  • I loved these when I was young, seriously underated x

  • What other song mentions Great Western Rd,Glasgow........."Tinder all my money"?

    Still a fave of mine!

  • Comment removed

  • quality

  • Awesome

  • Awsome, proper music.

  • I bought the album literally half a dozen times! Kept lending it to folks and never getting it back!lol Heedphones on in remote Holland, 1987, singing Hipsway as loud as poss between fields - only to see an old guy staring at me like a wiz an eejit, as he worked in the field! I carried on!lol

  • Yep their debut album was the best. Used to have it on cassette, but long since lost. Can't believe that it isn't available on iTunes!

  • defo can somebody find long white car

  • I got the album on vinyl 1986, the week it came out, absolutely fabulous track on a brilliant album!! Favourite line has to be "7:00 in the morning, tinder all my money on the great western road" and as ivevu states one of the most under-rated bands of the eighties. The 1980's are gone but the great music is still with us. Thank God

  • this brings back so many good teenage memories..just loved this song-album and band.. Skin!! I loved ya!!

  • Brilliant album , someone fire 'Long White car' on please!!! Still sounds fresh and not dated at all

  • Damn... fucking awesome... I've been looking for this album for years!! Back in the late 80s, I and some friends had just left Milwaukee's Summerfest music festival & these guys were playing Papagallo's Club down the street... just blew us away!!

Thanks for posting this... still searching for album/cd...?

  • I LOVED this album. Wore this cassette out.

  • Fuckin' Awesome, i remember trying to turn a few cunts onto it back in 86 but they where more interested in the happy mondays and the charlatans and shit like that

  • On the Great Western road...walked it many times

  • Skin and Pim Jones, bassist Andy Carr went on to form the band Witness. Brilliant debut album, House Called Love. Saw them live in Dundee in a pub around the corner from Fatty Sams in the early 90's.

The bass player had played with ShakeSpeares Sister and others.

  • I saw Witness in Nairn around the same time. They were good and couldn't fault their music and performance but they got pissed off with people shouting up Hipsaway song requests and eventualy Skin snarled 'we don't do any Hipsway songs' That's fair enough but they did use the Hipsway name on the posters to draw people in (Witness featuring Pim & Skin formerly of Hipsway) I think the poster said. They should take a leaf out of Sylvian's book with the Rain Tree project

  • i have been searching for this song for ages. brilliant tune.

  • 80' s magic music, magic band...every kind of music...more better then now! Maybe because i was more younger????

  • theres plenty of good music from the 80s, this is a good example. the guy went on to form texas but hipsay were better

  • Somewhere on video I have these guys on Andy Warhol's 15 minutes. Harry went on about the importance of white socks with your loafers.

  • ONE OF THE BEST EVER, MY SON PLAYS IN A BAND AND THE LEAD SINGER LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE SKIN (GRAHAME SKINNER ) AND I AM TRYING TO GET THEM TO RECORD THIS ANTHEM , HOPEFULLY THEY WILL LISTEN TO THE ( MUSIC MAN).!

  • still have the album!

  • so pleased i've finally found this......classic tune from an underated band. Thanks primalyscreamed

  • Class like this makes you proud to be Scottish, the album is full of stunningly clever songs

  • hipsway & hue & cry! good times

  • OMG BRING BACK EARLY 80'S BRIT MUSIC!!!!

  • Tout l'album est parfait !!!

  • Brilliant track although my favourite is " Long White Car". I've got the original album on a pre-recorded cassette. Just as well I've still got a tape deck!

    Thanks for uploading this song.

  • OMG! This just took me back to my teenage years when I first started clubbing. It was a great time for Scottish bands.

  • Great band saw them at ibrox park, this album is probaly in my all-time top 5 absolutely awesome!

  • A pity you can't get the album on iTunes :-(

  • Excellent band, anyone who doesn't already know stuff by the 'Blue Nile' and 'Love and Money' should check out their music from around the same time too.

  • I still have this album from 1986 :-)

  • Just a totally fantastic band, just wish I got to see them live!

  • One of the most underrated bands of the 80s. Class !!

  • Could you post a song called Forbidden? I do not find it anywhere!!!!! Tks! ;-)

  • i'am so much fan of Hipsway !! it's a great band !!

  • Great track, i remember the Mcewans advert.

