If this tech is cheap enough it will be good for all kinds of uses of lcd displays: Vehicles, ATMs, Gas pumps, watches etc.

there is color, its just not very good, see the other pixar qi videos.

besides, if you want tow atch videos you can watch them in the normal mode. if you want to read on the computer you can use it in the outdoor mode... i use my computer for both video and text...

its not e-ink, it's a regular lcd with a new reflective technology.

Yes. They are even talking about being able to change the refresh rate for different functions, Low refresh for reading, high refresh for video.

Looks great; would be nicer if they enabled color mode in backlight off, because you do get some colors they're just not accurate enough.

Much comparable to 256 color palette, where it's hard to see the color differences (or even where some colors look the same) of eg 2 yellows that are in close proximity on the color palette.

I'd rather have immature color than no color at all!

If you look closely at when the backlight is turned off, you will see there is still hints of color. It's just mostly desaturated.

In any case a screen that is at least viewable is far preferable to one which is completely washed out.

The EeePc 901 still is mine.

Most of their newer models are worse than the beginning models.

Your right ProDigit80! I have the 901 and its awesome! It doesn't have a big 10 inch screen, its got a much better webcam than the 900 and its got built in bluetooth unlike the 900. So yeah, the 901 is one of the best netbooks out there!
