As you wrote, VR MD uses SVP, the Sega Virtua Processor. It uses SAMSUNG SSP1601 23MHz CPU, while MD's SIGNETICS/Motorola M68000 is 7.67MHz. But the SVP can only draw 300~500polygons per frame(maximum 4900polygons per second?) in 16 colors & 15frames per second. How odd...

PS: PAL version of MD sucks. :(
