@Mountchoirboy Actually in this performance he only goes as low as contra A, whereas in other recordings he goes down to contra G and F, and in one of the videos in the sidebar you can hear Yuri Wichniakov sing contra E. Just FYI :)
horrrible new... what was a reason of his death - maybe who knows? he was not so old... i newer saw him, but through his singing i felt his unobtrusive, almost tender presence. i felt him like misterious friend.
magnificent, great basso, which sounds like voice of God
This news grieves me, but of all the profondos I have heard, Mr. Pasjukov reminded me most of the saints I have known as they neared the end of this life. I think there was an octave the Lord set aside before the foundation of the world... and I think that on June 20, He called the man He had prepared for that octave. And I think on that day, Vladimir Pavlovich Pasjukov awoke to sing in Glory; as he was faithful here, so rewarded there in joy & perfection, forever. Sing on, Mr. Pasjukov...
@KjeXXXer@lnwalker Sorry, i constructed my responce in a way that leads to misunderstanding.
Mr. Miller announced it not there, but in russian community about oktavists that he has created and maintaining. To quote him,
"20.06. после продолжительной тяжелой болезни в С.-Петербурге скончался бас-профундо Владимир Павлович Пасюков. Россия потеряла еще один уникальный голос... Помянем нашего старшего товарища."
That's tragically, but mr. Pasuykov had really passed away that day.
@taviskaron15 No worries. That's cool that you get to participate in a community like that. Could you perhaps translate Miller's words for us? Thanks in advance.
"On June 20, after a long-lasting and cruel disease, in St.Petersburg, died Vladimir Pavlovich Pasyukov, basso profondo. Russia has lost one more unique voice... Remember our senior friend."
His voice was a force of nature. Deep, warm, powerful and resonant like no other. A truly unique voice, which to our great luck was recorded many times. His recordings are an orthodox choral music treasure.
My hero and my inspiration in song. What saddening news!
What an unfathomable loss for the world of choral music. I will always cherish his deep, resonant beauty and hold it as a guiding light for my own work. From an aspiring oktavist: Spasibo, Vladimir.

@taviskaron15, He is not dead. I spoke about him to Vladimir Miller few months ago. He is in very poor health but he still performs. He is retired from from full time performance but he still sings occasionally with various choirs.
@lnwalker Alas, he is. Mr.Miller himself has posted that tragic news in our Russian oktavist-community. Look the "Vladimir Pasjukov - Do Not Reject Me In My Old Age" video and comments for it for more information.
@taviskaron15 look at Vladimir Miller, basso profundo. Masterclass in Holland 06.11.09.avi . Vladimir Miller said He is in poor health and that was only a few months ago.
I absolutely love this.

@taviskaron15 Isn't it rather by Pavel Grigorievich Chesnokov?
1donpizarro 5 months ago
@1donpizarro yes!!! I made an awful misprint. Of course, It's by Chesnokov, from "Милость мира", as far as I remember.

@taviskaron15 Thank you. Do you know the ensemble? Is this on a commercially released album?
dallassax 5 months ago
@dallassax terribly sorry, I accidentally misdirected you.
The song was composed by Pavel Chesnokov, it's from "Милость Мира", as far as I know. probably I'm wrong again, though. :-(
I don't know anything about its release, sorry.
