  • @darrenmcgarry100 hard to say - i never tried cheeze trout bait before but you never know

  • hey bill how much salt vs water do you use for your cure?

  • @Mathewsman11 i dont measure - i just pour a bunch in a bowl of water - keep adding til eggs float in solution

  • ROADSNAKE IS THE MAN!!!

  • Easy does it bro

  • Where u get the bags and different eggs

Are the eggs from a jar

    Where u get bands

    Nice vid keep it up

  • Where u get eggs and bags also thanx for the tips

  • Where can you buy the roe bag material? none of my local tackle shops have them and I tried Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops also and have had no luck!

  • @BorisWDell they all seem to work fall thru spring . i like coho eggs but pink should do just as good

  • i yoused rainbow trout eggs do you think it will work because this year only onespring do you think pink salmon eggs work

  • Great video! I appreciate your tutorial!!

  • @Mumszzr600 thanks man

  • I love how unfitting the music is lol.

  • If you were to cure your salmon eggs with a commercial product what color would you choose? I was thinking pink and natural but theres also red and orange. I am going to be fishing for salmon, steelhead and trout with Columbus day weekend. Thanks for your advice?

  • Dude u rock u should try fishing at Chester CT cedar lake they have a wide variety I go there in summer and memorial day and labor day actually I go to a camp and it's right on the lake it's called camp hazen

  • Why non-iodized salt?

  • Do u put sum trout and salmon eggs in the pouches or just trout OR slamon in the pouches and wen dun do they float please answer

  • @JynxXIPlayerHD no i don't mix - they sink

  • Hey easy works for me too because most of the time I wait a long time to catch a fish and the sun is blazing down and I get sunburns waiting for them darn fish to take my bait. How do you put them on your rod?

  • nice video man very helpful for us first timers. "ruff" .."shut up shelley" haha or chili i couldnt tel what the dogs name was.

  • how do u cure your eggs??

  • @flyfisher4life1 we stream harden and salt cure our eggs

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE for salt cure do you boil the water and put salt in it ? then the eggs.

  • @flyfisher4life1 i just dissolve enough non iodized salt in cold water so that the eggs float -i leave them in the salt water for a half hour or so then rinse with plain cold water

  • thanks for the video, we tried tying our own egg sacks once and it was a disaster, lol. I'm reluctant to try again but this video helps, there was a few things i did wrong lol

  • That was some classy shit man. I'm hittin up the Muskegon river this weekend in MI.

  • where can I get them?

  • @8803Dorsey gander mountain

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE ahh thanks bud

  • thanks very very much for the information

  • Thanks very much for the information

  • how do you keep the egs freash when you get them from the fish

  • @spenc98fishing i put the in a zip lock and stream harden them for a few mintutes (add stream water to bag for 5 minutes then drain )then i salt cure and freeze them in small jars when i get home

  • @spenc98fishing You have to first catch a HEN

  • how can you tell if the trout has eggs

  • @spenc98fishing well first you got to know what time of year that particular species of trout spawns and know if its a female then look and see if the belly is real fat .

  • How doe you cure the eggs becasue i have a skien i need to cure.

  • @BASSSTALKER89 i just salt cure loose eggs but i think your better off with pro cure or borax for skein

  • thanks and for the loose eggs how much salt do u use caue i tye the egg sacks and dont want the eggs to go bad

  • @BASSSTALKER89 i put maybe a cup of salt in a big bowl of cold water, you still have to keep them frozen if salt cured or they will go bad

  • what is your dogs name my dogs names chevy sound like u said chevy

  • @airsoft242 dogs name is shadow

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE oh awesome name love your vids try to make more crappie vids please

  • how do you get the eggs from the fish? just squeeze them out

  • @Iwreckallyotes when therye ready they just about fall out of the fish on there own but a little squeeze helps

  • Nice video....thanks for posting!

  • @CanonDude07 live fish - we salt cure them in salt water for 30 minutes

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE then what, do you rehydrate them before use, or theyre good to go out of the salt?

  • @welovedickblake1 after we soak them in salt water for a half hour we rinse then soak them in cold water for a few minutes

  • @CanonDude07 we used to do good on the mepps black furry with the black blade and orange spots . i like silver and blue.

never really used the rooster tails - i like the vibrax spinners better

  • @roadsnake90roadsnake where do you get the elastic string

  • @wnysportsman gander mountain, dicks sporting goods or any of the local bait shops

  • @CanonDude07 spinners like vibrax and panther martin work good in our streams ,plastic trout beads work good at times too

  • It would be nice if you could tell us how to "tie" the "knot" or whatever! :D

  • @kid5oh3 don't need knots with magic thread

  • Would eggs from the bait shop work as well?

  • @SportsNutt123 it depends on how fresh and how they cure them - some are pretty good others are crap

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE any recomendations? Cause I have no way of getting straight from the fish. Thanks for quick response!

  • What time of the year should i be use the egg sacs? Where do you get the eggs from

  • @niggahigganum2 - the egg sacks work good september thru may .

i get the eggs from the fish

  • Nice bait and nice dog aswell

  • Haha nice music, good video

  • what kind of elastic is that?

