@madekri thank you for the kind words. i am using midi, but only to select patches in the rig and control the loopers. i'm not using a guitar synth, or any other synths in this clip.

Just wondering if that is a Mesa Triaxis preamp I see in your rack, and if so how do you like it? Also I have been going back and forth on whether or not to get the TC G-Force or the Eventide Eclipse as my FX processor and I see you have both. If you had to keep only one, which would you go with and why? I appricate your response!

@MrShredtilldead - yes, that's the triaxis. superb preamp. never thought i'd sell it, but i recently moved over to the axe fx from fractal audio and sold all my other rack gear, including the eclipse and the g-force. the eclipse sounds better than the g-force, but the g-force is better value for money, as it can run more fx at once and is also easier to program, imo

@simeonharris40 How are you liking the Fractal?.I have heard mixed reviews about it. Any concerns with having the preamp and effects processor in one? I have heard its good, but also the complexity of it can be a nightmare. I wll be honest that I am looking to build my first rack rig sometime in the near future and am not an expert on such things, but I have always dreamed of having a rack rig. Any helpful advice you could lend? Since you seem to be very well versed in such equipment and such.

@MrShredtilldead well if you're not very experienced with rack gear, then i would suggest starting off simply. you can always upgrade units at a later date, as you get more proficient and you start to figure out what it is you really need. if you like mesa tones, then the triaxis with the mesa 20/20 and perhaps a rocktron multi fx would be a good place to start. if you prefer marshall, then a JMP-1 and a marshall el34 50/50 would be a nice combination. start with 3 units and go from there

Sounds awesome. The Eclipse is such a deep box! You sound great here! How are you digging the LP-1? Have been chatting around with some people about its versatility...In your estimation, is it good enough to dump the Echoplexes? I got way too much gear as it is, plus a pinched nerve, and I feel another hernia coming on (OK, not the hernia part)...But still, I need to lighten the load! Hope all is well.

@racketlauncher hi ian. i no longer own the eclipse or the lp-1. i had a massive gear sell off this year, so i'm now using the axe fx from fractalaudio and looping with mobius on a macbook pro. the lp-1 is a great unit, but has a very different feature set than the edp, so is not a direct replacement. contact me directly if you'd like to discuss further.

simeon what do you think about the sustainiac? How do you have it integrated with your guitar? clamp on, box or stealth pro? I was looking at adding it to my les paul but was unsure about which version would work best with the guitar.

i have the stealth. i suppose it depends on how much you want to modify your guitar (if at all).

Reminds me of Vangelis, one of my favorites growing up. How crucial was the Eventide Eclipse to getting this sound? I have a TC Electronic G-Force, but the Eventide units I presently use are the TimeFactor and PitchFactor pedals.

Man, this is awesome! You blew me out, seriously... I'm fond of these soundscapes and am trying to improvise them myself. But I do not have good units to do that. All I can do is record loops sound on sound on my Boss DD-7, having no effects from Ada mp-1. Don't know what to buy to ease my problems. Can you give an advice? I'm dreaming of a reverb and a looper.

yes, reverb is a good place to start. use your dd7 for modulated delays and buy a dedicated looper.

Awesome sounds good even on youtube. I've always enjoyed your demos of the eventide. Have the 3000 and am hopefully getting an 8000 this year. I'm mostly a keyboard player but I can't wait to get my guitars through these.

Excellent Sim! I've been listening to Captured and Realms for quite some time now. This seems to be about as close as I can get to a live show. lol. Perhaps someday you'll play in San Diego.

Question. Are you cascading the TC and the Eventide in series or running them in parallel?

Excuse my ignorance but what's the difference (in hook up therms) between cascading two units in series and/or parallel?

well if the units are in series, then one is sending signal to the other. in parallel, the signal would be split, go through each unit separately and then the outputs would be mixed back together. the method you choose would have implications in determining the sort of sounds you could create. a full explanation would take up more space then i have available here!

Series means that the full signal of one processor is being fed directly into the next processor. Parallel implies that there the effected signal of one processor is split into two paths -- a dry path (unaffected by the subsequent processor) and a wet path in which the subsequent processor would be located. This allows the user to blend in the amount of affected signal.

Simon cool sounds. Did you buy the LP-1 in the UK? or direct from Bob. Just wondered if you got hit with the import duty. I haven't seen it in the UK. I use two ECHOPLEX Pro's but plan to enter into debt and get an LP-1 very soon. The Eclipse is also amazing piece of gear but has a heavy price. More music please. Please take a listen to music on my two films. Both created using the Echoplex running in stereo.

i use both in tandem. you can hear clips of both machines on my website. the g-force can run more fx at once, but the eventide has better verbs.