  • always loved this song, this band should have been as big as "Simple Minds" but it didnt happen :(

  • Gawd ive no heard this for years;-)

  • amazing track from an amazing album by a truly underated band of that time. Remember the first time I heard it was on tv in advert for Mcewans lager.

  • outside the hotel, on the balconayyyyy

  • This track would be great in The Crews.

  • got this album on vinyl, happy days.

  • I love this song. Used to have it on cassette tape but it got chewed up :(

  • magic, I saw theseguys live in Dundee uni so long ago I had hair, anyway they were awesome live

  • @RadicalProductionsCo The Silencers are still making great albums.

  • brilliant song thanks,i have been looking for yonks for *your love* by hipsway any info would be great...

  • Can someone please post "Forbidden." I cannot purchase it online except by purchasing the entire CD which I don't really want.

  • They were a great band! I rember so many great gigs. Skin is in Glasgow now. Pim is in London, still studying music (and getting even better). His dad was in another great Scottsih group, Human Beast and his brother Nick is in the Jim Jones Revue, getting a lot of press right now.

  • How do you know all this informmation about my family?

  • As the upholsterers say, "Discretion is the better part of velour".

Wisdom is in the wind, and the river is deep.

  • How do you know this much about the band members?

  • Did you know any of the members by any chance?

  • By chance, indeed.

  • Hey, so do I.

    Which band members?

  • I really liked this album...and it still sounds good to me...

  • Hipsway are making a comeback! Check out my website for details!!

  • McEwan's Lager advert. A couple at a train station. Someone gets shot at the end.

  • SqueakyWD40 did Johnny not go from Altered Imaged to Hipsway then Texas?

  • Dont know about you, but can anyone else murder a pint of lager about now ?

  • I been walking on hard stone

  • Some things never leave you

  • I just love this song...

  • some things never leave you man

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!

  • Hipsway's debut album is one of the best ever made.

  • Am having a huge retro trip tonight, Hipsway, Love and Money and The Silencers were such important bands to me when younger....angry at myself for forgetting just how great Hipsway were

  • Wasnt it such a great era. Texas,Love and Money,Hipsway and Gun. Such fond memories.

  • Hipsway should have been huge, most under rated band of the eighties.

  • I agree...hugely under rated. Also check out Love and Money, a hugely under rated band from the same era

  • Checked out strange kind of love ........why did these bands never get the recognition they deserved.

  • No idea....just bad luck I suppose. First time I saw Love and Money live they were supported by Hue & Cry who ended up getting far more success

  • I was at the gig at the barrolwlands with Hue & Cry as support to Love & Money.

Got most of Love & Money's albums - they're big chance of making bombed when James Grant (lead singer) was on Saturday Super Store and he made a 'joke' about the late (he'd just past away) Roy Orbison - didnt go down well ...

  • Johnny McIlone moved on from Hipsway to Altered Images then to Texas ...

  • =/

I just made exactly the same point under the Honey Thief video!!!

    Great minds...

  • In my top 5 albums of all time!

  • Love, love, love this tune. Was 15 and living in Glasgow when it came out in '87. Became part of the soundtrack to my misspent youth - "I been thinkin bout setting the world on fire" - hell yeah!!

  • one of my favourite albums of all time every time it comes out on a new format I buy it. its is a great aural experience in pure digital on my ipod

  • whatever happened to "skin" the singer

  • OMG, I just remembered this and all the old lager adverts !!! Was on a Y.T.S in Cranhill at the time...lol..;) Tinder all my money on the Great Western Road!!! Time flies eh !

  • alan loves this

  • can someone post 'Long White Car' from the same band please

  • Best Lager advert tune - ever! Cheers for uploading.

  • Never thought I'd hear this again! thanks for posting

  • Hipsway were brilliant. What a voice the guys got. Most folk I ask have never heard of them.

  • By Gawd!!! I thought I`d never hear this again ... until I, drunkenly, stumbled upon it on this YouTube-ie thingie!!! Ferckin Brill!!! Does anyone Know what Skin n the guys are doing?

  • dunno bout the guys other than the bass player being in Texas lol but Skin happens to sit next to me in college ^^

just seeing all of your comments i couldnt resist replying so i hope he doesnt see this and clobber me now =D

  • Sorry it`s taken me so long to reply.

Tell Skin I say "Hello" and that he`s to get back to doing what he does best ... MUSIC!!! That`s an order!!! Hehehe.