  • @hotwheels526 ITS ATLAS -MAGIC THREAD

  • music sucks great vid tho

  • Where do u get them loose??

  • @THEEGUY89 iget them loose from the fish in the fall during the spawning runs

  • how do u get the skin of the skeen ?

  • man i dont know- i get the eggs when theyre already loose - some guys do good on skein sacks where they cut small pieces and turn it inside out in the mesh with the eggs facing out ans membrane in the center

  • this guy is a bad ass

  • do u have to like keep them in a fridge or something>

  • i keep them in the freezer til i'm ready to use them

  • whats the advantage of different colored mesh

  • @Nekkidj -chartreuse shows up better in stained water -white looks more natural in clear water -sometimes they prefer hot pink

  • Did you cure your eggs? They look natural.

  • @pyang89 we salt cure them

  • nice, i got myself a 23lb lake ontario king over the summer. i put the the 2 rows of eggs in a xiplock bag and froze them. can i still make these into trout bait for this spring?

  • probably be good for cutting into skein chunks but usually if you don't cure the eggs before you freeze them they get to mushy for tying into sacks.

    we were at the catt

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE would these eggs work for stream trout like brookies browns and bows?

  • never tried them for stream trout but i cant imagine them working any better than worms or minnows in the streams

  • yeahupp

  • where did u get the sack mesh stuff?

  • @Iwreckallyotes most local bait shops around the great lakes and gander mountain sell the stuff or you can order it from bass pro or cabelas

  • thank you.

  • also make more videos please :D

  • re your eggs fresh or do you buy them in the jars at likebass pro or such?

  • fresh cured

  • hey I kept some eggs from a perch I caught and made sacks just like you did in the vid, the only thing I did was freeze em, will they work at all or was it a waste of time?

  • i don't know - all i ever use is salmon and trout eggs but i know fish eat sucker eggs which are small like perch eggs

  • Where And How Do You Get The Trout And Salmon Eggs?

  • catch a trout that has eggs in it and squeeze them out i think

  • @OrangeFemineBastards yah catch them and squeeze them

  • I kept some eggs from a perch I cut up and put them in sacks just like your doing in the vid there. I never did anything to them except freeze them, will they work or was that all just a waste or time?

  • were do u get the trout and salmon eggs and where do u get the netting

  • I'm for easy too man...

  • which hook to use? would help thanks..triple hook?

  • triple hooks no good -fish can see em too good .we use octopus style or eagle claw wide bend in size 10 ,12

  • im not as good as you, but im getting there, LOL~!

  • continueation- how to cure them, and he said, boil water, and keep adding salt until it doesnt disovle anymore, then let the water cool down, and them put the eggs in, and keep them in over night untill they can bounce, like if you just drop them on the table they will bounce, it worked well, well thanks ttyl man

  • hey man, i just finished tieing my roe bags/ egg sacks. i didnt have that much, i just had about 4 and a half dozen, iguess wich is fine for me! it took me a while to tie them, since it was my first time. i learned how to tie them all from you! lol, i asked a guy at my local bait shop,

  • after i have my egg sacks tied can i keep them in the fridge or is the freezer a must?

  • if they're cured with borax ,pro cure or something like that they will last a little while in the fridge but if stream hardened or salt cured its best to keep them frozen and thaw them out slowly the night before fishing

  • so after you cure them in that salt that you said in this vid, and then you make them into sacks, you put them in your freezer, and then when you wannna use them, you take them out? and then after your done, and theres still some left, you put them back in your freezer?

  • you got it

  • What do you do with those egg sacks when you're out fishing do you put them directly on your hook? Would those work for trout farmed rainbow trout?

  • yes directly on the hook -i don't see why they wouldn't work for farmed rainbow trout

  • What do you do with those egg sacks when you're out fishing? Do you just put the whole sack on your hook? Would that work for trout farmed rainbow trout?

  • where did u get eggs

  • from fish we caught on lake Ontario tributary streams

  • really

  • Ya headin out to the stream any time soon?

  • i plan on getting out tomorrow

  • hey man you ever use just plain old balls o fire wrapped in that mesh?

  • can't say i have

  • ok i got a question?. for the cold water and salt cure. do you put the whole skeins or single them out? how long would they last with this type of cure when refrigerated.

  • i rarely keep skeins -too messy to fish with but when i do i use the salt cure (whole skein) but i think your better off with borax or pro cure for skeins.

the salt cured and stream hardened eggs don't last very long refrigerated -you have to freeze them - you can refreeze them over and over ,even the sacks but i keep them in small jars. the salt cured only lasts a few days in fridge before they go bad but will freeze well for a year or 2

  • is this legal in america

  • yes - completely legal and deadly for trout

  • you could get arrested for up to 5 years in ireland

  • man i'm glad i live in america the land of the free

  • Do you know if it is as deadly in iron mines in northern mn?

If so, what color and where do u get the mesh?

