As mentioned in the video, Ali resides and works in Kibbutz, means he doesn't need to pay for his food, he even gets some basic closing, and I believe, he gets a minimal pay so he may afford having a cellphone, which is definitely not a luxury item nowadays.
"These people" are not in need of your money, but of your minimal compassion, as they went through a hell of "Holoucoster Genocide". Israel provides them a chance to regroup and recover. Most of people that I spoke to willing to come back to their native land asap.
This is a wonderful documentary - but I wish it had subtitles to hear what the young Israeli guy was saying.
