Mississippi John Hurt is one of my favorite musicians of all time, alongside Skip James. I think I have a pretty good fingerpicking style going, but I have always had a hard time trying to learn other peoples music from tabs. I really am enjoying your series here and seeing how simple these songs really are. I am looking forward to giving these songs another go!

The progression AND the walk-down are in the 1920's song "Alabama Jubilee" George L Cobb. The song uses 7ths on all the chords except the G in which it resolves, but this is certainly one of the earliest uses in a popular song.