  • i have always tried to puncture 1 egg before i cast it out to release the scent..and i don't use magic thread because i can't find any : (

  • use any alastic line or sowing line or u can use fishing line to=)

  • @wikiwikiwias000 Amazon.com

  • sk8rdude you can get spawn net at any local baitshop, walmart has them, canadian tire, bass pro etc. the net is like 2.49 each in canada

  • so do you just hook it on the hook....and try not to puncture the eggs...or do you tie it to the hook or something....i dont exactly get it....also do you just throw them on a bobber and test depths or would you just cast them out there and let them go to the bottom....

we are kinda new to the big pond fishing scene...lol

  • we just hook them and try not to puncture too many eggs-we normally fish them drifting along the bottom on the streams bobber or just hook and split shot or suspended off bottom a couple ft using a bobber in the harbors or lake

  • ok and what time of year do you use them?

would it be successful at the end of july?? because we are going to doorcounty area planning on fishing...and when we arnt trolling im planning on throwin these out...if they would work...any suggestions on when to use them?

  • dont know about that-we use them september through may in the streams. we use them in the steams harbors and near shore creek mouth areas when the trout are running -i dont know about deeper waters-i wouldn't think they would work out deep

  • no i mean when we are docked in the marina...i know that there is great action there...im not sure about depth i would guess at max casting distance it would be like 20 ft deep?

  • where cancan you get spawn netting wallmart??? target???

  • around here we get it at gander mountain ,dicks sporting goods or any local bait & tackle

  • oh ok thanks! great vids man. i always use inline spinners for trout but i gotta try this :)

  • how do you tie the hook??

  • i use a Palomar knot to tie the hook and then bury the hook in the sack so the fish cant see it

  • are you successful at catching trout?

  • i catch a few

  • i know - after 6 or 7 tries on the video opening i gave up and just spliced the video together

  • i'd make samlon row

  • do u get the mesh at any store, like walmart

  • walmart-gander mnt and most of the local bait shops-i like the red wing stuff better than atlas-bills hooks over by canadaway creek has it

  • k, sweet, i live about 3 streets down from bills hooks thanks

  • Where would u get salmon/trout eggs in ontario?

  • lake ontario - we get e'm in october during the spawning run-the fish cleaning station sells them or you can try to catch your own salmon

  • thxs

  • I would not recommend eating one lol :) I tried some salmon eggs the other day and it tastes exactly how it smells.

  • can I use water for the salt cure? what amount of salt are you using? Great Video man I appreciate it!

  • i use cold tap water and add salt till the eggs float

  • what am i doing wrong? my sacks turn white after about 3 drifts. i stream hardened them.

  • i dont know -i usually get at least a couple dozen long drifts - the last batch i salt cured took 15 -20 minutes of soaking under the float before they even started turning

  • u dont have any other baits for trout

  • what other good bait

  • for trout-power eggs -monnows & jig tipped with a waxworm

  • nice. would the sacks work on inland lakes?

  • i dont know -ive only used them for brown trout ,salmon and steelhead in lake erie ,ontario and the tributary's

  • do the sacks have to be round or can they be oblonged if tight?

  • i dont think it matters

  • i fish a marina for big browns and bows do you think i could use the marina water to stream harden the spawn? Note: the water is pretty dirty (4 ft. visibility)? if i coudn't that could i use my faucet water? it comes from a well and and there are no chemicals are added.

  • marina water should be fine ,well water might work to i think as long as its hard mineral water similar to natural stream water

  • Do You know any more ways to cure your eggs at home..like without commercial cures? and when you put them in salt water is it befor you tie them or after?

  • we just stream harden or salt cure.we cure them when we get the eggs and freeze them in small jars (babyfood) til were ready to tie a couple dozen for fishing.the sooner you cure the eggs after catching a fish the better the quality of eggs.

  • oh okay thanks alot.which do you think works better stream harden or salt cure?

  • i think stream hardening works best but around where i live i think it might be illegal to remove the eggs from fish at the stream.

i used to put the eggs in a plastic bag and fill it with stream water -wait 10 minutes and drain

  • okay..i just got some fresh eggs but i didnt stream harden them so they are soaking in some salt water right now. and do red hooks work better when fishing with egg sacks?

  • i dont know-i only use eagle claw wide bend lazer sharp hooks size 12 & 14-never have a problem getting fish to bite even in gin clear water and fish seem to stay hooked better than any other hooks ive tried.

  • okay..one more question and I'll be done ..when you use egg sacks do you just use the hook and sack or is there any split shot, sinker, beads etc. on the line?

  • a couple small split shots two ft. above the bait on the line.

  • alright..thanks alot..hoping to get my first one of these days. Do you think tieing up beads in spawn net will work?

  • i don't know i always like the real thing

  • yeah me 2..i was just wondering if i run out of eggs..but i shouldnt.

  • how do you find the eggs, I want to try this sometime..what time of year do you find them???

  • got to get out and catch yourself a salmon or brown trout.

around here in western new york they spawn September through early December

  • tried and i work thanks man

  • VERY NICEE!
