This movie honestly failed. When I first saw the trailer, I thought it would be good as the series, but... I was fucking wrong. I couldn't even stand 10 minutes of it. -.- The guy who plays Prince Zuko looks nothing like him... just saying? lolol. & the people who play Aang & Katara is too fucking young? Or they're too short? LOL, idk. c: & the girl who played Katara couldn't even pronounce Aang's name correctly! -.- That... really made the movie terrible.

I just finishing watching this movie. OMG..I loved this show and I was hoping this movie would be as great as the TV show, but I have to say I was very disappointed. The only way you may enjoy this movie if you never watched the show and know the real story line. There are many parts I really could not believe were wrong in the movie, but the part that I really had a problem with was Uncle. M.Night you really took the joy away from me, by changing such a great character.

Why this movie is HORRIBLE, the casting is HORRIBLE, script was HORRIBLE, the acting EQUALLY HORRIBLE:
Aang is not adorable and fun in this movie, he's such a downer.
Sokka is not likeable or funny.
Katara is a whiny, useless, ineffectual crybaby.
There's also an awful lot of Indian/White people in this movie. I know the anime had them rather ethnically ambiguous, but, really now. If the reason for their casting was acting ability, then LOL. That needs to be reevaluated.
i'm sorry but you people expected way too much out of this movie. you either watched the series and wanted every single detail to be correct or you didn't watch it and read the reviews. You people over analyze every god damn detail. Whats wrong with going into a movie open minded and trying to enjoy yourself instead of looking for every wrong movie.
I like how everyone's getting so worked up about this. It takes place in an alternate universe, people. Although there are obvious references to the characters being of Asian descent (i.e. appearances, ethnic-sounding names, and the fact that Kanji is used for writing), nowhere in the original series does it say they are in Asia.
When I saw this movie I thought it was horrible so did everyone in the theater somone even threw there drink at the screen but know that I thought about it was kinda good I mean they got princess yue kinda right so u could watch it but don't spend it on 3-D cause that's a stupid ass idea
They hardly even developed Princess Yue as a character, and then they expected us to care when she died. What a joke. The whole time I was just thinking how this movie is a bastardization of the original series, and how I hoped I could erase the movie from my memory as not to taint the original beloved characters. Instead of making a real life action film for the entire series and squeezing it all into one film, they should have made a film that takes place (continues) after Aang defeated the Firelord. I was expecting a lot to be cut out but I found the characters to have no personality whatsoever. It was a cool flick if you are 10yo. The special effects were very cool but they were used too slow. There was no flow. I think the director needs to "get" the avatar before he makes a movie about it. I would say it was a fair show but I could have watched this in my couch. Will he do better in book 2?

Saw this last night. Complete waste of cash. This is by far the worst movie of the year. And that's in a year that included the movie "Copout". After the catastrophe that was The Happening, Shyamalan couldn't possibly make a worse movie than that. But low and behold, his latest, Last Airbender, left me completely speechless.
The movie has serious flaws, which is too bad because it might pull down what could have been a wonderful trilogy. Overall the movie was very pleasing, two thumbs up.

i like patel but i imagined zuko differently.
seems like shymalan only got interested in the summary of the cartoon and put some spacial effects in it. because they got all the characters wrong.

i saw it once in theaters and thought it was horrible,i expected it to be sumwat good,despite the reviews,and then i saw it again on youtube(in parts) and it seemed better,i dont know how but it did,i guess its because i knew it was crap,and instead of noticing all the bad stuff,i noticed more of the good stuff

unless this was a 3 hour movie (which i dont think it is...) it wont be able to get anywhere as close of storyline or as good as the cartoon (the best version in the world and galaxy and for universes and beyond)...

Night Shyamalan funds these shitty movies, every movie hes made has had shitty dialogue and yet he continues to make more lame ass movies, in the beginning it said book one water, as if he was gonna make 3 more books/movies which i highly doubt given that this movie was even WORSE then the happening, ya i didnt think movies could get worse than that but he sure proved me wrong

I was gonna see this mmoive cuz I lov avatar but it was terriblely ruined. before I saw the series and saw the trailer I was proud to see an Indian like myself on an American moive but felt dissapointed when I watched the series that the moive isn't really like the Series! I just finishing watching this movie. OMG..I loved this show and I was hoping this movie would be as great as the TV show, but I have to say I was very disappointed. The only way you may enjoy this movie if you never watched the show and know the real story line. There are many parts I really could not believe were wrong in the movie, but the part that I really had a problem with was Uncle. M.Night you really took the joy away from me, by changing such a great character.

Why this movie is HORRIBLE, the casting is HORRIBLE, script was HORRIBLE, the acting EQUALLY HORRIBLE:
Aang is not adorable and fun in this movie, he's such a downer.
Sokka is not likeable or funny.
Katara is a whiny, useless, ineffectual crybaby.
There's also an awful lot of Indian/White people in this movie. I know the anime had them rather ethnically ambiguous, but, really now. If the reason for their casting was acting ability, then LOL. That needs to be reevaluated.

I like how everyone's getting so worked up about this. It takes place in an alternate universe, people. Although there are obvious references to the characters being of Asian descent (i.e. appearances, ethnic-sounding names, and the fact that Kanji is used for writing), nowhere in the original series does it say they are in Asia.

They hardly even developed Princess Yue as a character, and then they expected us to care when she died. What a joke. The whole time I was just thinking how this movie is a bastardization of the original series, and how I hoped I could erase the movie from my memory as not to taint the original beloved characters. This movie was terri-bad. Save your 10dollars for something more useful, like 2 pints of Haagen Dazs.

Instead of making a real life action film for the entire series and squeezing it all into one film, they should have made a film that takes place (continues) after Aang defeated the Firelord. Where Zuko says: "Where is my mother!?", seriously, I dont think anyone needed to know what the entire series would look like in a real life action film, WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPENS BECAUSE WE ALL SAW THE ANIMATED EPISODES!!!

Reason why the movie should be asian becuase of: the air nomads in the series look like buddist monks, Iroh plays a game called piesho or whatever, the buildings in the series are asian, Asain Tea, and a bunch of asian religion(of course). I was expecting a lot to be cut out but I found the characters to have no personality whatsoever. It was a cool flick if you are 10yo. The special effects were very cool but they were used too slow. There was no flow. I think the director needs to "get" the avatar before he makes a movie about it. I would say it was a fair show but I could have watched this in my couch. Will he do better in book 2?

Worst script, worst dialogue. It was the worst use of 3D I've experienced in my life.
What really kills me was the cast of the Fire nation!!!!!!!!!! What about light skin, dark hair, hazel (yellow) eyes. Im open to any ethnicity, IF they can fit the characters.

During my agony, I spent 75% of the time struggling to hold back from laughing out loud in horror and disbelief at the amateurish quality of directing, acting, and dialogue that this movie consisted of. How this man is able to convince anyone to invest any money into his talentless and pathetic endeavours is beyond me.

Saw this last night. Complete waste of cash. This is by far the worst movie of the year. And that's in a year that included the movie "Copout". After the catastrophe that was The Happening, Shyamalan couldn't possibly make a worse movie than that. But low and behold, his latest, Last Airbender, left me completely speechless.
