Stepper Motor Generator - Experimental Bridge Rectifiers 1

Hello very much a newbie to electronic generators. I have a four wire stepper motor like to experment with. on paper how would i wire it with full bridge retifier? Thanks in advance. how many amps does this output? I need to know, because I want to use a stepper motor for charging my 12v 5Ah battery on my bike. Also, can u give me a parts list and schematics for the rectifier circuit?

Unfortunately you are looking at fractions of an amp for this setup. If you talk to Peter over at modelenginegenerators-dot-com he has a more substantial unit that might serve your needs better.

The diode circuit is easy enough. To maximize current a half-wave circuit works best. For that you just need a single diode on the end of each coil in the motor. I don't have space to get into it here, but if you google stepper motor generators and half-wave rectifier circuits, you'll find what you need.

i am surprise that you didn't burn out any LED, u should put some resistors to lower current. You should get familiar with the terms unipolar and bipolar. Unipolar motor has 5 or 6 wires. and bipolar has 4 wires.

I've tried with and without resistors and I've concluded that there's no way that I am ever going to burn out an LED with any generator. They simply do not produce enough current. I've only ever burnt out LEDs when I have underestimated the length of time that a capacitor can hold a charge. The surge current produced by plugging a charged cap into the circuit will fry any unprotected LED instantly.
