  • That's the theme tune from "The Master", with Lee Van Cleef! Ha Ha! I loved that show as a kid!

  • What was a ZX spectrum?

  • The first home computer in Britain.

  • Ah I see. Was this the same folks who made the commodore 64 here in Yank land?

  • I can't remember this game at all. It's new on me!

  • brilliant game love the sound effects i remember i used 2 take it so seriously back then

  • I borrowed it from a mate and spent hours playing it. The sound effects are very realistic. When you get hit you can feel the pain.

  • I particularly love the sound of the crowd violently relieving themselves. When armageddon comes, it will sound like that.

  • Having your head down a toilet bowl when someone has taken a dump and hasn't flushed it would make anyone throw up.

  • I thought it would never come to pass. Someone did Ninja Master! One of the worst games in history. Unless, of course, you happen to be a fan of ninja olympics simulators. Must say, however, Ninja Master was clearly pushing the little 'Speccy's' hardware to the limit!

  • History remembers this game as a hero. If someone cares to upload the C64 version we can all have a laugh. Surely Spyhunter on the C64 was a deserter and punished for cowardice! Afraid to do large sprites. afraid to do bright colours.

  • LOL the theme tune is nicked of the TV series 'The Master' which starred Lee Van Cleif. Dare say there is a You Tube video of the opening titles?

  • HaHaHa! I had forgotten all about 'The Master'. There is an intro to the show on here. Great tv series. Cheers mate!

  • i used to love this game, havent seen it in years:)

  • I was trying to think of the name of it and couldn't remember. Managed to eventually track it down, lol! Still playable but not in the same league as Daley and Hypersports.

  • If this is the game i'm thinking of (and i'm pretty sure it is), it wouldn't load after I got it home.

When I took it back to the shop, the decrepit old geezer who sold it to me took one look in the inlay and, after seeing an obvious joke in the instructions about wearing sweatbands whilst playing, suggested I took the game back home, tried it again but follow the said advice.

Needless to say, I left the store with my £1.99 back in my pocket.

  • The thing was, back then older people believed everything that the inlay said. Thanks to them so many kids ended up with shitty games for Christmas.

*Left the store with my £1.99* ...and proceeded to buy a pair of sweatbands!

  • This was one of the first games I got for my Spectrum, along with Megabucks; would have been xmas 86 I guess. When I got my Interface 2 and Quickshot 2 Turbo, I could cheat on the karate chop round with the auto-fire switch on the back, the power arrow would go right off the guage! I also remember that I assigned the keys 1-9 for the controls as it went through the setup, not very intuitive thinking about it :)

  • It's a pity there's no way to cheat in the other events. Instantly playable and a good introduction to the speccy. Defining the keys does take a bit of thought, but 1-9!?!...nooooooooo!

  • I bought this and I was quite pleased with it after shelling out the budget amount of 199 or 299 whatever it was. It sounds like he is saying "TOY!" sometimes when he punches and kicks. And the other cry like he's just sat on a cactus!

  • It's good fun and for £1.99 nobody could complain.

  • i enjoyed playing this game...probably could have done with having a few more events though; Its like an oriental version of hypersports!! Well done on attaining your yellow belt.

  • The sound effect at the start of each event was nicked from Hypersports. The lack of events is it's weakness but still a good game.

  • I've got to echo Matt on this one... hahaha!!! This could conceivably be a BASIC program with a couple of machine code subroutines for the sprite movement.

IMO, the best Speccy ninja games are the ones based on the "Way Of The Tiger" gamebook series. It's just a shame there was no adventure game conversion of the gamebooks themselves (which were excellent).

I can't really remember but didn't Codemasters have a game called something like Professional Ninja Bike Simulator? :)

  • I had the sound off when I watched it first time round. I've got to admit the sound effects add a lot!!

  • That's what I do with the tv.

  • It does have that Basic feel to it but it plays well. Good reactions are needed. It also has something to aim for, as in the Black Belt.

You're probably thinking of BMX Ninja by Alternative.

  • Hahahaha ! What the !??!?

  • I had forgotten all about this game and just remembered it a few days ago. It is pretty amusing with the sound effects and also quite a good game. It's a pity they didn't include more events though. Catching the javelin with your teeth would have been a good one.
