  • Hi John, I'm physically disabled and with my disability I've started to develop inflammation problems. Recently I watched the movie "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead" I found it wonderfully inspirational an I'm ready to try juicing more regularly. My question for you is, do you have any insight about foods that have helped inflammation? Also have you seen the movie, & what was you opinion about it? Anyone else: If you want to see some amazing results from juiceing & juice fasting watch this movie!

  • I have seen the movie, and recomend it. Foods that help inflamation are fresh fruits and vegetables. In my opinion, its more important to leave out the foods that CAUSE the inflamation, which includes processed, packaged foods that are not fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • One thing you didnt mention John, is the press can juice many fruits without even grinding at all. Just slice them into manageable pieces an wrap them in the straining cloth, i should say its high juice content fruits. awesome machine tho id get one if they developed a economical model I'm sure gerson has a contract to recommend them.

  • I do have another specific video on this subject. Its important that most vegetables (and even some fruits) are ground before pressing for best results.

  • Hey John! Great channel, informative videos - Thanks for doing what you do!

I've just purchased the Greenstar Elite because I was very much attracted to its low rpm speed which, in my understanding, keeps temperatures down while triturating produce. Based on those assumptions, isn't the Norwalk juicer more susceptible to over heating produce while its triturates?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

    Jaime

  • Yes, the Green Star Elite runs at much LOWER RPM than the "grinding aspect" of the Norwalk, so I believe there is less oxidation.

  • the reason for the norwalk choice is theres very little oxidation of enzymes

  • rawfoods Which is the best machine for to use the Welles Press.??

  • I prefer the Samson Single Auger Juicer model 9001-9006

  • your videos are the best thanks

  • What juicer would you recommend that would be closest to the Green Star? (The next one down)

  • See

  • If the norwalk juicer spins with such high rpms, doesn't that heat up the produce. I thought that was the point of the more expensive juicers to spin slowly to preserve juice integrity.

  • The Norwalk is a Great Juicer. Excellent investment. Ive owned one for 28 years. Reach them at 1-800-405-8423 or 760-436-9615 or their website is norwalkjuicerscalifornia then add dot com

  • You should be a TV spokes person. Put some Gel in your hair, mess it up a bit and the Shopping channel will be calling.

  • Discovered your videos last night....so informative! Thank you! Love that you share the pros and cons of all the juicers. It really helps to see the comparisons. I like my ceiling so I probably won't get a Norwalk because I am very easily distracted and have white ceiling tiles! :-) Blessings....

  • John, I just LOVE your videos. Thanks so much! I'm wondering if you could use one of these presses to press olives or coconuts and make your own fresh oils? Have you ever tried this?

  • I have never tried that.

  • Love it.

  • Howdy John ! I just wanted to say that I so very much enjoy all you incredibly informative videos, from growing your greens to this one. I feel that they have indeed made me a more informed consumer...and gardener!

sending TEXAS sized "love" your way!

  • Hey John, Thanks for this video! I was about to get the Norwalk juicer but its damn near the price of a car!! So this got me wondering.. what, would be a good alternative to the Norwalk? I was thinking maybe the Green Star GSE-5000 + The Welles press? I want to get the best juice quality and quantity out if these two from Vegetables, Fruits, and Leafy Greens, would the GSE- 5000 be a good choice? Please get back to me on that

  • In my opinion, the Green Star Elite and the Welles Press would be superior to the norwalk. Why? the 1st stage would be at MUCH lower RPM, plus the Green Star Elite has the "mixxing" stage to better help to get the pulp ready for juicing. That being said, for many the GSE is an overkill and will add time to your juicing process, as it can go slower.

  • I might have missed it in the video, but how is the Champion Juicer configured so that you just grind the food only without juicing it?

  • Included with each champion is a juicing screen, which is used for juicing. Instead, insert the "blank" plate which just "mushes" or homogenizes everything up.

  • Isn't the Samson a masticator machine? Masticators are not recommended in the Gerson Therapy book.

Also why not use the Juiceman J550S which has a super wide mouth and strong motor, and sometimes sells for just $80?

    Great vid :)

  • That machine must be at LEAST 30 years old; note that it still runs. And I'm a Norwalk owner; there's nothing on my ceiling except paint.

