrontlied" by Brecht/Eisler.

  • JAMBOREE INDEED! Thanks for this clip, great to see!! I'm sure we'd all love more old videos of these fellows if you've got any!

  • Now that's a polka!

  • Whoa! So this is like the Schlippenbach Quartet with Brotz in place of Evan Parker - i had no idea they played in that configuration (no albums of this particular lineup). Are they playing a worker's anthem or something? Thanks for putting this up, WW... more please.

  • It sounds like a standard polka until 45 seconds in, then it's, well, you know....

  • Wow... so was that Benneck and Van Howe? And who was the bassist?

  • dude, read the notes in "about this video" to the right.

  • the bassist is if I see right Peter Kowald, you can find more about him also here on you tube. Like Peter Broetzmann he was from Wuppertal-Germany.

  • more please.thanks.

  • Awesome clip. Thanks Weasel.

  • Yeah...thanks nonwave...awesome clip.
