I have a border terrier - absolutely electric on the rabbits (no regard for himself when he goes through brambles, comes out with ripped nose etc) but, I've never taken him ferreting. Now he is 4.5 yrs old, do you think he is he too old to get steady to ferrets?
@MrRjohartest - if a terrier isn't introduced to Ferrets from a young age is likely that they'd not gel well if out in the field - when the rabbit bolts - the ferret is usually right behind it & unless the dog is broken to them this could end in the death of the ferret....Having said that - it not unheard of for a dog (especially Borders) to be 'in tune' with the Ferret on 1st meeting - i'd suggest trying the dog & ferret from the same bowl of milk to see how it goes - if all OK - take them out!
Great seeing a Stafford atbwork! It is amazing how gentle he is with them, holding for you to come and get them. Anytime my stafford catches a rabbit in the yard he kills it, the bugger.
Fucking Great Video I Just Wanna Say I Think How You Take Your Staffie Along Is Amazing I Have Too Staffies Nd I Think They Would Bee Terrible lol Keep Up The Good Work Mate !! !! !! !! ..........
attributes to catch a rabbit and half the time know exactly where the rabbit is going to come out of. Also rabbiting isnt crule. very rarely does the ferret get ahold of the rabbit the dog doesnt kill it WE do, and humanely unlike your slaughter houses you get your meat from. you know that shock to the brain doesnt kill them it just immobalizes them. its like being struck by lightening then having your throat cut to bleed to death.
I have a bike and bike ride to my rabbiting places thank you. and obviously know nothing about where your food comes from. People like us keep the pests down and also i EAT rabbit and i bet this guy does too. and you'd be surprised at how many rabbits do get away. And his staffy isnt actually biting down if you look carefully his MOUTHING IT holding it in place. Staffies aren't bred for hunting rabbit BUT there brilliant at it. There not like sight dogs, sniffer dogs they used ALL their
Get yorself a bike and a life and leave wild animals to nature. It got along fine for millions of years without your dog, your ferret and your bloodlust. You've too much time on your blood stained hands and your guilt is evident in answering this comment so quickly.
You obviously don't get out much do you...."get yorself a bike" - (learn to spell!) why so I can ride around polluting the earth like you do !!... no thanks .. I'd rather spend my time doing what I do best... bloodlust !...no - control of the overpopulation of vermin like rabbits. tell you what - just go & sit your'e lard arse on your'e bike n ride off into the sunset one more time & I'll carry on enjoying the outdoors....hows your carbon footprint doing?!?
Sport? Sport? What a joke. Thanks for the laugh.

Lots of people laugh when we say the staffie is coming out with us ferreting. Staffordshires we think make great companions, lets see....