  • Hi John! If u get alerts of new questions on older videos here is mine: HOW can the Norwalk grinder spin at that RPM & NOT be as destructive NOR as LOUD as centrifugal juicers? I have heard & seen the Norwalk in action & it is whisper quiet so I don't understand how the RPM u mention can b so. When u infuse veges/ fruits w/air n heat from a violent pulverization the juice WILL de-nature & oxidize quickly. Norwalk juicers do NOT add heat nor air & keep the LONGEST! How is trituration different?

  • Its very simple. While the machines do run at high RPM, each style (norwalk grinder) or centrifugal ejection works a bit differently - shredding on the ejection juicers and grinding in the norwalk. Plus the housing on the norwalk is thick which reduces the sound.

  • men you great!!

Thank you for all this information!! A Im 20 year old and fully on health and Im going to buy me some of these maschines!!!

    Greetings from Croatia!!

  • Once again, you nailed it in the info department. thanks so much John!

  • Can I use the Omega 8004 or the Omega 8006 instead? Will it work the same, better, or worse? Thanks for your help!

  • Yes, You can use the Omega 8004 or 8006 with blank plate instead of the samson. It will work about the same.

  • Hello John. I am happy to see you made a video about the Norwalk. I first found your videos a few months ago and wondered if you would ever talk about this juicer. In your video you said the Norwalk presses 1,000 pounds and the Welles 2,000 - I think you meant to say 1 ton and 2 tons. Also, for those interested since juicing is really important to me, there is a study if you google: "other-juice-extractor-comparison-2007" which shows the Welles Press yields more than Norwalk. It's the top link.

  • you're great john! thanks for all your vids. i learnt from one of your vids to mix my leafy greens with oranges for a yummy juice in the morning, but then a friend told me not to mix citrus and leafy greens cause the citrus inhibits the body from taking up all the nutrition from the leafy greens...could this be true? its so yummy!

  • Im not generally a fan of mixxing most fruits and vegetables. That being said, I would rather mix apple or pear or asian pear with leafy greens. On ocassion I will also mix orange juice or citrus with greens. If you can do straight greens, do it! If you can add some orange juice so at least you CAN eat those leafy greens. I have not heard that citrus inhibits the body from absorbing nutrition. That being said, in general, I agree with food combining.

  • @rawfoods thanks for your answer. i really appreciate it, plus everything i learn from your vids and site.

  • How do you think a manual juicer (i notice you recommend the hurricane on your site) and the hydraulic press? Wouldn't that bring about the most nutrient rich juice since it would be untouched by electricity etc? Basically whatever pulp comes out is placed in the hydraulic press?

  • Yes, you could use the manual juicer.. If you have TIME.. it will take some time and strength to process the vegetables manually. Whatever way you can break down the vegetable into a "pulp" will work, with electricity (my choice- its just easier) or without if you choose.

  • Always enjoy your videos, thanks for the great info.

  • 2 questions: 1. why not just use say the vert 330 or such, and just press the pulp out in a welles press, then mix the two? 2. i know you lean towards the Omega line of juicers, but in your opinion, what is the best juicer for tomatoes? you have so many videos, i may have just missed it, but didn't see it in a search. enjoy your videos.

  • 1. You can use the vrt 330 to extract the juice, and then press the pulp. I have a video demonstrating this. That being said, the Gerson juicing program specifies using the norwalk and the two-step press ie: grind, mix and then press.

    2. The press style juicer is truly "best" for juicing tomatoes. Put the tomatoes in the press bag and then press it out.. yummm.. Other than a press, I prefer the Omega VRT for juicing tomatoes. I do have a video showing that in the breville vs vrt video

  • Lucky for me a former uncle had health care issues and got a juicer to try to help himself out on that. When he passed it took a while for anyone to pick it up. I decided to try it out. It lowered my cholestorol 50 points and helped me loose wieght *that with exercize* I shall never stop juicing. I am really happy to have my juicer.

  • This is an excellent and comprehensive overview! I also own the GreenStar Elite juicer and have been very happy with it. Thank you for your insight. God Bless! ~ Erika
