maramarky, the lander was suppose to land on a certain spot, and if it had airbags, it would bounce everywhere, and therefore would be unable to settle in one specific place.
phoenix landing was amazing.. those thrusters really looks cool.. but what if the landing process of phoenix was the same with the pathfinder were it uses airbags to bounce on the martian surface,will it be crushed or damage some of its instruments bcuz of the impact on bouncing the surface?
